But that's a vague timeline at best. Some Wardens like Asturian lingered on a little too much when their time was up, but he still had enough of his faculties intact to go to Orzammar.

And we are discussing a make believe fantasy world with stories of Flying Griffins and Demons turning mages into Abominations are common.
So i am sure it is highly impossible for Duncan to maybe... um duck? He did completely destroy a highly skilled Ser Jory and kill and Ogre by himself
Duncan, exhausted, injured and demoralised kneels over the king's corpse. A horde of darkspawn rush towards them, through clouded eyes he stares at the Alpha defiantly as it sweeps it's axe down on Duncan's head...
.... Duncan ducks and yells "PSYCHE!".
... yeah. Sure. Whatever.
So your make believe fantasy world is more plausible than mine?
Its a thought i had, and am enjoying the discussion... and i am right

Asturian may not have been taken captive by Darkspawn.

Duncan's beard however can't die.
Thus, we'll most likely encounter Duncan's beard wearing Cailan's armor still kicking a** and taking names the whole time we've been traipsing around Ferelden. An axe may have shared Duncan's face, but the immortal beard of legend lives on!

I'm talking about consistency. The man is clearly injured and broken and the darkspawn are dropping large battleaxes on him.
By your logic, it's a fantasy world. Therefore flying pink elephants saved Duncan and took him to the Happy Bear Palace in the sky.

So? Unless there's something that says darkspawn can speed up the spread of a Warden's taint when they clearly cannot since they're *immune*, that changes nothing.

I don't think it's a question of can it be done so much as should it. IMHO, no, it shouldn't. The "ZOMGWTFBBQ I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD" plot device is horribly overused.
I agree. If only to avoid more sadface Alistair and more Duncan conversations.
OKAY, YOU'RE SAD. I GET IT. NOW SHUT UP AND TELL ME I'M PRETTY.

I already came up with a scenerio of why the Darkspawn would want a Grey Warden alive.. its perfectly believable in the world.
Or will they keep coming back and continue to have a Warden end the Blight... they need a new strategy.
Sure he is injured, and more than likely he is dead... but i like the possibilty that they want him for something more is intrigueing.

I don't think darkspawn can. The Architect however...
I'm just sayin', if a certain genlock with fists of fury saw Duncan being dragged away... said genlock would not be happy.

How about this unexpected plot twist: "Incredible! He's dead and gone and turned into Duncanburgers and will never return!"?

What strategy?OneBadAssMother wrote...
Yeah I always found it curious that the Darkspawn after FOUR failed attempts due to the Grey Wardens, have taken no measure to rethink their strategy.
It's somewhat like asking why mice haven't started rethinking their strategy, after getting stuck in traps for over a thousand years.

In any case this will all be resolved in the sequel where we meet Duncan's clean shaven twin brother and help him uncover the secret of Duncan's power in Dragon Age 2: The Legend of Duncan's Beard.
Damn, put me on the pre-order list for that!!!!!

Hence, screw the Darkspawn. They're a belligerent horde who've had their day, their plans haven't changed in millenia, why would they now?
