They likely know MP will become stale and unplayable soon. It's to the point where lots of people wouldn't pay because there are issues in MP that they haven;t fixed in months. Don't let people tell you they're giving us these map packs for free because of the ending. That's BS. They're doing en extended cut for the ending, and that's that.

Fans: Why payed DLC's?! THEY SHOULD BE FREE!

Bioware: Fine! Free DLC's.

Fans: Why are DLC's free Bioware?! YOU SHOULD MAKE MONEY OUT OF IT!

Bioware: >.>

No, the problem is there "free" dlc coems with a catch, free dlc should not come with a catch.

It really doesn't. Do you even play multiplayer? You don't have to spend real money to get the new items. They're added into the packs with all the other items. I still haven't spent a dollar on packs.

The responses in this topic please me. I was starting to think I was like 1 out of 3 people who saw this "free" DLC for what it was.

People have to learn sooner or later, EA and bioware are taking what they can get off of Mass effect while they still can.

No, when you buy Magic: The Gathering cards you are buying a tangible item that has real world value. Virtual items have no real world value, especially when you can get them for free just by playing the game.

I have a slight suspicion that the average bank login data, name and password, has significantly more value than your real-world card.

You have a bizaar understanding of the concept of 'take'.

No consumer is forced to spend a single dollar on this DLC, or because of it. Real world money is not required to access any part of its content.

While people like Angry One struggle at the concept, microtransactions in the ME3 style are a voluntary arrangement, not a requirement. There is nothing in ME3's multiplayer you need to make a purchase to get, and more than that there's nothing in the ME3 multiplayer you can guarantee to get via a real-world purchase.

And after the obligatory biweekly catastrophic EA server failure.

Responce to outcry from selling day 0 DLC.

Maybe if everyone expected DLC to be given free, you would be more likely to buy the title in the first place.

Easy answer about the "free" MP packs is the amount of micro-transactions that they generate.

To be fair, I'm happy for BioWare if they're making money out of that. Having a stable income source might mean that next quality RPG they deliver won't need to be rushed for release to cash out with an underdevelopped ending.

That doesn't go against the Angry One's point, which is that EA and Bioware are milking a cash cow dry, depleting it.  This is a marketing concept - not a moral one.

Irrelevant. No one's saying it's pay to win, it's there to encourage microtransactions.

Angry One's argument is based on the indignation that it's not free.

Encouraging microtransactions is not requiring payment. It isn't even a predatory pricing scheme.

Angry One's point goes beyond that. Don't presume that one to be as measured as you are.

Besides which 'depleting it' is absurd: they get no money except which you voluntarily hand over to them. There is no finite well of consumer willingness either.

 Multiplayer DLC is free because:

A) It will keep people interested in Mass Effect 3, and it ties into the story somewhat.
B) They still make money off it through Micro-transactions.

The Extended Cut is free and even happening because:

A) The fan uproar.
B) It will keep people interested in Mass Effect 3

The rest of this post is my opinion / theory / idea or whatever...

They are siphoning the DLC out little by little, because it's all part of their 'master plan' which ends with a secret final battle DLC. Also, what's up with you people who think it's so bad to have micro-transactions? (Mainly you, The Angry One). I think it's great that the DLC is free. And it is FREE. No one is forcing you to spend real money, that is your choice. And it's not gambling, you always get something out of the packs. And playing the game, to aquire in-game credits to spend on packs, it's still free! It's fake money that is aquired by having fun! Would you rather the DLC be $10 or $15? I'm guessing you wouldn't care, The Angry One, since you don't even play MP apparently, and you shouldn't care.

The End

Quite frankly, I'm overjoyed.
I have a very strict economy right now with ZERO budget for just fun stuff.
Free DLC actually lets me expand my gameplay experience without having to worry about my budget.

Keeping people interested in MP means more Micro-transactions.

It's a 60 dollar free to play model, essentially, lol.

I wouldn't feel greatful to be honest. Skyrim is getting new content all the time, and that is a singleplayer game. No chance for money making there.

you have hope more than you know....

Seriously though they are part of EA, the next game will be just as rushed as this game was, EA wants a franchise they can push out yearly to maximize profits and they want the TF2 microtransaction model for the same reason.

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!!

Thanks for proving my point. Sorry, but you are incapable of discussing this without emotional outbursts.

It doesn't matter to ME what YOU wanted ME3 to be. I'm sure the feeling is mutual. Am I sorry you didn't enjoy it more? Yes. Keep mocking something I love because you didn't get what you wanted or felt entitled to. Your rinse repeating of overblown melodrama and blatant distortions won't change this.

QQ at the caps and bold. Tsk, tsk. Your emotional outbursts are showing. I kid. I kid. Maybe...

I was being sarcastic, quoting what The Angry One said ad verbatim to make a point.
