No one gives a damn about Earth. Even Shepard. That's why BioWare had to include the kid, they needed somethign for the hero to get all torn up about. It didn't work all that well, however.

Their world is pretty much the only form of religion they have left.

In fact, the root of the word "paradise" comes from ancient Persia, where it meant "walled" as in "walled garden".

Which is also what the name of their world means. It's basically their paradise where they can flourish instead of slowly die out aboard their rusty fleet.
