Alright, I am wondering if it is at all possible to add henchmen to singleplayer? I notice if you look in the coalesced.bin in henchloadoutinfo it lists all the ME2 characters (and all ME1 except for Wrex). I'm wondering why they were included since none of them really engage in combat during the campaign. Also I found many of their excuses on why they couldn't help you out to be incredibly lame. I'll break up the reasons below:

ME1:
Kaidan=Recruitable if survived Virmire.
Ashley=Recruitable if survived Virmire.
Wrex=Nonrecruitable but has a good excuse, is leading the krogan.
Tali=Recruitable if survived suicide mission.
Garrus=Recruitable if survived suicide mission.
Liara=Recruitable by default.

ME2:
Jacob=Has a family and is a crucial anti-Cerberus advisor, good excuse, although I also think he'd maybe join Shepard since it's the best chance for protecting his family.
Miranda=Searching for sister, decent excuse until Horizon, at which point she really should have just joined since she basically does nothing the rest of the game.
Zaeed=Hangs around Citadel for half the game, really should be recruitable since he hates Cerberus and you attack their g**d*** HQ!
Kasumi=Steals tech for the crucible, good excuse since that is fairly valuable. Doesn't want to rejoin anyways.
Mordin=Dies curing genophage, or works on crucible. Since he's a scientist he is probably better suited for that, only reason you had him in ME2 is anti-Collector tech anyways.
Grunt=Is leading Aralakh company which more or less gets wiped out by rachni. Conceivably could continue leading since Aralakh is a war asset or join Shepard if they aren't reformed.
Jack=Leading her biotic artillery squad, good excuse.
Thane=Dies protecting councilor, would've died from Kepral's anyway. No contention here.
Samara=Code demands she is on the frontline but Shepard basically goes on the frontline in each Priority mission and it doesn't get more frontline than the final act. She should have easily recognized this.
Legion=Do the geth not have backups? Because I swore he said they do. I half expected a Legion in a new body to appear. Which, if that were to happen I'm pretty sure consensus would say aiding Shepard has high chances of stopping the Reapers.

Thus, I think Miranda should have been recruitable after Horizon, Jacob after his side mission (possibly), Zaeed after his side-mission, Grunt after his side mission (possibly), Samara after the monastery, and Legion after Rannoch (possibly) and I am curious if these characters can still be added since they have weapon loadout entries. I would think to accomplish this you would have to add them to:

biogame.ini --> sfxgame --> sfxpawn --> henchmen --> henchmeninfo
(appears to be unlock criteria)

bioui.ini --> sfxgame --> sfxgui --> weaponselection --> appearance positions
(appears to be where weapons float on character models)

bioui.ini --> sfxgame --> sfxguidata --> teamselect --> henchidentities (appears to be all the details for the squad selection screen)

bioui.ini --> sfxgame --> sfxguidata --> teamselect --> selectappearance
(appears to be costume info, likely could give everyone their defaults and possibly an alternative if the textures are still in game files (illegal to import from ME2))

bioui.ini --> sfxgame --> sfxguidata --> teamselect --> selectinfos
(appears to be where each character's powers are defined)

Does anyone know if this is all that needs to be changed or if it is even possible? I'm not sure if there are hardcoded limitations or not. I do think this would improve singleplayer by quite a bit:

Jacob=Closest to a vanguard. In game there is only 1-3 biotic characters based on whether Kaidan lived or if Javik was downloaded. Otherwise it's just Liara. Would have Pull, Incendiary Ammo (overlap with James), Barrier, and another biotic ability (Charge or Shockwave maybe), and likely Alliance Training or whatever MP ex-Cerberus gets as a passive. Would use shotguns and assault rifles or pistol (always thought he should get AR over pistol). This would make him the 3rd character with a shotgun (2nd if Tali dies) and 6th with an AR/HP (2nd if Garrus dies, Kaidan/Ashley isn't recruited, Javik isn't downloaded for AR; 3rd if Kaidan dies or wasn't recruited, Tali dies, and Javik isn't downloaded)
Miranda=Closest to a sentinel thus adding another biotic and a tech character to the 1-4 existing techs (is just EDI if Garrus dies, Kaidan dies or isn't recruited, and Tali dies). Would have Overload, Warp, Slam, and perhaps Sabotage or Energy Drain with whatever the MP ex-Cerberus gets as a passive. Would use SMG's (making her the 3rd SMG user, and pistols (see above for count).
Zaeed=Pure soldier. James is the only pure combat unless Ashley joins (and 50% of the time she'll be dead anyways) and Garrus is half combat. Would have Concussive Shot, Disruptor Ammo (only Ashley has), Inferno Grenade, and another combat skill with Combat Mastery as a passive. Would use AR's (see Jacob for count), and sniper rifles making him one of the few snipers (Garrus and Ashley are the only ones and with Ashley gone half the time there is only one sniper who can still die in ME2). Note, Ashley is more or less a Zaeed clone so this would give people who chose Kaidan her skillset.
Grunt=Another pure soldier. Would have Concussive Shot, Incendiary Ammo, Fortification and another combat skill (perhaps a grenade) with Krogan Berserker for a passive. Would use AR and shotgun. Grunt would be more or less a James clone and since James is default no matter what Grunt may be redundent.
Samara=A pure biotic. Would have Reave, Throw, Pull, and another biotic skill (perhaps Biotic Sphere, Warp Ammo, or Shockwave) with the Asari Justicar passive. Uses AR and SMG.
Legion=A pure tech and brings some balance to the addition of mostly biotics and soldiers. Would use Sabotage, Geth Turret, Defense Matrix, and a fourth skill (perhaps Hunter Mode or Sticky Grenade) with Networked AI as a passive. Would also use AR's and be another badly needed sniper. Perhaps would look like a reskinned geth hunter or rocket trooper or just use his default Legion body as well.

If anyone knows if any of this is at all possible or if I should just give up hope let me know please!

Can't help but would like I comment.
After the fight with udina. You have the option of letting the Virmire survivor become a war asset or join the crew. I wish this was an option for most characters. Hell. Recycle their combat dialogue from me2. I just want to see my favorite squadmates in action and be more involved. Few had a good reason to leave Shepards side against the reapers

I agree, I'd be perfectly fine if we just got them with recycled dialogue and skins. I mean half of them you wouldn't get until the end game anyways so there'd be less things they would have said. My first playthrough I was half expecting to get them for Priority: Earth as a last mission only bonus, an all out sort of thing. I mean if the crucible and all your war assets were going to Earth as Hammer, Sword, and Shield then everyone was there. I don't think it would have been that difficult to allow anyone for the final push. My hope is that if they aren't possible to mod in that some will be added in DLC as it is interesting they all have weapon loadout entries.

sorry to revive a 'dead' topic
but i'm pretty interested,since Citadel DLC adds new henchmen,except Legion,Mordin and Thane(with Wrex the only one that has a party choice)
i would like to add Wrex permanently in the game.
and maybe placing him on the ship in an area that's always empty,like the east cargo or the life support, and giving him some Citadel\\Campaign reused dialogue.

You would probably need to modify the "Normandy" level in the game files to accomplish this. Not sure how you would go about doing that.

Might be possible with some gibbed tricks to insert them as your squad on regular missions though.

it would be possible with ME3explorer,but it's far from being able to modify so heavily a level

one way to add some of them would be to look in the citadel DLC files for the squad selection screen data and copy it over into the base game. the only other issue would be setting up empty sound files and data so the game doesn't crash when a scripted squadmate is supposed to speak in the base game or other dlcs.

(i must admit i'm disapointed kasumi doesnt have shadow strike in the citadel DLC and samara doesnt have biotic sphere since she like invented it in ME2)
