1) I'd finished ME3, and was kind of in a grieving process I guess, and I made a few stops by here. Found people talking about a bunch of stuff, and I got scared away from the main board due to all the people talkng about Indoctrination Theory (which IMO would have been much worse than what happened in the game, if it was real and made any sense). Eventually found my way to the character threads, had some fun. People talked a little about fanfics, and I made some throwaway, thoughtless post about having written a bunch of stuff down for my Shep already. PMC65 sent me a message, said she'd be interested in reading up on another origin story, because there weren't so many at the time. I said sure, and gave it a go. I already had enough material.
This too (particularly IT bit hehe).
Edit: Hmm. Top post eh? I think I can find something... (just to say, there is no top post rule here, I just like to pop the odd tableau on if I've something spare)

Zaeed sits on the Citadel wards. Waiting. He feels like he's been waiting an age, the suspense is killing him. The clerk advised it was a one way operation, kill or cure, but he had to try. He stands to pace, but returns to his chair after one circuit.
“Mister Massani?” a clerk calls.
“Yes?” he darts to the counter in anticipation.
“I'm sorry, Mister Massani. There was nothing we could do.”
Zaeed's head drops.
“From what you said, she certainly lived the wild life in her youth.”
“Yes. Yes, she did. I'll always remember that.”
“Good. That's... good. What would you like done with the...”
“Can I see her? Alone. If I may.” Zaeed interrupts.
“Um, I suppose that's not a problem.”
“Thank you.”
The clerk lifts a counter section to let Zaeed in and directs him to a back room. Zaeed enters the dark room, apart from the spot light over the table, a sheet covering his old friend. He lifts the sheet and gasps a little when he sees burnt wires and mechanics hanging out of the body. Zaeed places both his hands on the table's edge to steady himself. He breathes a deep breath in through his nose, then out through his mouth, but is unable to prevent weeping at his loss. It's over. He'd kept her all these years, hoping that one day that they could have their final mission together, but Jessie is no more.
