No. It is not free. It relies on preying upon fools who spend real money for it.
The fact that you may not be one of them doesn't change that THIS IS WHY IT EXISTS.

It. Is. Not. Free. If you wish to continue praising BioWare for false platitudes, go ahead. I will however openly mock you for it.

Tedius solution.

Play lots of online racking points from gold matches with a level 20 character.
Use points to purchasse packs.

It took me ages before my packs started favouring new guns and new classes.

If you don't have 60 hours a week for this , then you're probably going to end up purchassing packs with real money.

Why is Bioware giving away free DLC?

To deal with all the angered fans. DLC that was initially going to cost a lot of money would have further inflamed the Bioware fans after sitting through a very dissapointing ending. So they made them free. Also Extended Cut is free.

Multiplayer was promised and even got me pre-ordering the game. So when I found out that multiplayer was incomplete I was annoyed. This multiplayer DLC is just giving players like me the content that we already paid for. We're getting the game in pieces instead of a complete package.

Just be pleased that you don't have to pay for the additions that should have been there from day 1.

I spent money for the packs, I'll admit it, but only when I first picked it up to help build an arsenal to use in multiplayer and to get more characters unlocked. After the first time I never paid money again because I earned enough credit from bronze matches to buy packs. Now Im at silver and Im earning double the points I used to, so I think the system works great for both sides.

How many who are adamantly opposed to free dlc and biowares transaction policies actually play the multiplayer game more than once?

That doesn't go against the Angry One's point, which is that EA and Bioware are milking a cash cow dry, depleting it.  This is a marketing concept - not a moral one.

Angry One's point goes beyond that. Don't presume that one to be as measured as you are.

Besides which 'depleting it' is absurd: they get no money except which you voluntarily hand over to them. There is no finite well of consumer willingness either.

Demand is finite and tends to be influenced by quality.  Quality costs money.  The lower quality of ME3 compared to ME2 tells me that they put the bare-minimum into it in order to maximize profit.  That is milking the cash cow.  If the fan base dries up as a result of this, they will deplete their fanbase.

This is grad-school marketing 501.

Microtransactions= big $$ unlocking chars and weapons take time so impatient players spend more money trying to unlock than they would on a regular priced dlc map pack.

They looked over at Capcom after "from ashes" and thought "We don't need that kind of press. We have our own bad press to deal with first".

She is quite accurate in calling the ending nihilistic.

Definition
1.  total rejection of established laws and institutions.
2.  anarchy, terrorism, or other revolutionary activity.
3.  total and absolute destructiveness, especially toward the world at large and including oneself: the power-mad nihilism that marked Hitler's last years.
4.  Philosophy . a.
an extreme form of skepticism: the denial of all real existence or the possibility of an objective basis for truth.
b.  nothingness or nonexistence.
a.  an extreme form of skepticism: the denial of all real existence or the possibility of an objective basis for truth.

5. ( sometimes initial capital letter ) the principles of a Russian revolutionary group, active in the latter half of the 19th century, holding that existing social and political institutions must be destroyed in order to clear the way for a new state of society and employing extreme measures, including terrorism and assassination.

Definition 1 also hits the mark

The funny part is that most of these seem to apply to the narrative itself as well as the content..

Someone else posted how the DLC would seperate the player base. I'm inclined to agree with this. It is already hard enough to fill lobbies and seperating players with DLC from those who don't will make it that much harder to fill lobbies. I also think there is little replayability in the mp. Defeating wave after wave of enemies gets repetitive fast. Even objective based rounds are repetitive. Especially repetitive if you are just playing to grind out creds...

Most of my friends who played me3 online have gotten bored and moved on. These DLC are only thing keeping them coming back for me. The moment they add a price tag is the moment thier player base takes a dive, and as it stands, I don't think there a ton of players around anymore.

I honestly think they are more opt to release paid DLC for campaign because it won't separate the already dwindling player base online. Just my 2 cents..but I hope there is some campaign DLC after EC. I've experienced no replayability in campaign... Maybe after EC and other DLC this will change...

I don't care. I'm just not interested in playing ME3 anymore. :D

Finally someone who feels the same way I do about multiplayer.
