my suggestion would be to go on some art threads and ask around, its probably your best bet.

In ME1, biotic users pretty much stick with light armour. Except Wrex, but as a krogan that's understandable. In ME2, armour weight doesn't come into the equation. In ME3, weapons weight is the issue.
What does any of that mean? Who knows.
Hence the confusion.
Thanks to all who responded.
Did MP early to meet the weekend challenge. Plenty of superballs shooting across the map. The poor sods have no chance

Hence the confusion.I was trying to decide if I should follow the 'lore' set in ME1 but that kinda feel restrictive. Guess I don't have to bother.

Sorry I haven't been around to comment or I would have weighed in sooner. But if you think about it logically, what possible reason could there be for armor of any specific weight to slow down biotic use? Or weapons, for that matter? Those strike me as game-related issues (don't want the player wearing the best possible armor/using the best possible weapons in combo with biotics? Have armor/weapon weight slow them down!). Arguments could definitely be made to go with ME game lore since that's the basis for the story, and that's fine. But I haven't restricted myself that way in my story, or even mentioned it, and no one has complained, so I think you'd be safe either way.
And ME MP has changed a lot since I had to give up XBox Live. Just got it back and played a few games of MP as part of a team, and then realized that it's easier to rack up the points to meet the challenges if you just do it solo, since you're not sharing kills with three other people. And so here I am with a Gold account again and I'm playing multiplayer.... alone.

That's what I dislike about certain multiplayer achievements and the people who pursue them to the detriment of the gaming experience.Drussius wrote...

I just don't pay attention to them. The last two weekend challenges for ME3 MP were terrible, too, as they really highlighted that solo was the best course to achieve them. At least that's changed with the current one.
Also, agreed on the gameplay/story segregation thing. If it seems more like a mechanic, it might be best to reason it out and see if it actually makes some sense or has some justification.

Feels good. I might not finish november with an incredibly sparse chapter output after all!
Feelin' fantastic!
As for the armor/biotics bit, I think it's mostly a gameplay mechanic, but I figure armor is heavy. Reduced mobility is bad news if you're fighting a biotic, and I'd imagine that it could get pretty exhausting, using biotics while wearing heavy armor, which could end up making those subtle trigger movements(or avoiding attacks) harder as fighting stretches on, seeing as how biotics sap one's energy(which isn't covered within game mechanics). It might not be a huge issue, depending on the person, but it would likely be a lot easier to be wearing lighter armor, unless you're krogan

That's interesting. And I agree, armor weight would be a problem for biotic usage. The asari commandos always seemed to be in a sort of "space leather" light armor, probably for precision use. Jack in ME3 instructing her students to load up on juice and energy bars leads me to believe exhaustion is a real danger, so it'd be like the fatigue system in Dragon Age: Origins; heavier armor reduced the amount of stamina used to execute special attacks. The Krogan seem to have a strong horse-like body structure and density, where armor weight would be a nonissue if they distributed it across their hump or shoulders. Plus Krogan don't really use biotics for precision like asari/drell do, yea?fluffywalrus wrote...

Well, anyway, it's the set of lies I tell myself when crafting a biotic Shepard character, particularly a vanguard.

Haha, I'm in pretty much full agreement.
My vanguard Shep...she's not all that great with precision. Ask her to charge, she'll charge. Ask her to toss out a biotic throw, she will, in that general direction. Ask her to use a pinpoint singularity and she'll look at you like you're a unicorn.

Yup. I hate being classified as that guy, because in the game, the scoreboard at the end of a match means absolutely nothing to me and when I'm on a team, I play as a part of the team. I just want the credits so I can finish unlocking everything...
But unfortunately, the addition of the Challenges puts me into a very solo-oriented mindset because I'm a completionist. I've had my Gold account back for four days and have so far wracked up 1435 challenge points, plus completed both of the week's challenges... All solo. Of course, I'm happy to play with other people when the mood strikes (and would be happy to join you for a game sometime, Satris) and when I do I am definitely a team player. I'm not the guy that ignores my downed teammates or refuses to get in the hack circle. But to quickly get the 75,000 or 140,000 points with Power X or Weapon Y for the challenges, doing it solo is much, much faster.
MP has definitely changed since I last played though. Love the hazard boards. Both very cool, and can't wait to see some others. On the other hand, they seem to have improved the tactics of the AI, which is annoying for soloing. I used to be able to kite the enemies away from objectives to get them done. Nowadays, 70% of the enemies stubbornly camp on the objectives and refuse to leave. I can't believe how many missiles I've had to waste clearing hack zones when I used to be able to just shoot a few guys and lead the rest on a merry chase... And high-end enemies now respawn on bronze if you kill them during objective waves. They didn't used to do that. Used to be, if I killed the dumb Banshee or the Phantom or whatever on wave 10, I could do the objectives without worrying about her. Now she just spawns a sister...
And don't even get me started on how annoying the Collectors are... I swear those stupid Praetorians have about thirteen-billion HP...
On more positive matters: Congrats Fluffy on the productive day yesterday. I know very well how nice it feels to power through that sort of work. I hope you gave yourself a well-deserved reward.

Edit: Finally found my own answer thanks anyway
ENHANCEMENT: Improvements of natural human abilities is legal, but adding new abilities is not. Treatments to improve strength, reflexes, mental ability, or appearance are permitted; adding a tail or the ability to digest cellulose is not. Some genetic enhancement is provided for free to Alliance military recruits, but the average citizen must pay for the privilege. The process can take years to reach fruition in an adult.

true about the medi-gel, but i often have luck with my teammates, i usually get at least one who heals you all the time, or at least often, and i myself will usually heal my teammates unless they've p****d me off or i cant do it because of suicide riskSpiritwolf1 wrote...
They feel of MP when it started was very team like but now not so much. It's becoming more like everything else. Lately Ive been running around doing the team task while my team is killing and racking up the points. Also healing is almost non exsistant. I was laying at a guys feet the other day and he didnt heal me til I finally yelled at him. Medi gel is like gold man, if I dont have to use I dont want to and as a team I shouldnt have to

I'm the same. As I said before, I like being a team player when I have a team. If an ally is bleeding out and I can save them without dying, I will. But if you want to guarantee I'll save you no matter what, play a female quarian. For some reason I just can't watch a female quarian bleed out. I'll burn missiles to get there if I have to. Something about those quarians...
Some people just are more interested in topping the leaderboard, and I hate those guys. This is a true story: I was once part of a team on bronze where everyone was ignoring objectives and trying for kills. I was doing the objective on wave six, and I got gunned down by a Rocket Trooper. He was just about to stomp me and then BAM! My team's vanguard hits him with a biotic charge and saves me. I was so happy. For about 1 second. Then he biotic charged off to kill something else and left me to bleed out....
Edit: Congrats on getting back to the fic, Mose. Nothing wrong with sharing.

I do try and be a team player (the number of executions I've interrupted...) but for some objectives, a vanguard can do a better job as a distraction (or someone able to thin out enemy numbers faster than they can recover). I really want is a krogan vanguard though, that heavy melee never gets old! MMRRRRRRRRAAAHH-HAHAHA
