So what is everyone going to concentrait on first in thier builds?

I am thinking becoming a whirling dervish of death with dual wielding skills sounds like the ticket for a blood gore fest.

I'm going for a physical defense build; always liked the tank role.

I have no idea! I reckon i'll end up specializing my first toon as a Templar but i have no clue how i'm going to get there. Best part of the first play thru is experimenting and hoping you don't screw up too badly in an irriversable way.

Yah I agree. I usually tank it the first time through as it is usually the hardest to mess up with skill placement, but assasin/rogue trees look tasty too. I am sure I will be playing this game for many play throughs and get it worked out in the end.

My first character is the city elf rogue in my avatar, she's going to be an archer and a bard.

Skills: Maxing coercion(not to be used meanly, though, only to get out of bad situations), combat training, and dabbling in stealth.

Talents: Lockpicking, the single target line of archery talents and one or two melee archery talents.

I like the sound of your build that should be a very cerebrial play through.

Noble Human Rogue

Skills: Maxing Steal by 7, followed by Coercion. Finishing Combat Training in time for Dual Wield Talents @ 9 + 12.Then finishing up Poison Making followed by Survival.

Talents: Picking up all Dual-Wield Training as early as possible (1, 2, 9, 12). Simultaneously up to Lethality, for High Cunning + Crit increase, and Coup De Grace for auto-backstabs. Pushing through Dual Sweep --> Momentum (for attack speed boost) and Assassin Talents in the interim. Ending with Dual-Strike-->Punisher.

... I'm leaving all the lock-pickiness, trap-disarming/setting to the second rogue in the party ;)

Hah, I wouldn't. Once November 3rd arrives and we are all happily playing, my fragile little "game-plan" may be shattered by the reality of the a whole number of variables. But it won't really matter, because I'll be playing anyhow. For now, the only reason I build my character is because I enjoy filling Excel Spreadsheets with the inflated idea that I know what I'm doing :D

EDIT: Does this forum sometimes not work right when trying to quote people? It seems it messed up for me just now. It didn't quote you right.

Since we can see all the skills now, could anyone with knowledge of such things create a webpage that allows you to spec your character?

For example... Talent Calculators for WoW or anything similar in other games.

I think I do.  I am afraid when I actually get the game, I'll end up just clicking on whatever looks pretty and be distracted by all the shiney things in the game, and then Alistair gets in the party, and Dog, and there will be no return.

Human Noble Rogue/Assassin/Duelist. Focus on dual wielding, below the belt and dirty fighting. As for skills, combat training, coercion, and poison making are musts.

The quote-ness is broken beyond a single quote, it seems. At least, for the one topic I tried to quote within a quote.

Master stealth, 3 in core Dual wield, Full Punisher tree, Full Below the Belt. The rest TBD. Probably grab pinning shot for weapons switching fun.
