You saw the title correctly, Sony is considering interrupting your experience with the product you payed full price for by shoving more advertisements in your face.

Guess it's time to prepare for the next big crash.

This has to be for next-gen consoles right, Microsoft apparently want to do something similar with in game adverts.

How would they implement them in-game anyway, based on whether you're connected online or not? If it was an issue you could try playing offline. Nevertheless can't say these new additions Sony and Microsoft want to use just doesn't get me excited for their new hardware.

There are already rumors that these new consoles will have an "always-online" requirement a la Diablo III just to be able to play games on them - now we've got whispers of this making the rounds on top of that?

If either of these ideas come to fruition, I'm done - the industry has already become bogged down enough in this kind of corporate bulls***, and I've had just about as much of it as I can take as it is.

I think the worst part of this is that most gamers will probably tolerate it. I mean, look at how much we tolerate already? They think they can get away with anything because most gamers are still willing to throw down their money on whatever crap they shove in our face.

It's unacceptable, and I am done making these kinds of concessions just to be able to play the increasingly watered down, half-assed games they put out.

So here's to these rumors just being rumors, and no more - otherwise, it's game over with no continues.

Damn, they are just pushing everyone towards PC gaming. I hope the Steam Box or whatever Valve is planning comes to fruition, if the rumors prove to be true about these in-game commercials.

Nah Everest, we still have Nintendo and maybe MS, sony however its safe to say they are done, also Atari is pondering a return to the market. Sega might be as well.

I think MS if some rumors are true, and Sony given the facts of what its doing, are honestly ran by moles from nintendo. As thats the only way this much retardation could happen, well that or bad investors.

Wii U isn't even out yet, and it this holds true, well I think this will be the first time from the 70's one Console has had an undisputed hold on the market.

Sony, in game ads, hostility in used games, always connected online....well by Sony, wish I could say I miss yah, but the last good thing you made was the PS2.

And Microsoft, if you have anyone at your workplace with even a little common sense, don't do this. I would love to play halo five or halo Six. (can't speak for the ads, but the whole, antiused games or digital only/thumb drive rumors are something I've heard out of them, but given the 720 isn't even on the drawing board, while the PS3 is, I have no faith in suck rumors for now.)

The fact that someone went through the time and trouble to develop and patent this makes me have less confidence in the human race.

Capcom have done it with Dragons Dogma and now Sony are looking into actually stopping the game to show their ads. Fan-bloody-tastic.

If even one of the features I've heard about are in the next generation consoles I'm not buying them.

@ Chunky, yeah thats what I'm sayin.

Hopefully MS will listen to the raging at this, and its mullings. Its shown signs of that and pushing the 720 out faster, given all the hot water around it as of late from gamers about the "TV Box" its basically turning into, so to keep the core they'll drop alot of the crap, but most rumors now on performance and the like, it seems the field with PC's will be closing, I mean they actully are going to use a current gen CPU and GFX drivers with *gasp dual cpu's* I mean it only took them long enough. But I think this also means we'll have another brick box. I'm fine iwth that.

And the Wii U is fallowing suit, honestly I think Sony thinks that people will buy reguardless as with what happend with its 599 PS3. But if MS dosn't take away or clear up two key rumors, that is hostility to used game sales, and online only play, then they'll be in the same boat as Sony. At least they did retract well according to latest rumors that games will be only digital. In fact it seems Blue Ray or Flash drive is where they are headed.

But really Sony, are you just tired of making games?

So, nightmare scenarios with next-gen consoles:

1.) No used games
2.) In-game pops >:(

What else is to come?

3. Have to pay 5 cents per hour to play the games you've already bought (actually rent) :?

Please tell me there's no basis for that comment.

Hmm, wasn't there also talk of full games no longer being released, and instead publishers will release them in "episodes" a la the Walking Dead games?

Same here.

When the backlash comes, and companies hurt from it, expect zero sympathy from me.

In fact, I might just turn to piracy.

I'd advise you not to say stuff like that, unless you want to be banned.

No way, I already have to deal with ads on youtube. I don't need it in the middle of my games now!!

Interestingly enough, games already have ads in them; they're just part of the game environment. And that seems like it would be far more effective than actually stopping gameplay.

I understand YouTube because its free. Not ideal, but there you have it. I just make it a point to go out of my way NOT to buy the advertised product.

I won't enter into any purchase contract that involves forced ads like that. Or on-line mode. It simply isn't going to happen.

Go ahead, make your bed, dumb companies. It's a free market...when you crash and the natural restoration occurs, I'm gonna laugh.
