Slam, I thought I knew how to use it.

I've been using it as my bonus power for a while and it's been a great addition to my Soldier but maybe I'm not using the power right at times. Most of the time slam does massive damage to any enemy I hit with it but then randomly it stops working, no matter who I hit with Slam, it does 0 damage. I can even use the power on the same enemy five or six times and they still won't lose any health.

Do enemies on Insanity randomly gain immunity to Slam or am I just doing something wrong?

it works much better if you combine it, try using it with warp or reave

It's probably when you try and hit enemies with shields, barriers, or armor up. Slam only has the physical effects of picking the enemy up and slamming them down when they're on their health.

I like using reave to weaken them, and help take down their shields, maybe a pistol to finish taking down their shields in their reave-weakened state, then slam once they're down to health to get slam's full effect, and a biotic combo on top. Spec for AOE on reave and slam and you take out groups of enemies at once with this.

If you have a fast enough recharge and are facing enemies without shields, use slam first to incapacitate, then reave before slam detonates to get a biotic combo. It's a bit faster than the previous method, but only works on enemies without shields up.

I usually bring along Garrus so I tend to use overload on any sheilded enemies, and Slam doesn't seem to even lift sheilded enemies off the ground so I don't target them with the power. The no damage slams happen even on husks that haven't been buffed from Marauders, which is why I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong.

Slam does not do much damage by itself. It never really has. I am not sure what is causing the disparity where sometimes it does a lot of damage, unless you are Slaming someone under the effects of biotics and getting a detonation.

Lift and slam is a good combo. Lift brings your target out of cover letting you take potshots and does some damage on its own. And if you time the slam right you can bash the target into the roof before slaming them to the ground.

When I spec'd in slam I noticed the same thing happen sometimes.

Enemies would often take insane 1shot damage but other times they would only take very little damage or not bounce off the floor.

It has to do with how the force and physics engine work.
