Heh, I'm one of those people that rarely has anything ruined by spoilers.  For certain, I would PREFER not to know them.  However (esp in the case of reading the blurbs here) I am likely to forget the spoiler by the time I get around to consuming the content.

Of course, there are always outliers.  I'd have been perturbed if someone had spoiled "REVAN" for me in KOTOR.  On the other end, I can't imagine it would be possible to spoil "The Flood" in Halo 1, short of watching a YT video (explaining and experiencing are two separate things).

I am conscious however, having just noticed, that there are 36 users following this thread.  As the usual 'core' posters are us happy few and much fewer than the total, that means people who are popping in just for a gander might have tales spoilered.  So apologies if that is the case.  This thread is not intended for us to squirrel away our ideas or specifically discuss current works, so to the non-posting users I shall also say: Jump on in, the water's lovely!  :D

so.... I may not be around much for the next month or so. not that I've been around a lot over the past month, but still...

I am now officially the proud owner of Dragon Age: Inquisition for the Xbox One! *grins* the problem is that I don't actually get my Xbox One until Christmas. and I really, really want to avoid spoilers. *frowns* I've managed to remain amazingly spoiler free for this game so far. I don't even know all the companions or available LIs. I know four companions and only 2 LI characters. I don't know the specializations or much of anything about the gameplay. and I don't want to accidentally walk into spoilers (even minor ones) before I play the game, so I am more or less unplugging myself from the interenet altogether.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! and i'll probably at least pop back in to say happy holidays next month too. hope everyone has been good! *waves*

I assumed the lull in activity is probably due to DAI's release.  Not avoiding it per se myself, but I might delve in some time once it's cheaper and confirmed as not crap.  Is there equivalents of 'Origin' for DA for previous decisions and such like?

I understand where you all are coming from, lol!  Between Inquisition and school, I haven't been online much either.  As for choices, yes, you can customize even the minutiae in Dragon Age Keep, so it's the perfect way to create multiple world states going in.  As for spoilers, I have managed to stay away, so long as I don't google search anything about the game, lol!

Anyways, early Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  May your turkey day (and/or subsequent shopping) go well!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! *grins*

I know I said it before, but I had to say it again because I'm so happy! as of the end of classes today, I am done with school until December 1st! hallelujah! *grins* hope everyone is having a good week and everyone will have a great holiday! *waves*

With the coming holiday break I finally cracked down and posted my first installment!

What do you all think of datapad logs being used as journals of sorts? I already kicked off with two of them, one for Warcry and one for Lily, as a way to explain and develop the story without necessarily needing it to be mentioned in character to character dialogue.

Congrats!  Always been a fan of the style, very reminiscent of "Captain's log" in any number of stories, not least Star Trek: TNG.  Personally, I toyed with the idea of hiding author's notes and background info in "datalog/codex" entries at the end of my chapters, but I either forgot or didn't have the patience to implement them properly, lol!

Thanksgiving sounds very much like Christmas in the UK, as far as the dinner and activities go anyway.  Turkey and all the trimmings, naps on the couch, arguments from ten years ago that boil up for no apparent reason (alcohol...), TV specials, etc.  Hm.  How is Christmas different to Thanksgiving in the US, gifts and Jesus notwithstanding?  Assuming Jesus gets a look in... *shakes fist at Santa*

Gifts, Santa and Jesus. that's what makes Christmas different. *grins* plus a significantly longer break from school. *nod*

Thanksgiving is more about the cooperation between the Native Americans and the original pilgrims from Europe.  I find it ironic, tbh, considering what happened afterwards.  But then, the US just loves irony.  And hypocrisy.   -_-

Anyway, I finally finished playing DA:I after 80 hours of gameplay.   :D  So many twists and turns, and I was loving it the entire time!    So much stuff I wasn't expecting at all.  Also, so much elven lore.  Since I'm pro-Dalish and pro-elf, I definitely approve.   :D

Already started on my second playthrough.  Can't wait to see how people react to my douchey m!Qunari 2-hander warrior.   :P

Would the uninitiated still enjoy DAI, do you reckon, Gamer072196?

As a non-believer though, I do find it odd that the fairy tale of Santa was tagged onto Christmas, thereby undermining what is a legitimate festival.  I blame Coke.

Apparently, and I do find this odd/pointless, there's quite a few Brits that have started celebrating Thanksgiving over here.  It's Halloween all over again.  :D

This made me lol though.

Oh!  I forgot why I came here lol. Basically:

F*** yea...

Well new PSU should come tomorrow so I might have some time to give DA:I a stab (although looking at the PC feedback forum is making me somewhat apprehensive  :?)  which probably means I'll not get much done writing-wise (AGAIN  :pinched:)  which means the October update is going to end up appearing in December -- that's not too late, right?  Right?   :crying:

@MrStoob: Nice picture, but is it just me or does it look like it's the plod (NOT P**BS - I don't need that kind of trouble!) that are doing all the 'shopping'?   :D

If people who were completely new to TES enjoyed Skyrim, I think people who are completely new to DA would enjoy DA:I.  Though, granted, said people might just be interested in the MP element instead of the main story, but then, there are always people like that.

Actually, it was tagged on.  Christmas started out as a Pagan holiday which was highjacked by the Church and made into a Christian holiday.  The whole thing about Santa was added on a few hundred years afterwards and was based on the story of Saint Nicholas.  There's a documentary about the history of Christmas somewhere.  Try youtube.

Okay.

So I'm rewriting a crossover, Universal, renaming it Universal: Reignited Volume one.

The currently planned story takes place 2562, Halo. Spartan Lancelot and the UNSC Infinity barely make it off of a Flood infested Earth and get caught in a wormhole, which in turn takes them to ME's universe.

However, they're not the only ones.

After the battle, the Infinity returns to Earth and discovers that it too, has changed. After landing and joining Lelouch's Black Knights, the Minerva crashes and both the UNSC, Black Knights and Britannia race to claim it.

It turns out the Borg were hunting the ship for it's mobile suits and to assimilate the Coordinators.

http://gundam.wikia....ki/Coordinators

After rescuing Lunamaria Hawke from several Borg Drones, Lancelot learns that the cube us lingering nearby. As a response, Lancelot and the Infinity go into orbit and using the Impulse Gundam, Lancelot boards the cube and recovers the Strike Freedom and a couple Coordinators waiting to be processed.

Lancelot saves Lacus and Athrun and Kira and escorts them to the Strike and Infinite Justice Gundams. The Spartan then stays on board and makes his way to the Borg queen.

She and him engage in a long conversation and when they fight, Lancelot loses and is held captive. Lunamaria saves him and together they destroy the cube from the inside.

As all the forces regroup, Lancelot gains a Geass power.

Lancelot after helping settle the conflict on Earth heads to Auraxis and unites the warring factions.

He prepares the army to face down the Reaper threat...

Any suggestions on allies, foes, story, characters and Lancelot himself?

I already have several things planned out, but I want feed back before I undertake this. All of the above is subject to change.

Thanks for your time.

-MOG.

Sounds like an interesting crossover you have there!  In all honesty, I am devouring DA : I right now, so I was unable to give your post due diligence.  I can recall my own all encompassing anime fic, and would one day like to finish writing the story.  These sort of crossovers can be so fun to write!

I wish you all the best in crafting your story.  My only advice would be to start mixing enemies and motives across the different universes, in order to more easily tie in the various plots.  For myself, I basically had a ritual from one anime raise from torpor something from another anime.  It also helped that several of the characters were effectively immortal, and time travel/wormholes are a nice way of making things work, lol!

Now if I could only do the same for my ME3 multiverse fic...

Anyhoo, happy holidays everyone, back I go to Thedas!

EDIT: BTW, it was a x-over between Outlaw Star, 3x3 Eyes, Cowboy Bebop, and Trigun.  Sounds like an absurd mix, I know, but like to think I could have made it work.  Hell, I was toying with throwing all my favorite anime characters in there, but I had to draw the line at some point, haha!

Universal is pure hell at times.

The first attempt at crossover was Galaxy at war. That never worked out.

Universal made it longer, but in the end, was shut down.

Now Universal Reignited is the more well polished attempt. I hope it works out.

So. Hi there. I'm somewhat new here, as I have only now noticed the existence of this forum.

I'm currently writing a mass effect self insertion fiction with future Star wars and our reality crossovers. And I'm talking real painfull reality crushing crossovers. but I don't want to spoiler to much as I'm basically and completely egoistically looking to sate my need to have my work read and reviewed and all in all to please fans of the originals.

The plot is a rather huge one having started in a dumb joke between me and my friends and then transforming into one of those stories you just can't get out of your head until you write them down.  :pinched:

I'm also looking for a forum in which I can better react to reviews and critique and finally for a place where fanfiction in general has a forumy home. Much like fanfiction.net but with threads to talk in instead of the actual stories.

https://www.fanficti...ty-Merge-Book-1

here is the link. Do check it out and review, or answer me here, or both, or whatever you feel like, as long as you enjoy the ride :)

So long,

Ken Scades aka Phil Scades

You think that's painful?

I have at least ten to 20 other universes to add in Universal.

But hey, I feel the same way. Universal has been in the works for over a year and the first chapter is going to be rolled out next year.

No, the amount of cross overs isn't what makes it painful. :D

I meant it quite literally. think along the line of utter destruction as physics begin to break down and the reapers are only an unconveniance, if a deadly one.

Try adding.

-The Vex, a race of time traveling machines.

-The Borg, a race of cyborgs that assimilate people.

-The Flood, a parasite.

-Cybermen, a race of machines that assimilate people as well.

-The ELS, the worst of this list.

-Slight note, this list belongs to me and me alone. Find your own grave threats to the galaxy.

And so on and so forth. The Reapers are only a slight inconvenience.

Then you got the fanfiction critics that are worst than music critics, and not a lot of time between each Chapter.

I hear you man. as I said, I didn't mean to imply that my cross over is huge and chaotic or in any way complicated. What I said is that it is literally a natural phenomenon that, if not averted, is going to cause all realities in existence to collapse. In other words the realities themselve go unstable. Nothing else. You don't need to explain to me how much more complicated and painful your cross over is. No need to strike up a comparison, who's got the longest. :)

All I wanted was to say hi and maybe check the story out. nothing more.

The main reason I decided to write something of Universal's nature is because I wanted an epic story of multiple universes colliding.

As for the orginal Universal, it's been taken down due to several issues with it. Universal: Reignited is the new Universal and Chapter one will be rolled out sometime next month.

Reignited changes several characters, events and introduces several factions at different times. The main character also is being changed to be more interesting and better rounded. His reactions to the others are planned out rather than bluntly put in, which takes time.

As for it being hell to write, it's difficult at times because I don't know who I want to involve and how will I do it? Will I just bring Lunamaria Hawke and her Impulse Gundam or will I bring the entire crew of the Minerva or will I also include the PLANTs?

Do I want the Borg to attack the council or the UNSC?

Difficult questions that I must answer.

Few people do something in this nature, but I want to be one of the ones that not only does but succeeds. I also get kinda cranky during the writing process.
