Some f you don't like things, well fair enough. Guess your the same people who go to watch a film and then moan and whine about how it should have been done this way, or that it would have been better if this or that happened?

I'd say the entire point is that if you care enough to whine, **** and moan about what may or may not be entirely irrelevant detail to the movie/book/game... then the makers succeeded. You care enough to whine, **** and moan. The fact that something provokes thought and controversy makes it succesful. And considering the level of discussion entertained on these boards relating to the merits or faults of this or that character or whether or not their actions were believable or not... I'd say Mr. Gaider et al succeeded big time. The characters are alive, and like most people alive, there's always something to compain about.

Having dealt with someone tramautized emotionally with the loss of a loved one, I can tell you, there's NOTHING rational when it comes to emotions. One moment she would be weeping quietly to herself, the next she flew into a murderous rage and had there been a weapon at hand, would have probably used it to kill the person she thought killed her son (driver of the car her son was in)  even though it *wasn't* his fault.
So ya, I can see where Alistair is coming from with his choices. They aren't the "best" ones and arguably not even "right" ones. But then again, that what made his character human, flawed and realistic.

Show me someone here who hasn't had to deal with someone (or been someone) traumatized?

I'm not expecting him to be rational.  I'm expecting his writing to be rational.  As such, I thought his freakout was underdeveloped.  One or two dialogue lines of him having a meltdown when the subject of Loghain comes up would have been more than enough to establish that he is capable of turning his back on the Wardens.

When he is at the height of his grief, he is reasonable and stable (relatively speaking).  When it's discussed at later intervals, he is reasonable and stable.  It's obvious the hurt is deep and his pain is tremendous, they did an excellent job of conveying that.  They did not convey his overwhelming need to punish Loghain.  It's discussed, and he's angry, and he says that Loghain will pay, etc. but there's none of that crazed with grief element to any of it.  There is no previous establishment of his actions.

If I had known Alistair had felt so strongly about Loghain, it would have affected my decisions regarding Loghain.

And the difference between him and his writing is?

His writing (in this context) is him...one and the same. Also, he is the kings illegitimate son, had his friend/mentor/father figure killed (in his eyes) by loghains treachery.....he tried to kill the party (of which Alistair) is a member....caused civil unrest....etc etc etc...

yet you had no inkling that siding with mr treacherous, lying, deceitful, power hungry Loghain might just upset Alistair a tad? lol

Amazing. Tell me, If you were Alistair, grey warden or not....would you work with Loghain? If you would, your a better person that me, because I wouldnt (if this was real etc)...There would not even have been a long conversation with me, I'd have just killed him the first chance I got.

Duty is a fine thing, but at times principles and beliefs come first (all too often I'm afraid).

Again, all very well written and very lifelike imo to many people I have known.

I do so love it when players are willfully ignorant, and justify that by declaring that everyone else in the story is clearly stupid. It's an interesting phenomenon.
