Me?  Still fretting over mah mainly halted trilogy sequel...

Managed a few slice of life shorties in the meantime, more Liara-centric stuff with a cameo by Detective Anaya (another favourite asari of mine to write for).

19 June came, as did DHMIS 6.  Wasn't quite the shocker I was hoping for TBH, and there's still debate over what it all meant...

Edit:  oh, top post eh?  No official rule obv, but here's an idea I'll never use lol.  Problems obviously arise in that without the beacon's knowledge and thus the cipher, how would we fair?

***

"With the community still reeling from the freak accident that killed Commander Shepard at Eden Prime, the details of which have yet to be confirmed, a new figure emerges to represent humanity.  Gunnery Chief Williams, dubbed the Hero of Eden Prime, and sole survivor of her squad, has already been nominated for the N7 programme in an unprecedented move by the Earth Systems Alliance."

I'm new to the fanfic writer's support group and I had a question. Perhaps I am being naive but is there a chance BioWare would somehow canonize a short novel written by someone who has yet to publish any known work?

TBH, there's little chance of any FF becoming canon unless officially published by BioWare themselves - I don't think that this has happened as yet though.  In all honesty, there would be swathes of fans who wouldn't accept it as canon anyway if it didn't fit their notions of the MEU.

That said, and as I've never posed the question directly to BW, I can only suggest that contact them and ask for an official response.  I've contact BW before to make sure my twitter feed thing I was using to promote a works wasn't crossing any boundaries in terms of product ownership (they said as long as I don't try to make out that I'm from BW/EA, then there's no problem).

I have tried contacting them regarding a project I'm working on but no response as of yet. Who did you contact?

At the time, it was direct to Chris Priestly when the BW staff themselves were a bit more active around here and we were able to contact them via pms.

Other than the potential abyss of general 'Contact Us' or marketing depts, you could try poking them on something like Twitter?

Oh hey, a friend pointed me at writingandromance.wordpress.com the other day, and so far I'm finding it quite useful in writing my next fic.  Especially the Structure Unit; I find I'm pretty good at getting into the heads of the characters, but iffy at plotting and pacing.

I was going to do a piece about the asari finally deciding to leave the Council - Liara in the remain camp, Aria in the leave - but it's all too depressing.  Stupid countrymen...

Plonked out a sequel which I planned to be very short. Wandered over to MEA forum. Came across thread about 4 novels before the next game. Supposed to be resolutions, foreshadowing or something. AU for me because I shifted with the "ME universe" I created. What they're talking about is disconnected with Shep's universe. My reaction to any future news about resolution of the trilogy is likely ; um, yeah, it's their pie, not mine. Nothing to do with me. I already went into hyperspace.  :D

IIRC, Didn't Mac Walters come into the fold by submitting a story to BW (I think Gaider or Karpyshn at the time)?  At any rate, cracking into the business in this way is difficult, from what I've read, especially without references and a portfolio.

This is why the modding scene became such a godsend to certain people, and also why it's become a battleground in certain cases.  At any rate, I've been involved in creating a story and quest mod for the Elder Scrolls games (mostly QC and bug testing, although I also did a bit of story work for now-defunct projects).  I also tried my hand at some cosmetic stuff, but it was built off other people's works (and I had those people distro the mod of their mod, as it was only fair).

However, a few people have parleyed truly amazing mods into job opportunities (like Falskaar's creator).  Moreover, the Nehrim crew always make amazing total conversion mods for the ES games, and I would love to see someone tackle a similar production in the realm of sci-fi!  For myself, I've toyed around with using the Shadowrun Toolkit, and was considering using it to tell some Mass Effect stories...but alas, that requires more patience and time than I can afford to give right now.

Oh, and hello again!  I know, I've been lurking forever, lol!
