I saw that one recently, it's a fun watch, though I only recognise a certain portion.

I'd say TIM would risk anything.  And everything.  Not sure I'm going to use this train of thought anyway, TBH - action isn't my forte.  The gist being, I thought it'd make for an interesting piece to chop between a fairly detailed account of Miranda fighting in London along side Alliance troops, and another tale I'd worked on previously where they (post war, current squad, blah) encounter a further Prothean beacon 'Sentinel'.  The convergence of the two time periods being that when Sentinel does his "Indoctrinated presence detected" routine, it comes into focus that Miranda murdered the squad she was with in London, under the influence of close proximity to Harby and chums.  More like the sleeper agent type indoctrinated - she did spend a lot of time with TIM.  It would've mainly be for the shock/left field value, I'll grant you, but I thought it'd be an interesting way to present it if nothing else - that both the reader and the Miranda realise at the same time, then what seemed like Miranda making some reparations with the Alliance via her support turns out to be more insidious.

Anyhoo... lol.

What I actually went with for the Sentinel scene (I discovered upon looking at older scribblings), was that Javik is actually the Prothean Emperor.  I presume I was going for the lols there...  Now I say that, I think I may have posted a snippet of that here many moons ago.

I didn't recognise the ships from EVE and Oblivion since I don't play the first and am not sure about the second. Halo is a game everyone knows. Babylon 5 is an old SF tv series (1990s), the first SF to have a planned out five year arc and to use CGI extensively in the fleet battles, portray actual space physics (for one man fighters),  the effects of a planetary bombardment (using mass drives, not lasers), etc, etc. I'd take their Starfury fighter over the X-Wing which flies like an aeroplane.

Interesing idea. Although if she killed the squad and then confessed and try to make amends, the Alliance isn't going to be that dumb to trust her that much even if they believe in her apology. No, they won't. If they're still that stupid about TIM and Reapers, then well, they deserved to get creamed.

    Ok, that's a first for me. Javik as the prothean emperor. Good one.

A 'lore' question, if I may?

Is there any reason why Miranda Lawson couldn't have been unknowingly indoctrinated?  She doesn't encounter any of the Prothean VI's so wouldn't have triggered "Indoctrinated presence detected" but are there any other reasons that would say, no she can't have been indoctrinated because X?

Picked up some of my old stuff, which wasn't too bad with a few tweaks, and I'm trying to get it moving again.

Honestly, there is very little reason to refute that ANY of the characters could have been Indoctrinated.  I think it's more a case of convenience, in regards to that sort of thing.  I always just used the idea that their containment suits and relatively low time of exposure kept them safe.  However, there's nothing to say that a chance occurrence couldn't have Indoctrinated them.

Best of luck on your project!

@ Obsidian Gryphon,

Looks cool!  Reminds me of this poster...which is constantly growing, lol!

Wow, how big is that map? :D

Btw, does any one know if Omega Control is at Afterlife or in a different location? I didn't buy Invasion so I don't know if it's mentioned in there.

Didn't get Invasion either but...  There's the craft and docking coordination, the limited general station security, Aria's personal guard, daily sundries, etc. and each may well have their own control/comms stations.  However, as Petrovsky also took it for his command centre, it may be logical to say that tertiary command is coordinated by Aria personally from Afterlife, thus a kind of Central Command.

Like I say, I'm only surmising here.  Nothing detailed in Redemption anyway - about the only expanded universe stuff I've read.

It's grown since last I saw it, lol!

From what I understood, Omega Control was closer to the core, as they had to go quite a ways to get to Afterlife.  I imagine Afterlife has a "portable" operations control system installed in it, for Aria's convenience.

Thanks Mr Stoob and Seracen, that helps. :D  I thought they were, just need to make a few changes here and there. I put them at the same district though.

One of those vague enough areas of the 'lore' that anything credible would suffice.  That said... and not to purposefully muddy the waters but now I've got the Omega station loading screen image in my head from ME2, and whether the schematics were actually pointing at anything.  To the Steam-copter!

Edit:  Ah.  It's not currently installed... (had to re-install OS recently).  CBA losing bandwidth right now, so one for a future date.   :)

In other news...

Cobbled together bits from bits for that Miranda tale (she's not intended to be the main feature of it, though she is the main original cast member), not with any intent to make it complete or anything, just that what I had was presentable as shorties.  Uploaded it with caveats in its relatively sketchy form, but Kudos went up a few afterwards, so there's that.  There's some nice moments I think, just a shame I couldn't have fit them into something more meaningful or expanded.  But I'm a lazy bugger.   :D

That said, I was prompted by that to re-examine another shorty I wasn't happy with at the time - I wasn't really sure where it was going so thought it better to let sleeping dogs lie for a bit rather than force it - Liara being interviewed when she's aged.  I did however ponder after the fact, how much do asari actually age?  It's implied in-game, not much, but there must be some slow down to some extent.  Anyway, obviously, I have a lot to say about Liara, and a lot for Liara to say - that's one area I find the muse rarely leaves me on.  I've more AU's than a chest of doubloons.  *bu-dum-tish*

On that note, I'll get my coat...

(still no nekomimi maid to help with the dusting?)

I well know the allure and shenanigans of revisiting old stuff, lol!  Have to tell myself to let it go, after a certain point.  To date, I have only reworked two such stories, one quite substantially, and one still in progress (the story that resulted in my paradigm shift in story approaches, ironically enough).

Ah man...I've been getting harangued by this one "fan" who keeps demanding I write certain stories that I've neither the time, nor inclination, to write.  I have to remind myself that it is a form of flattery and respect for my writing abilities, even if the manner of the request is...somewhat abrasive at times.  In all fairness, I really need to get back into the swing of things.  Real life has caused me to take a hiatus, but I've allowed myself to catch up on my backlog of shows and games, in between real life issues.

I suppose I really need to recharge my batteries, b/c I've got ideas, but no real need to get started on any of those projects.  It's starting to get close though, I can feel it whenever my creative juices start to flow.  I'd say I'm about 60-70% of the way there, lol!

Yea, sometimes the muse sits there saying, "Well?  Here I am.  What are you doing about it?" but even though she's present, there's some obstacle, whether real or perceived.

I sort of knew I had a spurt coming, hence why having a look over some previous scribblings.  I've had some head-wrecking mod work going on as well, which was highly productive, and there's a song challenge this month for the theme of 'Comedy' I'll be having a go at.  I think I try to do too much sometimes, spreading myself thin as it were, but I just have to 'create'.  Perhaps I should decide which would be most prudent/beneficial to concentrate on fully but I'm not sure I actually want to.  I enjoy the diverse 'scenes' too much.  That said, I'll usually have a down-turn after - feels like manic depression sometimes lol.  Or is it chicken and egg?   :o

:D

Edit:

Do we know how much nationality plays a part between Earthlings?  It's not really covered per se in gameplay, apart from maybe James' penchant to use Spanish occasionally but, might there still be some 'us and them'?  I ask as a couple of times I've used nationality for a gag or whatever but in hindsight, does that work in the MEU?  And would Shepard/Ashley actually be Canadian, or is that just command in Vancouver?  And when did Canada become a main seat of power anyway?  Does the lore even go back that far?  Okay, a few queries in there but you know what I mean.  :)

Anyway, gonna come back to this because there's one particular episode of Babylon 5 (I am a loose fan) that I've sort of tried to do a ME version of but never really got it right.  It basically follows two maintenance workers around their duties, and the day to day goings on.  At one point when a battle breaks out around the station, one even explains to the other why the ships have different colours 'blasters', and the ships explode in different colours too - to wit, different atmosphere gas mixtures on the different home worlds that form part of both propellent and life support.  I thought that last one was quite cute but no doubt come from a more literary source, as they usually do.

But yea, I did very much enjoy Babylon 5, particularly the mid to late stages when some very odd episodes from the early days suddenly come into clarity when you see the other side of the 'time rift' in the later episode.

What would shepards title be after she retired?
Ms Shepard or Mrs Vakarian doesn't sound right. Does anyone actually have an idea what the Turian equivalent of Mr Mrs would be?

Not sure there's anything to say either way on that.  To the general public, Commander Shepard will always be Commander Shepard - in private?  World's your oyster I'd say.  How do the turians view marriage?  Such things I'd usually use for a spot of light relief on cultural differences/similarities.

Ideas off the top of my head (I've started now...), turians don't have ceremonies and it's generally a private affiar, which disappoints Shepard as she wanted her day!  Or conversely, Garrus is dragged into a full on human wedding ceremony and hates every moment of it.  I'm aware you're asking about titles but you get the gist.

I did similar with Liara/Shep when they discussed marriage - Liara initially sees little point in a piece of paper confirming what they already know/feel.  Until Shepard mentions wedding dresses, music, food, flowers, and dancing.  Then Liara's suddenly on board.

Obviously, I don't know what context you're coming from but there's my 2 cents/tuppence worth.

Haha I was bored earlier after work so I started writing a story on my phone... and I have a question about cooldowns? x How do cooldowns work??? Do biotic amps get hot or something??? Haha its been 3 years since I've played these games and I had to Google most of it but I couldn't find an answer to that! xxx

It's a game mechanic really, which are always difficult to translate into relate-able narrative.  I personally try not to dwell on such things.  For biotics, I just treat it as 'it takes a bit out of them to perform a biotic task so they need a moment afterwards' - amps are another matter really as they're not required per se to perform biotics, they just ramp output.

Haha thanks. :) I guessed it would make them tired but I also wrote it that it would make the amp go hot just to make a cooldown literal ;) x

Ha!  The enigma bore out.

I'm being a nerd (geek?) about (my assumption) the forthcoming DHMIS.  That date is posted all around their works so I'm assuming the final episode will be 19 Jun, just a month away now.  Either that, or I'll be really disappointed...

:D

Good to know this group is still going... I've been really really bad updating my one and only ME fic but I am going to finish it and goddess help me I'm already laying the foundation for the bridge to ME Andromeda

I'm trying to do something different as well by adding music and art/screenshots but in the end I just have to keep sitting in front of the lap top and writing and hope I get some people back reading to give me feedback

Hey gang!  Jeebus, it's been a busy summer for me, lol!  Hope you all are doing well!

Personally, I'm still on hiatus in regards to writing, looks like the comic will be the only meaningful progress I can make in that regard.  Best of luck to everyone on their own projects!

Woohoo!  I completed my first ME3 fanfic earlier today (MShep/Kaidan).  33k words over 6 months.  I even got to write a little poetry in the last chapter -- that was fun.

I just finished the revision of my fic. Now thinking whether I should write another one. A short one.  :D
