Greetings everyone! :)

I'd like to ask a few things, I hope you know the answer to better than I do.

Can the Normandy's shuttle go FTL?
What is it's maximum travel distance?
Is there any detailed lore on asari physiology that details their physical properties, regarding organs, and their skin?

Thank you for your help!

I believe shuttles are capable of FTL.

As for the asari thing, perhaps lillitheris' own guide might help. Otherwise, she may pitch in via PM. We shall see.

1) Cerberus Shuttles were capoable of FTL in ME2, I see no reason the Alliance shuttle wouldn't be.

2) I have no idea. I BELIEVE that the main limiting factors are life support and power supply, both of which have to be limited on a ship the size of the shuttle.

3) Here

Since we're all the way at the bottom of page one, I just decided to bump the topic with a random, off-topic question... Did anyone here happen to watch the Video Game Awards and see the section with Shepard and Femshep nominated for character of the year? It was short, but I found the whole thing rather amusing. Especially Garrus at the end.

Hope everyone had a decent Saturday.

Edit: If you haven't seen it and you'd like to, it's here: Shepard Nominee Character of the Year

Dang, Garrus rock. So does femSehp .... no comment on guyShep. :innocent: Tis a funny vid but reminds me of the good stuff about ME, when witty dialogue rules. Biotic God! :P

ME deserves to win some awards but definitely, imo, not GOTY.

Don't worry I'm not here to mope on someone's shoulder Image IPB.

I have what is probably a random question given the recent frivolities of that vid above.

Does anyone happen to know what Ward ME1 takes place in? I know that ME2 is in Zakera and that Shepard hasn't been there before. So the shortlist is down to Kithoi, Tayseri, Bachjret and Shalta-Aroch (two conflicting names for the fifth Ward have been given so I've just conveniently merged them together).

If anyone knows the answer to this, I'd be grateful. Image IPB

I don't believe it's ever been specified, sadly. :\\

Yeah, I don't think it's ever stated.

I assume that when you visit Anderson/Udina in ME2, that it is the same location from ME1. So, considering how damaged Tayseri Ward is still said to be after Sovereign's attack, you can rule that one out.

^ Thanks. Yeah, I don't think it's Tayseri either. I think that it's safe to assume that when you visit Anderson/Udina in ME2, it is the same location as in ME1 since it looks so similar. However, in ME3 did humanity acquire a brand new pad?

it would seem so, at another place in the presidium

Hello folks sorry to intrude but I have a couple of daft questions to ask.
1) What's the general consensus on Mass Relay travel time, is it seconds, minutes or longer? (I only ask as it seems to increase with each game. Compare ME's opening cinematic with ME3's close)
2) Swearing? Is it better to use good-ol' **** or just print as spoken? I know * can work brilliantly for comedy (wish I could remember the title of that work it deserves promoting, it's a Jack fic). But does it hinder more 'dramatic/serious/(pretentious)' pieces? Or does asking the reader to insert their own words increase their immersion? This came about 'cause I *d a piece, then later when a friend of mine read it he filled in the blanks differently to me.
Anyway rambled enough would appreciate any thoughts you care to share.

Most of the cinematics through the games suggest it's a matter of seconds. At the end of the first game, for example, Hackett says he's at the Arcturus Relay with the whole fleet, and a second later, poof! Reinforcements. The second game was similar. Hit the Omega-4 relay and a blur and a few seconds later, poof! Avoiding debris in the galactic core.

As for swearing, I personally think it's a little silly to star them out. If your story is rated M (or maybe even T) and there's a warning about language somewhere, people should be prepared for it. Plus, I always think the author should write his or her own story, rather than leaving bits of it for the audience to fill in on their own

But those are just my thoughts. Others may disagree. In the end, it's your story and it's up to you.

For Star Wars, when they travelled through hyperspace, it was shown that it could take hours, depending on the destination.

For Babylon 5, it's the same thing when ships used the jumpgates.

For ME, transition through the relay seem instantaneous, point to point. I suppose it's travelling through or outside systems  and shifting from primary to secondary relays that would take longer.

Exactly. According to the codex, using a relay is "instantaneous" although in cinematics it seems to be a matter of seconds, not instantaneous. But FTL travel from system to system or travel inside of a system takes some time. By FTL, according to the codex, a ship can go about 15 light years in a day. In systems, where FTL supposedly isn't allowed (I still can't find where the codex says that, though), travel could take much longer. It supposedly took a couple of hours according to ME2 just to get from the mass relay in the Omega system to the Omega-4 Relay in the same system, just a short distance away.

So relay to relay best classified as PDQ, thanks folks it's always nice to receive replies. Plus now that I thought about it some more there's no noticable comm-lag on the council debriefs in ME. As for in-system travel I've always head-cannoned that they travel at just under Light Speed, for traffic control/safety, then accelerate if travelling out-system on a safe vector. Still doesn't really explain the ME2 Omega scenario though.
On the language topic thanks Drussius, as you say it's not really a right/wrong question but it is something I thought peculiar enough to ask for other's views.

Hey guys! House move is now completely over (aside from stopping people from taking money for a house I no longer live in).

I'm working on a pile of stuff for the anniversary next week, but I'm still hoping for a few pieces of fanfic set in the ITU setting, and was wondering if anybody could help me out? I'm looking for anything. A little comedy skit, a parallel version of a scene, a little bit of backstory, a whole mini-mission. If anyone has a little free time and some itchy typing fingers, please get in touch with me! I'm currently neck-deep in a few bits I'm writing myself for publication on the anniversary, but a little help would be really warmly appreciated.
