That is my very thin theory.

Yeah, Morrigan said everyone died... but you never see him actually die. She also saw darkspawn dragging survivors under ground.

I believe the darkspawn are holding the top Grey Warden captive, experimenting to figure out how to break the bond between Wardens and themselves so they can properly take over the world.

There will be a big DLC or expansion that will send us to the deep roads to rescue him.

That is why there is no Duncan armor in Return to Ostagard.. he is still wearing it

Holla!!!!!

I saw him posing with Elvis at the slushy machine in a Seven-Eleven in Peoria last night.

True story.

Hmm... I'd rather see him dead. I mean, I wouldn't mind to see him here and there, but really, this is dark fantasy, the good have to lose once or twice in order to get to the bloody and very messy bang kaboom victory.

That's at least me...

Not that thin... Wynne survived she claims she was injured and remained in Ostagar to recoup. In an Ostagar that Morrigan claims is teaming with darkspawn feeding on the dead. As with any fantasy genre anything is possible.

If Duncan is alive that would defeat the purpose of introducing Obi-Wan Kenobi into Dragon Age.

Yeah I always found it curious that the Darkspawn after FOUR failed attempts due to the Grey Wardens, have taken no measure to rethink their strategy.

Not from me.

From the mass and nameless THEY who hate anyone postulating a theory that isn't what they believe.

I've got a bunch of theories I even wrote down based on rumors in game and codex entries, because I am a mystery solving nerd with no Scoobies to lead. ;)

Duncan CAN die!

Duncan's beard CANT die!!!

And btw. we will see in RtO if he is dead or not. If i dont find his corpse beside King Cailan,

then i must assume that the Emissary from the Calling has taken him Underground!

Exactly!! I think that would make a hell of a DLC.

If Duncan is alive he should slap your PC so hard for doing the Dark Ritual.

Duncan may be dead. But when a hero is needed again, his beard will return.

Duncan is inconsequential, Duncan's Beard however lives on, secretly ruling as the puppetmaster behind the thrones, terrifying Darkspawn in the Deep Roads, inevitably overthrowing the Maker soon and rebuilding the Golden City according to his beardly plan.

Yes, my friends, the Maker exists only by the grace of the Beard, and only as long as the Beard allows him to.

A couple of days ago I put up my idea that King Cailan's corpse was walking around (not that he was alive, but that his body was being inhabited) and that's why there was no body for the funeral, and we'll have to fight said corpse to get the armor back.

I didn't exactly feel the love. LOL

I think duncan is dead mainly because we pretty much saw hit get hit with a battle axe. I disappointed with his role in the game too but he's gone.

There is no love here, 90% of the forumites ran out of love the moment their shapeshifty witch left them, or when they had to share their mentally handicapped lover with said witch for a quicky. :P

That would be cool to see his ghost.. i mean we see all kinds of ghosts in this game.. could even talk to them during the Gauntlet in the Sacred Ashes quest

I would really prefer he be dead than he be some Darkspawn General of evil doom death, that Alistair has to end up delivering the final blow.

It'd likely be right after I got him to shut up about Duncan in the first place, then he'd start going on about it again. *sigh*

If we're going to be realistic, considering the content of The Calling, and also considering Duncan was due to head to Orzammar. Well.. maybe some old friends found him. :3
