Hi  all,

So I was trying to update Origin to the latest patch, and the download itself was only 39MB. But it kept telling me whilst I was updating that I have "not enough free discspace". I have about 40GB of free space left. And I noticed that after canceling patching the 40GB was free up.

You should not need 40GB+ of space for an update. And I would prefer not to make space for it if it's only going to just "borrow" my discspace then free it up.

Is the patch buggy? Anyone else encountered the same problem?

I encountered updating issues only due to a locked/open file conflict. It said there might not be enough disc space.

My access conflict was because it was trying to update a second time on top of the first time before the first one was finished. (Really weird.)

Permission issues can cause the same resulting error of being unable to read/write/delete a certain file.

What EA will tell you is to try the update as an Administrator, turn off anti-virus and turn off UAC if you have it on. If successful, you should be able to turn all that stuff back to where it was after it finishes.

So far, I have had no problems with running under standard user, antivirus enabled and UAC. (I did have to authorize admin access [separate user login popup from UAC -- have separate admin account that I only use for installations -- and SWTOR to my chagrin] for the Origin update, but not for the ME3 updates.)

Actually, EA told me you needed 50GB discspace. Which is completely untrue. I tried freeing up 10 more GB and had the exact same result.

I'll try uninstalling Origin and reinstalling. After I filed a complaint for that CS representative.
