Oh yeah, that would inspire a rout, no doubt. Image IPB

I've no specific writing spots. It's just me, the computer and the chair. Image IPB

Could buy a squid and attach it to a string and a pole stuck in the ground behind you at just the right distance?

I don't have a writing spot, but I do have an inspiration spot. I live near a park with swings, so I go out when it's likely to be empty, crack some music through my headphones and swing until a story/chapter resolves itself in my head.

That'd probably be more impressive than my copy'n'paste effort there ha!

Oh, and, yea, I don't really have a writing spot.  I usually do it on the fly at my desk, and have ideas around bed time.

No... I don't write on a fly... :D

HA! That Is BRILLIANT!

Thanks for that, dude. It gave me a much-needed laugh. On the downside, i need a new keyboard now thanks to you. Oh, and a new house, now that a Reaper landed on top of it. Damn you, Harbinger!

So I have what may be an odd question: does anyone here know enough Latin to do a translation of a three word phrase from English?

I can give it a go. PM me with it and I'll see what I remember.

My Latin is a bit rusty but I can also try. PM me if you wish.

Wow. I wasn't actually expecting anyone to know Latin. So either a greater proportion of the population than I expected knows Latin, or fanfic writers are an abnormal sample of the population. Huh.

Thanks a million, I've PM'd you both.

I don't actually know Latin. I've studied it a bit in the high school because my class had medical direction. I wasn't very good at Latin but I had good marks for first aid. B)

Oh, damn. Missed the Latin opportunity. Got my GCSE then dropped out of A Levels lol.

Conjugate the verb!  Conjugate the verb!

I think a lot of writers have a place they go to write/think about their writing. Myself, it's more of a mental state than a location. I find I do my best work when I lock myself away in the workshop outside, fire up the old MP3 player, and line up a playlist of my favorite songs. Kicked out a staggering amount of text in a two-month period that way.

On the other hand, when I get stuck on something, I do find that a quick jaunt to the park with my daughter (or some Dance Central if she prefers) allows my brain to reset and reboot so I can get back at it. Family is a nice, calming influence for me.

Actually, inspiration hits if I'm thinking about writing while I'm cleaning.

Lots of potential where I am, too bad the weather only allows me to enjoy it 2 days a year... So unforunately, most of my creating is done in the shower. Or staring blankly at a screen.

Never took my own photos (hard to carry a camera when road biking), but this is a 15 mile cycle from my house.

This is just a 5 minute jog away.

Showers work well, too.

Came up with my urban fantasy novel idea there. After mopping my kitchen floor, oddly enough. LOL

Okay, I'll stop now. lol

Evidently, I'm having a bit of trouble finding my own inspiration for writing :P

:D at the Mako

Someone somewhere must have studied the shower ideas thing…my theory without any factual basis is that the water overloads your external senses to a degree that trying to take it all in lets the other parts of your brain escape their normal constraints free to explore ideas.

(Probably also helps that it’s typically a small enclosed space with very little external noise and very few visually interesting things.)

I'd feel bad for riding a Mako across that field :( Such a pretty area...all rolling hills and fields...
Even though Mako time is good time forever ^_^

Speaking of the Mako... I have a hard time making any segments which involve in seem even remotely interesting. Anyone have any insight to offer?
