Figured it's worth asking you guys this as well. Might provide a little fun, and I haven't done a Question of the Week-type thing in a while.
What sort of nickname do you think Vega would give Miranda?
(Or feel free to share 'Vega-style' nicknames you've created for other characters)
Because of my story and the context, I'm leaning towards something 'respectful' rather than simple. I think 'dama de oros' (queen of diamonds) has a nice ring (LOLPUN) to it, and is most likely the one I will go for. Otherwise there was 'chica dura' (tough girl) which sounds better by virtue of being Spanish, though maybe not great.
Miranda fans seem fond of 'Legs' or 'Frosty', being that Vega tends to reserve Spanish for people he likes/respects. To be honest, I'm not particularly fond of either, but then I may not be the best judge of Vega's character (as evidenced earlier).
James is very simple and I can't see him caling her dama de oros at all, sorry. It would laso depend on how he viewed her, does he trust her, is he wary of her. With James it is all in how he views people, in relation to him as well and when I say simple I take James as the kinda one name kinda guy, like Lola, I can see Legs maybe not Frosty though, Frosty is oneof those nicknames reserved for people with the last name Frost. James is also a smart guy. I would think maybe Athena, or even Belladonna a deadly but beautiful flower, just simple... (Bella for short , but might bring up Bad movie memories for some people)

'Randy'? Sorta derived from her real name, sorta insulting, as all the best nicknames are.

I quite like Bella, despite the obvious connotations, because it is likely something Vega would opt for.

You mean as in the Kickstarter being funded? Yeah, good news.
Something is better than totally nothing. I already threw in my pledge. I defintely want Ragnar Tornquist to continue the story, heck, even if it's in novels. Another point in DF Chapters TLJ's favour, the creator of the story wants to move forward. I hope he brings back April Ryan's journal. I really want to know what happened to her in those missing 10 years that changed her into a dark bitter woman. She is the first game character (I only have 2 and April overshadows Shepard I'm afraid) I emotionally invested in and it hurt to see her so. When DF ended as it did, despite how it is, I harbour hope. I have little connection with Zoe, even though she might be the key to fixing April's problem.

Anyhoo, as per Vega's pet names for Miri...honestly, I can see Miri doing the "don't make one" speech that you can have Shep give him. If he had to give her one, I could see her as "Icey," for the ice queen connotation, perhaps "smooth" as in smooth moves, or "curves" for obvious reasons. I like how Koobismo had him call Javik "Broody," so it kinda fits.
EDIT: OOH, how about "hotpants?" nah...she'd kill him, haha
PS: soooo looking forward to an honest sequel to TLJ. Secret World was fun, but it's good to see a return to form.

I guess it had to happen sooner or later. For months, I've been in a writing frenzy, putting a few thousand words down every day... Now suddenly I find myself unable to get into the groove. My last Chapter went up on Sunday, and since then I've only managed to write about 1,000 words that I intend to use. I have a buffer of four Chapters, so I can still release my next Chapter on schedule, thankfully, but I doubt I'll have a new Chapter finished in time at this rate... so my buffer is about to shrink.
The problem is, I have reached a point in the story where there are several natural evolutions my story can take, and I'm waffling over which direction to go with it. There are three perfectly good paths, and all three have some good dramatic elements I can run with going forward... But sadly all three also have a few built-in hurdles that I need to figure out how to get around. And for the last two days I've been writing a few paragraphs for one, deciding I don't like it and deleting it, writing something for a different one, hating that, deleting... and so forth.
I am mostly ranting here, but I'm also curious. Has anyone else ever reached a point in their story where there are too many options for where you can go with things, and you can't seem to settle on one and get back into the groove of things?

I had this problem early on when I switched my writing from some little 'behind-the-scenes' stuff and made it more like its own story. I doubt you're in a similar situation though.Drussius wrote...

Rather than writing full-on paragraphs have you tried a treatment instead? Either a general outline or a beat-by-beat breakdown, possibly putting them onto 'scene cards'. That way you can see if any dovetail together or which darlings to kill.
Slightly off-topic: the next ME3 DLC. Yes, yes, YES!

I think Priestly mentioned $14.99 in the thread about it. Was that how much Omega was? I figure this would be about the same price.
Edit: duuuuh, wrong way round lol. More like seven or eight poonds.
"When the adventure is over, reconnect with your favorite characters from the Mass Effect Trilogy" though THAT line has very interesting connotations...

Oh man, that's why I've been lurking for so long. Also being out of the country, but I still managed to check in with a few of you while abroad.
The last 3 chapters I've written are far more difficult that the entire 20 preceding it.
I used the same advice Hot_Heart gave, namely creating an entire skeleton outline for the story. Unfortunately for me, the motivations for several plotlines works will in context, regardless of the way I take it.
My solution? I started banging away at it to see what fell out. I wasn't expecting it to take this many chapters to get to this point, but my story will come to a crossroads somewhen in the next 4 chapters.
At any rate, I feel your pain friend, best of luck!
PS: if I can ever get my lazy bones to finish these next few chapters, I will, FINALLY start posting stuff and sending out betas to my testers. Can't beleive it's taken me so long! I generally keep a 10-20 chapter buffer between uploads (except short stories, those I pretty much post in one go, barring the first chapter for feedback).

Same price as Omega DLC and I seriously doubt there is anything in it worth my time. I'll check fan reviews of course but in a way, I'm glad this is the last DLC. After this, I suppose I can say adios to the game and quit playing MP.

I haven't reaches anything of a similar complexity, but I'll admit for the last day or two i've been frozen, figuring out how the hell I'm going to do some things in my fic that are coming up quickly. My fic as is isn't very AU yet...but all the seeds have to be planted for the ME2 arc, and some of those seeds are damn hard to plant. :\\ So many consequences.
So I kind of get it. it's hard to make a decision, and even after that, it's hard to get through all the rough stuff that comes along with the one you choose. You get some regrets over not choosing another path, it slows your writing, and it's generally not a fun time, productivity-wise.
