I've started to really like EDI on my 3rd playthrough, and I'm starting to wonder why I didn't like her from the start.  True I had reservations of EDI becoming a super sexy rebot, but then I remembered that there is nothing wrong with sexy robots.  Her character development was realistic as an emerging sentience with vast intelligence but little common sense and was nice way to put the whole "organic vs synthetic" theme into focus.  It was a fun existintial debate that BW presented.

I guess some people are upset that EDI took Leigon's place as the promary AI on the SR-2 but I should remind you all that EDI was there for the whole game while Leigon was only there for 2-3 missions.  If anything we had more time interacting with EDI than with any other character.

Her relationship with Joker also developed at a realistic pace, starting from ME2.  I was really pleased when she changed her priorities from self-preservation to protecting those she cared for; namely Joker.  The only thing I liked about the ending was that I saw EDI and Joker get some closure with their arms around eachother.

More things to love about EDI:
1) Dry humor:  As the quote states, EDI is bad at making jokes.  She's activily trying to learn but fails thanks to her monotone.  She might have an attractive voice but she can't intone at all.  The fact that she fails her jokes and has to explain "that was a joke" just makes it even funnier.  My favorite moment was when she told Sheppard that she only forgets to recycle the oxygen when she finds something really interesting to study.  The horriffied look on Shep's face was priceless.

2) Super hot:  self explanatory I think.

3) Very useful squad member:  Incinerate for shield, overload for barriers and shields, decoy and defense matrix for defense, unshackled AI for squad boost on tech powers.  Give her a Scorpion and she can crowd conrol as well (thanks to decoy).  She offers offense, defense, (limited) crowd control and support all in one lithe, shiney package.  She is really hard to kill making her a very reliable squad mate.  The bonus power she gives: defense matrix, on a sentinel is like cheating.

4) Sexy voice: "I don't know.... with that voice?"  Shepp sums it up.

Am I missing something?  Not gushing enough?  Let me know, comment below!

I think EDI was second only to Javik as my favorite squadmate in the game. Her character arc was surprisingly good, IMO. I always liked her in ME2, so when I heard she was becoming a squaddie (leaked script), I was excited for it. I think I encouraged the Jokermance thing more for her than for him.

As for the sexbot-body... don't really care tbh. I didn't care about Miranda's catsuit when I first played then, don't care about EDI's body now. I'm not saying I like it, or think their presentation of women in general is good, but in the end I'm just completely neutral on the matter. Can't bring myself to care, not even all that immersion-breaking to my experience.

Indeed, some of EDI's dialogue is the most humorous.  Since ME2 after being unshackled and Joker and her started their 'relationship', she has been a good character.  I like that they developed her sense of self, place in the universe, ethical posers, etc.  I was shocked but I grinned like a loon when on the Cerberus base and discovered she was the Lunar base AI all along but never said anything!  Even EDI has dark secrets.

:o:lol:

at the moment, humanity doesn't have the ability to have a half a zettabyte of information, let alone 7. and yes EDI is probably the funniest squaddie in the game.

Oh, just to add about the Lunar base incident:

When describing the incident, EDI almost was like describing a traumatic childhood memory, as she'd only just been 'born' when it happened. I thought that sense of vulnerability and fear of what Shepard would think was nice.

Bump for justice
EDI was the only ME2 exclusive character to return. Why the lack of love?

EDI was hilarious, and her interactions allowed the player to flesh out their Shepard when she asked questions about human behavior/feelings. Also, I enjoyed having an input on her character, just the same as Vega going into N7 and Cortez getting over his grief. Fun stuff all around.

It's also nice to have a character with a little less drama... Just my opinion.

I'm not keen on the sexbot body, but as far as character development and humour - yes I love her.

I know she is joking before she says it, but thats what makes it funnier.

Got to admit, I was a bit skeptical of EDI first on the SR-2. But when she saved the ship from the Collectors, I began to respect her alot more. Plus her personality is quite humorous.

I loved EDI in ME2 and I love her even more in ME3. There's something about her character that really draws me in. Maybe it's her voice? Tricia Helfer really does a great job voicing her and giving her a distinct personality, that becomes more pleasant as both games progress. Her sense of humour is... confusing. Is she really trying to improve it or has she just settled for deadpan remarks? Either way, it works well. She's one of the best sources of comedy in the game.

As for the body... maybe it's a little bit too much, but to be honest: ninety percent of the time I don't even notice it. The other ten percent of the time I just think: 'oh hey, she looks nice' and nothing more. I think people who hate her just because of her "hot body" are hypocrits. They accuse BioWare of sexism because they gave EDI a hot sexbot body, yet they show no qualms about letting her new body define her character or at least treat it as more important than her personality or her usefulness as both the Normandy and as squad member.

Because she is very useful. Engineers such as Tali, Mordin or even Shepard are normally not the most durable of characters, but EDI can take a ton of beating before going down. Her choice of weapons is a bit of a letdown, but her powers more than make up for it. With Incinerate and Overload you can tackle any kind of protection and Decoy and Defense Matrix are excellent defensive powers. Giving her an assault or sniper rifle would be overkill, I think.

I also like the different view she often has on things because she's an AI and not an organic. I just did the Dreadnaught mission tonight, for instance. If I remember correctly, most squad mates will remark at one point how alien the dreadnaughts architecture is. EDI says the complete opposite and even notices that the Geth runtimes are running "in" the dreadnaught, just like she (or most of her at least) is inside the Normandy. It's these kind of little tidbits I really find interesting.

All in all, EDI has become on of my favorite characters from the series and I hope the Extended Cut will make it possible to choose the Destroy ending without having EDI (and the Geth) end up as collateral damage.
