as i said in my last post, what if he dies later on instead, as Satris's  mission would put him in the right place at the right time to take his place (those who have read my 'fic, you know what i mean)

Again DS it is apparent you really want him in your story and no matter what we say you are going to do it. You keep asking basically the same question and we keep giving you the same answer, Thane died when he did for a reason and it was a good death. If you want to change it feel free, it is you fan fic. We can't really answer that question any better then we already have

Aye. I ean, I really liked Thane's exit in the game, but some writers have taken moments I loved from the games and changed them so drastically, yet it still wound up very good.

So do what you wish, I doubt it would alienate any readers, and if you have an idea of a good send-off, then go for it :)

Hey everyone. Its been a while since I've been on this thread. I just felt really discouraged to write for some odd reason, which is why it's taken me a month to write out my new chapter.

Chapter 15: Transparency

It's certainly not my best, but I just wanted to write /something/ because its been way to long. Also, I feel pretty proud of the nightmare sequence I wrote in this chapter.

Let me know what you think!

Could a world house both amino acid and dextro acids, I know earth does on a small scale but I mean a much large as having two different life forms. So bascially would turians and human (as an example) share a world? I cant add more to the question without completely blowing open a lot of my story, but if anyone requires more infor I cam PM them

Sorry for my recent absence guys. Been hella busy. If you'd like more details, I posted some info on the ITU thread. Anyway, hopefully I'll be present here a little more.

RE: Thane.

I always think his mortality is an important part of his character, but I'm not opposed to a cure. HOWEVER, I do believe that it needs to be balanced out somehow.
What I did with Thane was have him captured by Cerberus, who created a cure with the intent of using it as political leverage to turn the Drell into a client race of Humanity, essentially enslaving them. Shepard busts into the lab, gets a hold of the cure, and has a choice: 1, give the cure to an unconscious Thane, saving his life but using up the only viable sample of the cure, meaning that its recreation could take months or even years. 2, keep the cure and send it to the Drell for mass production, saving many more lives but at the cost of the cure being too late for Thane, who by the time it is readily available will have degenerated too much.

In either case, Thane would survive to see the end of the Reaper war, in keeping with his ME2 time estimate (aided by him being in cryo between ME2 and ITU). But the only way to ensure a long life for him is to pay a heavy price that will rest on his conscience more heavily than anything else he's done.

Of course, I got a bunch of my readers trying to come up with a middle ground that got him out alive without the cost, to which I had to respond with a bunch of 'NO! This is how it will be, so I have spoken!'. Funnily enough, the vote ended up almost unanimously for giving the cure to the Drell instead of Thane.

RE: DNA chirality.

I would say that a planet couldn't support a large population of mixed levo and dextro. For that, you'd need large areas of farmland for both, something that'd be so large it'd have to be open to the environment. I wouldn't want to guess what would happen to the crops if tried to cross-pollenate across chirality. At best, the crops wouldn't germinate. At worst, they'd die or even become poisonous to eat. One half of the biosphere would be poisonous to the other. Animals would get sick or even die from simply foraging. saying nothing of how a Human would react to the pollen of a Turian plant. That could be some extreme hayfever.

The only way it would work was with a small population of one or the other, whose food is grown in small, airtight and self-contained units.

So reading up a little bit more on L amino acid and D amino acid I see they are the opposite of each other, all of the site I've gone to say that L amino acid is important in the production of protien and that L amino acid is also found in bacteria on Earth, as is several drugs we use to combat desease. It is also found in sugar and mint. there would be no mixing on a planet any way not to the degree of plants mixing with plants. D amino acids have nothing to do with the grown of plants.

In reading all of this I was beinging to wonder if l amino acid is what builds protien then what exactly do Turians eat?

:D You could use it as a buffer, I suppose. I have a chapter in the wings right now for next week, because i know it'll be busy. So if you feel that you want the comfort to have some flexibility and keep something back in case you run out of time in the future, it could be a good idea.

Or you could do what I normally do, which is release it because it's done and you want it out the door :P

I know the stats mean nothing but have you ever had that time where you got more hitd for a chapter you didnt think was particularly interesting, like a filler... weird

^ Not specifically that outcome in my case, but I looked at the stats yesterday for my story and was wondering why Chapter 21 of my story has literally double the hits - both views and visitors - of any other Chapter in the story besides Chapter 1.

Edit: Also, about being a Chapter ahead, while I would understand the urge to post your new Chapter immediately, but there's something to be said for being a Chapter (or four) ahead. If something happens in life and you're forced to cut back on writing, it takes a ton of the pressure off... if you're the type that pressures yourself to stay on a deadline.

Thankfully I'm not. I'm writing these stories for fun. If it's becoming a chore for me to write, if something in my life is interefering with my desire/ability to write or if I just can't figure out what to do next, I stop writing. Giving myself a deadline just makes it seem like...work and that sucks all the fun out of it for me. I havent finished a chapter in something like 3 and a half months - I'm ok with that because I haven't had the time or the inclination to do so. It'll get done when I get really inspired and write a whole bunch more.

Have you ever had a story idea come up while writing something else and become very excited about it but not sure if you should start it cause you already have something else on the go

That's the great thing about stories...you can think up really exciting ideas, and pursue them. You have zero obligation to stick to any of your stories so persistently at the expense of other ideas.

Write what makes you excited :) Otherwise, you might end up feeling trapped in whatever other stories you have going on.

^While I agree to most of this, I have to admit it's a bit disconcerting when you find yourself with dozens of stories you've started but never finished. A couple here and there isn't bad, but you find that you've only completed one story out of the twenty-five you've published, maybe it's time to slow down and try to commit yourself to a couple of fics at a time.

Like fluffy said, you don't have any obligation to hoard all your creative energy to just one idea, but as a reader, I would prefer it if I get the impression that you plan to finish your original story too. Nothing irritates me more than finding a perfectly good story with a compelling plot and interesting characters, only to discover the author has long since abandon the universe, which can be for a variety of reasons.

Otherwise, yeah, go with the idea flow by all means. Just don't leave your stories half-done then leave them. That's just my opinion as a reader.

Hi Spirit, I had that rather recently. I wrote 4 chapters of the "idea" story without publishing to both see if the idea was one I wanted to pursue, and to see if I could write two stories at once. I've just published the first chapter and now have two on the go because I was pleased enough that I could do both!

Might be worth considering?

I have already started the prolouge cause, yeah I was excited, the story I am writing now was supposed to be an ongoing thing anyway, like a TV series, something to return to when I was finished other stories. I had a lot of stories (And torture) planned for that lot of characters. I haven't stopped the story flow with them, this just hit so suddenly and it's a character I really wanted to do something with for awhile cause everyone makes her out to be evil and goofy and I really don't think she deserve it so I wanted to give her something.

Yeah. I mentioned a few days ago that I had an idea for a side story, but was having trouble actualizing it. And I felt guilty for straying away from my main story, even though I'm several Chapters ahead. I may still try it, but only if I can finish my current Chapter and then write the whole side story by a certain date. Otherwise I'll just file it away for some other time.

Holy popsicle batarangs, I hate research proposals. Never in my life have I experienced such a seething hatred over schoolwork.Got my small proposal done, got my 5 page proposal done, and now I have an 8 page proposal (not 6-8, not 8-10, but exactly 8...and only 8 pages. Otherwise, docked marks) to finish by monday morning. That's not so bad, but this is the shortest research term paper of them all. I have basically two twenty page papers (which I finished the proposals for), but this one....this paper is 8-10 pages.

How does that make any sense? I'm supposed to write a proposal that's the minimum length of the actual thing? What? Come on fhqwhgads! That's not fair! And I'm only allowed to use eight sources in the proposal (but I NEED at least 14 peer reviewed sociological sources in the final paper...go figure).

Seriously. When I'm done (read: i won't be, because right after that is a big 33% midterm, and then reading responses, and two minor critical analysis papers, and a larger assignment, and then the three term papers) I'm skipping ahead in my fic and will write the fluffiest piece of fluff there ever was written! GUH! FHQWHGADS!

So fair warning, anyone who reads my story. November will be a **** slow month. I'll make up for it in December.

Did someone say Fluff? Posted Image

Seriously though, Sorry to hear about the proposal woes. My proposal was only a few lines. I believe it went something like... "I'm a little nervous, so I'm just going to say this... Will you marry me?" Posted Image

Okay, now I'll really be serious. I'm just in a jolly mood this evening it seems. I can tell you're a little frustrated, so I hope that you manage to work it out somehow despite what sounds like some rather bizarre requirements. Just make sure you come up for air from time to time. Can't let these silly responsibilities get you down. But at least you can look forward to writing the fluffiest piece of fluff ever. Eye on the prize.

If you can afford to, I'd say take the night off and do something fun. You can get back to the schoolwork tomorrow. Unless you can't spare even one night. In which case.... I've got nothing. Posted Image

Haha, thanks :)
I think once 11:30 rolls around, I'll take a breather and leave the rest for tomorrow.  Maybe when I hand these in on Monday, I'll stop by the dollar store and buy $10 of balloons. And fill my room with them. Take THAT dismal schoolwork!

But yeah, I'll try to make sure I don't implode from the stress. it's just really difficult, because I've been milling away at these for the past few days, and my friends and roommates have been bugging me to do things with them, but i haven't been able to, and they're off at some pre-halloween party tonight...and here I am, still working away. I wish I could take a night off...that MIGHT happen Thursday if i get enough done Monday night, but I'm not sure if that will be possible. Monday's a long day of school for me (8:30-8:00 without transit time included).  Still, I think I might have to force it and deal with the consequences, because my brain will need a breather.

But yes, eyes on the prize...I outlined the scene about a month ago, and I've been letting things flow naturally, keeping everything in order, but I may have to break that consistency soon. It's been so long since I've written meaningful fluff that had a happy ending and lasted more than a paragraph or two. That dry stretch has been bad enough, being a hopeless romantic, but with all this stress...I think I'm going to need it. I'm going to need something. May as well be that scene.=]

Anywho, I've spent close to four minutes on this, so I'd best get back. I shall take the advice, 11:30 finish, and I'll set aside the rest for tomorrow. That'll give me at least two hours of fun/relax time. I hope that doesn't bite me in the arse, but I've been in worse situations. Might have to skip part of a class reading for Monday, but oh well. That's small time and worth zero marks anyway.

Edit: Thanks Spiritwolf and ObsG! I shall write fluff soon enough (hey, that rhymed)!
