As the title says, I bought DA:Origins Ultimate edition though the Gamestop website, and dl'd it through their Impulse program back in October.  I got it up and runnign and it was working fine but then I had to put it on hiatus till now.  Lo and behold when I try to load my previously saved game, I get the "unauthorized account" error, so I came on here and find there is this nice lovely patch which is supposed to fix it.  Here's the problem, when I tried running patch 1.05 which I dl'd off the bioware site, I get the error saying my game isn't installed, please reinstall....  I have done various google searches and searches on here, but I haven't been able to find a solution and I am at the pulling out hair stage.  Oh and I have tried to update it via Impulse, but as far as they are concerned I am up to date at 1.04.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I would really really like to play this game.  I have a feeling that part/majority  of the problem is that Impulse put it in a path that the patch does not see, but I am not sure how to fix that.  Oh and I am running Windows 7 64bit.  Thanks in advance!

Sorry you're having trouble.  You are correct-- if Impulse installs the game (or parts of it) in different folders, then the standard patch installer will fail.  There are two solutions (neither may be very desirable):

1) The Impulse version of UE might place the Product Key information in a different place, which can cause authorization issues. You can check this by going to the game's launcher screen, selecting "configure", and then when the utility loads, select "game".  If the Product key is blank, then you might consult this thread:  http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/58/index/7036701/59#7069676  -- a warning-- this requires editing your registry, which can be tricky.  If you decide to try it, then you should be able to launch the game and log online.  Authorize your DLC and then *log out* and make sure your *uncheck* the auto login option.  This will prevent the game from trying to re-authorize the DLC, which is something the patch 1.05 corrects.

2) You can use the existing product key to download the game via EA's Origin client. You may have to dig through the registry, as described in the link above, in order to find that product key-- write it down! You'll have to uninstall the previous copy of the game first.  Ironically, once you install the game via the Origin client, you'll need to manually install patch 1.05.  Unlike some other games (like ME3), you do not need to launch Origin in order to play the game.

I got it to work by doing your second suggestion, it actually worked flawlessly so I am happily dancing in my chair! Now my only problem is remembering where I was in the game since it's been so long..... :D   THANKS!!!!!!
