I recently bought da2 abd played da1 all the way through on my PC. I bought da2 on xbox360 and am having some trouble. I encountered the first main boss (rock golem) and I can not defeat him on casual. The problem is I can't get my party out of the way when he does his explosions. How do I gain control of my party to protect them from these types of spells. Thank any help would be appreciated.
Help!

right and left bumpers should allow you to gain control of your party members and place them behind the stone pillars out of the way of his lazer-y explosions. You can then pull up the radial menu and tell your party members to "hold" (it's the icon in the top-left on the radial wheel I believe). The key is to anticipate his attacks and get everyone the heck out of the way in time. If you have all ranged characters you may just want to plant them behind the pillars and leave 'em there.
Hope that helps!

There are two ways to do it. The quickest and easiest way is to take control of Hawke and move him behind an architectural element that you think may provide some protection. The rest of the party will follow. The harder way is to issue a "Hold position" order however it's done on xbox (there's a little hand/running guy icon on the PC version, but I don't know what the xbox version looks like) and take control of each character individually and move them into position. Or have you tried those methods to no avail?

I assume you're referring to when the rock wraith splits apart, starts charging up and then fires beams in all directions? If you're on the XBox 360, here's what you do: go to the menu and choose the option that freezes your party members in place unless you direct them to move. (It's on the upper right side of the wheel.) Then direct all your party members to run behind the pillars with the command on the opposite side of the wheel, the little four-way arrow. (Alternatively, take control of each party member and physically run behind the pillars.)
It's important to hold them in place because otherwise they run into the beam attack like idiots. But also take off that hold option when the beam ends, or else they won't attack the rock wraith.

Yeah, and it's important to remember that you NEED to take control of each of them manually if they're already trapped in that death beam, or they'll freeze there in its rays until either the attack is over or they're dead.

If you simultaneously click both the left and right bumpers you can control the whole party and move them to the safe zone without anyone moving away. Or hold each, I just find it easier to do the double bumper thing rather than the individual thing.

I hate those sorts of scripted boss fights. At least the one in Witcher2 was mercifully short once you get the method down.
