Has happened to me a few times now, typically after extended multiplayer playtime. Pretty awful, especially since the collapse doesn't trigger until mid-match forcing the rest of the team to deal with the loss of a contributing player. It's bad for everybody.

Happened to me today. Mid match on gold I was in first place by a large margin. Felt terrible having to stay in cover and hide for the last half. Still managed full extraction and first place but it was hairy. First time thats happened to me.

This usually happens to me when I am hosting. Match starts out fine, but in later rounds the game gets jerky and framerate is almost to a standstill. Not playable.
Even worse, is all the disconnects from the EA Servers. Wave 10 Gold, disconnect, lose all credits. This usually happens when I am not the host. Driving me nuts. Modem lights are good, still connected to internet, still connected to PS Network, but get kicked out of EA Servers.

I just encountered this maddening situation. I was nearing the final wave, then the screen became some sort of hiccups, and the whole game became so darn aggravatingly unplayable... The problem persisted until the connection dropped. What makes the case worse is that I just began playing the game for only 2 hours, and plus this is on my newly purchased PS3.. Seriously, what is wrong with Bioware?

I don't recall having this problem during the first couple weeks of playing, or at least not that often. It seems to have got a lot worse in the past few weeks.

Without fail or exception, after playing multiplayer for roughly two hours, my PS3 starts to stutter (massive frame skipping) and eventually grind to a total or near-total halt. During said stuttering, the hard drive grinds in perfect time with each "skip". I'm no tech expert, but it's almost as if the hard drive is trying to cache all of the data required to keep the game running in real time. Towards the end of an instance of this failure where the game is frozen almost completely, the hard drive is grinding continuously.
The only way to remedy the problem is to quit and restart the game. However, I often cannot quit from the game menu (due to the system being virtually frozen) and end up being forced to do the "three beep" hard restart which ends up causing the system to do the whole "rebuild file system" routine. This cannot be good for the unit.
In my view, the most diagnostically useful element of the symptom is the very distinct way the hard drive grinds in perfect synchronization with what I will describe as the "frozen moments" of gameplay.
