Okay... Just a common sense warning to my fellow writers. Do not try to write while you have a fever. Geez. I wrote about 4,000 words yesterday while I was in bed with a fever of 103... Feel fine now, but going back through what I wrote while I was sick, some of it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever...

For example:

The bloated bulk of the cannibal she ducked behind cover while grenade exploded before she realized they were under attack...

What??? Not even I know what the hell that was supposed to get across. Time for a massive overhaul of half the Chapter!

Haha, yeah. I've taken a slight break from writing while I recuperate because if I'm really sick and I write, it ends up as absolute nonsense. :P Kind of like that magical sentence you provided...:wizard:

Haha, a friend does 'random sentence generator' poetry.  Reminded me of one of his musings ^^

So, I've been doing a 'Lill' and analysing my FF.net readership numbers (no colourful graphs sorry). I don't really get it.

For 'less good' chapters (as I shall describe them), there are less readers, but if subsequent chapters are 'good' readership goes back up. I would have expected a steady decline as people get turned off or do other things or whatever, but my analysis (and my tenuous application of 'good chapter' / 'less good chapter') shows that 'good chapters' get higher views, 'less good' chapters get fewer views.

This makes little logical sense unless there is some kind of 'scroll factor' to how it counts readers, i.e. it only counts if the reader scrolls all the way to the end. Hm, that'd make sense, unless the reader uses REALLY small fonts. Sorry, pondering as I write here lol.

Any views?

It's nice to know I have my uses, so thanks Posted Image.

Also I think I'll pop in and read your story. I really need a break from my own headache fic right now. I don't usually leave reviews (because I'm shy about that sort of thing), but I'll make an effort to try - if that would help you.

well, if you feel shy about reviews, pm me instead, works just as well

Yeah it all makes no sense... Wait til you post a fic with OCs and not actual characters watch the dump in numbers there. I was ready for it though.

But with Turnabout the numbers were all over the place, most for chapter one since as soon as you link to the story it sends you there

Is the Miranda thread on lockdown or something? I saw the splinter thread and its subsequent closure, but what gives with the main one, I now have no posting rights there?

I was reading some stuff there and I can see why they did it. I mean those involved probably think nothings wrong with it but as an outsidee looking in, I would never ever express my opinions there.

It wasn't just because of the Miranda thread (and I don't think it's as bad as people make out, just a couple of troublesome members), though that may have factored into the timing.

With the earlier survey and community discussion at Gamescom, there have been plans for some sort of shake-up. This is part of that.

What I wouldn't give to find a 1-year XBox Gold subscription card lying in the street or something. With the new MP DLC coming up, this is one of those times that I hate living on such a restrictive budget. I have to admit that MP was my guilty pleasure. And some of the new features sound pretty awesome. And one of them totally ripped off an idea planned for future Chapters of my fic. But I'm doing it anyway because I like it too much to exclude it now.

:pinched: Now I wish I was good at Street Fighter 4. My friend's school gaming club is hosting a tournament in two weeks and that's one of the prizes.

However, if there's ever a Virtua Fighter tourney with that as a prize, I may be able to win one with my rather superior Pai skills :) Alas, the VF scene in Ottawa is non-existent, though...

Ah, Street Fighter 4... The game that marked my permanent retirement from fighting games. After losing in a staggering 192 consecutive matches against the final opponent in single-player mode, the disc was snapped in two... or actually about 2 million... those things explode when broken, I discovered. Then my controller met the wall at very high speeds... And I officially decided it was too expensive to ever purchase or play such a game again.

If I haven't mentioned it before... and I know I have... yes, I do have anger issues from time to time.

Edit: But in my defense, I have not struck a living creature in anger since I was a freshman in high school. My issues result in property damage, not injury or pain. Not that that's much better...

Game rage ^^  Going back a bit (and maybe an obscure reference), a friend once lost a game of 'Subbuteo' so proceeded to pick each man up off the felt playing field to carefully and methodically stamp on each one.  That was almost disturbing lol.  Though yes, a few joypads have died at his hands over the years.  And yes, it is a friend, not a 'friend'  -.-

On the 'romance forums' discussion.

There is a great rule for all internet conversations (since when did 'internet' require a capital letter? stupid chrome spell check), if something can be taken the wrong way, it will be taken the wrong way. The most innocuous of comments on those threads can cause WW3. It's like being back at school, only less mature. I only ever jump into those threads, look at the nice pics, and get the hell out again.

Personally, I'm not sure if BioWare saying 'can't everyone just get along?' does anything to alleviate the situation when they close splinter threads. Dictating how the users discuss things is a bit heavy IMHO.

*throws tuppence*

Got banned a bit ago, sadly. :( Last I heard, she wasn't sure if she was going to fight it.

Hah, eah, the game can be pretty frustrating.
And on top of that, my roommate is the best Dan Hibiki (the joke character) player in Canada, and is generally a supreme troll in the game. Makes it hard to learn when the guy's just trouncing me with 'Dan pressure' and finishing every round with taunts:P

Yeah, not really my place to say why. I'd say if you have any questions, or whatever, she's still hanging around FFnet, AO3, twitter, etc.

Seriously? lill got banned? What the heck for? I mean me and her argued one time, but even during that she never did anything inappropriate or disruptive. I cannot imagine her doing something that would get her banned. And she has done so many awesome things on this board. Like, say, organizing the Fanfic list and this thread right here!

Not cool, Bioware. Not cool. Posted Image

I'm not entirely sure of the context of the situation, since I don't really use the character specific threads anymore, but there was a bit of a thing that happened. If you're curious, check her post history, or ask her. Not really my place to explain, not that I feel confident that I could.

^ Can we start a petition to bring her back?

RE: hit graphs and whatever thingy you were talking about earlier. I don't really understand any of it on FFN and I'm not that bothered. Hey, if someone manages to make it to the end of one my chapters; I should give them a cookie - not the other way around Posted Image.

I'm also misleading everyone and have my story under the wrong tags. Lots of general cleanup to do and I'm holding back on all that until I've finished my latest chapter which has taken me a month to write...and I'm still stuck on it. *slams face against a desk* Posted Image
