Plausibility Question: Since we know Leng used a VI to remove footage of him during the Citadel Coup, could Miranda have used something similar to protect her identity for years - to the extent that the Alliance doesn't have identifiable footage of her/know what she looks like (apart from a generally unhelpful description)? Or does that sound extremely unlikely?

edit:  Top post?  Another entry from the 'scrap' file then:  Joker/EDI - Joker's flying a shuttle mission (for once)

“I am fine, Jeff,” EDI’s voice was a murmuring reassurance in the pilot’s ear, “Lieutenant [Cortez] is a competent pilot. His actions so far have not endangered either myself or the crew.”
Joker wasn’t mollified, “Well just keep an eye on him, honey - and don’t let him do anything stupid; like flying you sideways into a Mass Relay.”
There was a definite smile in the AI’s voice as she responded, “Very well, Jeff.”

Sounds good to me, especially since it's linked to an in-game instance.

Given her history and occupation, she must have had that or some way of moving around incognito. Despite Lawson being her actual surname... <_<

Of course, there is that advertising VI on the Citadel in ME2 that recognises her (umm, oops?). Consider that a minor oversight, quickly rectified when she discovered it. :P

Thanks!  I wasn't too sure if extending that VI thing was really plausible -outside of my head! Posted Image

Does Miri actually name her dad in ME2?  Because that was something I was going to change as...well...it annoyed me too!Posted Image  Plus it would be a nice little gesture of trust - Miranda telling Shepard her 'real' name.Posted Image

I don't remember that one - which advert was it for?  Also I can see an annoyed Miranda 'fixing' that little oversight! Posted Image

Well, it was originally posited that he was involved in Eldfell-Ashland Energy (due to Miranda checking news on them in the SB dossiers), though plausibility of him being a founder is questionable since the original two companies were around even before 2137, i.e. nearly 50 years before the games. Despite the increased human lifespan, I think that makes him a bit too old.

Anyway, yes, her recording from Sanctuary says 'my father, Henry Lawson.'  :?

Wish I could find the video. It's one of those 'columns' that cycles through different things ("Shepard, last year, you earned ZERO credits") but also has stuff based on your squadmates as well.

Well Sanctuary is ME3 which...well my opinion on ME3 isn't necessarily polite...so I can 'tweak' that!  Posted Image

I never 'interacted' much with those 'columns' much - I tend to ignore advertising in RL and that has apparently bled through into Mass Effect adverts I guess!  Posted Image Anyway, I apologise to whichever poor sod who put all that effort into the adverts in ME2!

Due to the vagueries of the initial premises, I'd just go with hairless.  Then there's also no need to deal with the 'convention' of shaving legs, which is different discussion altogether...

I'll just edit this one shall I?

Was looking through some of my notes/unused stuff for my sequel and some of it I'm like, "Why the hell didn't you use that?  It's much better than what you went with."  Tsk.

That is all. :)

I concur, Yuri. Good luck on your finals! I believe in you!

As a recently free citizen, I will continue to catch up on sleep. Who just slept 6 hours, had breakfast, did laundry and is now ready for a nap a mere 2 hours later? Me :P

but I'm with you on sleeping! I think when my last exam is done I might sleep for a week or so. if my sisters will let me. maybe i'll install a padlock on the inside of my bedroom door so they can't get in... *ponders*

BWahaha.  Well, at any rate, I think Miri being able to mask herself is plausible.  After all, Kasumi did the exact same thing all the time.

Good luck on finals!  I just finished up with mine two hour ago!  First thing I did?  Knock out the very last action sequence in my story.  Now all I have to do is create a few dialogue scenes, thank goodness!

But before that, I think I will go comatose for a few hours...-_-

Don't know about anyone else, but writing has taken a bit of a backseat at the moment. Christmas...bah humbug! :P

Seriously though, work has been way too busy and then there's all the christmas preparations needed (shopping for four women is tough work!). Just don't think my head's in it at the moment.

Though I must confess I did lose an evening to making a 'Chinese exclamations/curses' reference sheet to use when I play the Firefly board game with friends. So now  I know lots of swears and how to say things like 'Motherless goat of all motherless goats' or call someone a monkey's butt. I also learned there is an Ace Ventura reference hidden among them. :?

Also, this is a little old now, but stumbling across it as a writer, it amused me.

The hands thing amused me, hottie.  Good old Onion.

Anyway, the duck's sliding down a weir, not surfing a wave, but still, the meme holds true.  The Duck is our god, mock ye not the Duck for fear of its wrath.

I'm still working on my latest chapter (a month behind but the readers aren't worried yet haha).  It had to take the back seat while taking my Art History class. Very intense class!  My creative juices got sapped by art. OMG!  I went in with absolutely no idea about art appreciation and came out with a clearer understanding of the art and culture in Europe and nearby regions...From way back in Egypt, Greece, Rome, to the 18th century!  I can safely say I can visually describe what these works of art are trying to tell me and about their culture!  And with a lot of help from the textbook and research. Oh goodness, lots of research!  Too much writing and endless hours writing these essays and art galleries in powerpoint, designing them and all that jazz.  I handed in my last two assignments today with my guided art tour on Baroque and Rococo Art!  Eeegads.  My brain hurts so much. :pinched:

Now I have to figure out what way I want to go in this chapter.  I may have to trick myself to write a version of it that I am procrastating on.  Some insights on what to do but it's putting my fingers to the keyboard and writing no matter if it's good or bad just to get something down.  Then re-write......

Next week, I need to go Christmas shopping for my two nephews, niece, two sisters, brother, mom and dad. I have a few present for some of them but need a few more items to check off my list that they want. :P

Motherless goat? Haha! That's a new one.  I've heard of monkey butt.  I thought Ace Venture was so obnoxious until I started watching the movies... Jim Carey is hilirous in those movies.

Four women? Wow. I hope they gave you hints. ;)  Thanks for the article on hands will read it later. Off to bed.

That's the approach I tend to find works! Maybe it's easier for me, in a sense, because as long as I get the events down, I just have to get inside the character's head to do the monologue stuff and make sure the dialogue sounds alright. I usually bash something out then sit on it for a while and mull it over, so it's always in the back of my mind.

Fortunately, people have put together collections of the Chinese stuff used during the show. The motherless goat one is from when Wash was worried they'd be stuck on Canton. The Ace Venture reference is from Ariel (which also features Mal cursing with 'frog-humping SOB' when he can't remember medical terms).

Everyone really should watch that show. ;)

Oh, they do, but I tend to go 'off-list' and find something I know they'll like. Wouldn't be much of a surprise otherwise.

Sigh. Writing awkward scenes is hard. Especially when you're trying to work them into the middle of a space battle. Maybe I shouldn't have had a scene where Revan and Bastila are flying a shuttle from one ship to another in a Revan/Bastila fic when they aren't together yet. Sigh, so difficult to get the awkwardness right. Have it be that delicious mixture between the reader feeling the awkwardness, and not being over-awkwarded. Is that a word? Never mind, forget that.
Anyways, I have a question of the day idea again! Last night, I got bored and was using ff.net's filter system to look through unusual side-character pairings. Just to see what other people had thought of. That gave me this idea. What odd side-character pairing would you most want to see a fanfic about? Or just in a fanfic that's about something else.
For example. Would you want to see a Kelly/Traynor thing or an EDI/Javik thing, or a Tali/Samara thing.
Or, examples from stuff I've done in Meus Mundus. Kelly/Kasumi, Tali/Lia'Vael(The quarian who the volus is accusing of stealing his credit chit in ME2, for those who don't know who she is), or Jacob/Ashley. or Traynor/Lillith(The colonist lady who is talking to Ash on Horizon when the Collectors hit. I AUd her saved.) Just random things like that. Hmm, what girls don't I have in a pairing yet. Samara, no she wouldn't do that. Shepard's mom, no that would be weird. Parasini? No, I made her evil. Emily Wong? Hmm, can't think of anyone to put her with. Allers? Maybe ship her with Garrus? No, that would be too weird. Maybe with Thane? No, again too weird.
Sorry, I was just thinking and my fingers were typing at the waffle. I meant time, but I will leave that there as an example as to how what I'm thinking messes me up when I'm writing if I don't stay completely focused. One time, I was listening to some music, and Shepard in Meus Mundus ended up saying the lines to Miracle of Sound's Commander Shepard song. It was kinda funny too. I had Mordin looking at her like she was insane. Anyways, I've rambled enough for now.

*edit. Another question. Do you like waffles? Sorry, but, my random thought processes has me thinking about waffles, and I'm curious about your opinion on them. I, of course, like waffles.

My Liara loves a greasy fry up washed down with a mug of sweet milky tea, for similar reasons but also because I've 'English-ified' Liara somewhat. ^^

Any pairing can work I say.  For Samara, I paired her with Detective Anaya from Illium (Samara was impressed with Anaya's dedication to duty despite the risk to her own safety, much like a Justicar's dedication to the Code) but with Samara, still waters run deep and her dedication to the Code is only to hide from the brutal reality of her lot and take it out on the galaxy.  I've toyed with the idea of Hackett/Ashley but as it's quite some time after the assault on Sol, Hackett's quite aged though still mentally fit.  They certainly get on well anyway.

I don't personally have any 'weird' ones I don't think, Ashley/Liara isn't that surprising really and the rest are pretty standard (EDI/Joker, Garrus/Tali, Ken/Gabbie, etc).

I did cite the Commander Shepard song in a chapter.  Ashley, Shepard and Kaidan had a race and a dispute ensues over who actually won, to which Ashley replies, "Oh, of course!  You'll never be better than Commander Shepard, pfft!"

Edit:
I was pondering the different pairings and pondered Shepard/Ashley (despite alleged 'lore' to which I say, Ashley never said she wasn't gay/bi but anyway...).  Which made me think of my Rene character 'Vanity Shepard' (actually gay rather than 'asari-phile'), who met Verity Shepard in an AU crossover thingy, which in turn made me think, "What about Vanity's story...?"  Ugh, then I started penning out ideas and whatnot.  Too many projects, too little time...
