So I just did something really crazy but it's fun as heck, I created a Tumblr for my Shepard, and everything and low and behold guess what, I've found out it's a good place to really figure out how to put my Shep's characters in perspective. Tali is a gas. I'm having too much fun with that cr@p!!

Quick question. Is the Kodiak used by only humanity or other races too?

I don't think it was ever specifically stated, but I would assume each race has its own shuttles/fighters/gunships, etc. Although the Asari and Salarian gunships in ME3 did look very similar, I'm putting that down to the devs being too lazy to design and model a whole new ship.

I mean, each race had shuttles long before humans joined the galactic community, obviously. So I doubt the Kodiak was so superior that every other race just went "Wow! We need to adopt that design!"

True... But considering that the Quarian's use anything they can get for ships pretty much, do you think it is unreal for them to have Kodiak's in use among other ships?

^ They probably would have scavenged parts and perhaps have a few running about. A Kodiak cost 3 million credits, I don't think they would spend that kind of money on it.

I got Commmander Keen with the ID pack I bought off Steam (absolute ****g bargain, 5 quid for ALL HL/HL2, Doom, Quake, Hexen, etc, etc).  Let's just say the old 2d platformer hadn't aged well lol.

Oh wait, what? Hexen? You got Hexen off Steam? o.O  Man, that game is like a dinosaur and they're offering it? Posted Image

Ah. You didn't mention quarians in your original post. I imagine you could find just about any type or configuration of ship in the Flotilla somewhere. Posted Image

I'm new to the Fanfic area, only two chapters and a prologue. Any tips to maximize viewership. I've submitted to many groups on deviant art.And I hate fanfiction.net.

It's about Tali. And Shepard. But every romance lover would like this. Especially chapter 1. Short but sweet. Link in signature.

No idea how to gain more viewers on Deviantart. That website has a serious organization issue that seems pretty overwhelming to deal with in regards to filtering what you want to find. So easy for your submission to get lost in the masses of other submissions.

I'll give it a read (I'll usually read anything Tali-related), but I don't have a deviantart account anymore, so if you want c&c I'll have to PM you it or something :\\

@ hot_heart: Hey, you've still got mine to read, :P

Speaking of Miranda, I wonder what Chuck would make of all of us playing ME3, and being able to romance a digital woman who shares so many traits with the object of his infatuation.

@ Cmdr Ken: honestly, I think the most important advice I can offer is to have fun with it. as long as you enjoy what you've crafted, you'll never look at the work as wasted time. Good reviews are icing on the cake, and a great motivator besides.

@ lilitheris: better hands my quad!!! also, I totally vote for Salarians being colorblind (the "dog years " comment in ME2's bachelor party, haha)

Have you ever edited something... Then felt like you either made it worse or still feel it's horrible? I think I should start editing after I write each time. Would make this a lot easier. Though of course my slow pace doesn't help...

Sure, it doesn‘t automatically work every time…I actually had a really hard time readjusting a line just last night. Now, of course, I realize that I should just have made the difficult-to-include part a codex entry…

I don’t think there’s been anything that I have ultimately been dissatisfied with that I published, but there’s always something to improve.

Incidentally, here’s said codex entry:

:

Languages and translators. Languages are naturally very varied in the galaxy. Most species still have multiple languages in use, usually regionally or by clan or similar, but a common language used within the species—like English is for humans.

The translators nearly everyone has equipped are extremely powerful, having been in use and constant development for closer to two thousand years. They are perfectly capable of translating any languages they’re programmed for with microsecond delays—essentially as well, or better, as a native speaker’s brain can. These are used in the cases where there is no common language, or when a party feels they would be limited by their skill. The translators also emulate the speaker‘s voice, simplifying the experience, and by default modulate the actual foreign-language speech out from the stream going through the aurals. The only unsolved problem is that in a face-to-face conversation, the speaker’s words will be out of sync with the speech. This can be disconcerting.

Partially for this reason, the Citadel established a common language early on. As the asari were the first species, and the salarians who came next were quick learners, the language chosen was the common tongue of the asari, Astran. It is used for all official and public communications, and widely used in everyday life. All Systems Alliance personnel learn Astran—in fact, most schools on Earth have begun teaching it as their second language in the decades after humans joined the galactic community.

Astran is from the Thessian republic of Astra. The name derives from the word for ‘mountainous region‘ because Astra spreads along most of the significant highlands of Thessia. (Nos Astra, the capital of Illium, means something like ‘the mountainous region which we built’.) The vast natural resources and shelter of Astra made it the biggest player in Thessian politics and economy, leading to the dominant role of its language.

Serran is the language of Serra, the republic in which the city of Serrice lies, and whence Liara T’Soni is from.

I've finally got the final chapter up on my story and that glorious feeling of finishing something is setting in... probably the best part of an entire project is sitting back and knowing your finished. I gave it a very sorrowful, yet hopeful ending and it felt very fitting for what had been a very bleak story for the entire way through.

Finding an ending was hard, because I wanted something that gave closure to as many of the plot arches as possible, without just outright answering each one in a list.

I still feel like however, I've got some additional closure to give readers, especially on a few of the plot arches that I couldn't just find room to conclude. Since the story may of technically 'ended' on Chapter 40, the idea of doing that other alternate ending as an epilogue is good, because it gives me some very nice space for additional elaberation without having to find someway to make previous events relevent.

For this project, I'm totally thankful I didn't drop it it after it had failed to pick up any interest after enduring ten chapters of minimal interest. Now TNSO has achieved a significant amount of reviews, followers and subscribers both to the story and me as an author. I gave up on it halfway through and left it for three months before I even came back and did a chapter. It was defintely hard to get written.

Congrats Sqeawm!

I'm still in the beginning phase. Would anyone volunteer to read and give notes on what I have so far? Not sure what to do with it..its just a random Word document, at least it has a title.

Awesome, Sweawm!

Have you considered alternatively doing maybe a series of one-shots to round out the loose ends?

Congrats on the finish, Sweawm! And actually, you might want to consider lill's idea. A series of one-shots might be a nice way to tie up loose ends!

Oh, and Cmdr. Ken: Sorry I haven't said it sooner. Welcome to the thread. Lots of great writers here. It's a good bunch to run ideas and questions by, as I'm sure you've noticed by now.

Mazel tov, Sweawm!

It's always great to follow something through to the end and have it feel like it paid off.

@Cmdr. Ken Shepard: I also welcome you to the thread. I hope you find great help here.

Congrats, Sweawm!

D'oh. Just caught myself out with an old 'asking questions of your writing' exercise.

This one being: is a character acting like this because they've read the script or because it makes sense?

Fortunately, it's only a minor thing but I am fussy...

Been writing like a fiend for hours, and thought I might be able to get a new chapter up this morning, but unfortunately my mind has crashed over the last 20 minutes. Sadly I think I need to sleep. Writing tired is a horrible thing to do (at least for me... my writing seems to lose all logic).

I cannot for the life of me think of a name for a new type of asari fighter. Ordinarily this is not the sort of thing I have trouble with, but I'm too tired to focus, and I don't want to continue referring to it as "prototype fighter," though I suppose it doesn't make much difference since I've been doing that for 11 and a half chapters so far... Posted Image

I hope everyone has a pleasant and productive day! As for me... Posted Image

You can upload them in the document manager, and then there’s a separate step to publish it… On the site, you can use the DocX feature to send a copy of an uploaded document to another FFN user.

@Drussius: Whifflebat?

Fail for me, looks like I have  to wait a couple days to use stuff anyway on the site.

@Drussius : How about the name Chandra, have a friend with that name and spelling...always thought it seemed Asari-ish.
