Finished my Jack/Miranda one-shot. Would very much appreciate it if you guys could take a look. :)

I like it! A good little snippet between the two of them, and I don't think you went overboard with the connection between them like so many people seem set on. Instead, Jack is Jack and Miranda is Miranda. i also really like the bit where Jack's playing around a bit. That's how I picture jack- playful, cheeky, a little bit incendiary.

All in all, a very good job.

The squad looked about anxiously as a loud rumbling greeted their ears. At first, Shepard thought it was coming from the device, but then he became aware that it was actually coming from far underfoot, travelling up the length of the Draktarra citadel. A knot growing in his gut, Shepard hurried to the edge of the floor, glancing over and downwards.
On the ground, far below, the Commander could see the two armies now moving a lot more hesitantly as the soil beneath their feet trembled, in the throes of a terrible earthquake. Even the mighty fortress swayed as the rock of its foundations shook. Shepard gasped as what was happening became apparent.
"Vandak, you can't!" He yelled, wheeling to face the Krogan. "You can't!"
Screeching like monsters from the depths of hell, a dozen monstrous beasts erupted from the ground, rearing up hundreds of feet into the air as they loomed over the two armies. Mandibles stretched out menacingly from gaping mouths, while hideously long tongues lashed about like tentacles, testing the air in a manner that allowed them to 'see' much better than the blue sensory organs above their mouths that served as their eyes.
In the middle of this swarm of beasts loomed a truly hideous specimen, easily five times the size of its peers. The grotesque body was a slimy cylinder as least a hundred feet thick, if not more. When it opened its mouth to scream out with its hungry roar, it revealed an opening that could have easily swallowed the prow of the Normandy, if not the whole ship. The eyes, bigger and more defined than those on its cousins, gleamed with an intelligence that was, frankly, unsettling. As it looked about, Shepard could have sworn that, for a brief moment, it focused on the peak of the citadel, glaring at him. As it turned away, he caught sight of a massive metal plate in the back of what counted for its head, gleaming with the same grey-blue as the Reaper relic. Upon noticing this, he realised that every last one of the creatures had the same thing installed.
"Jalmund save us." Jorall breathed. The dread in his voice was contagious.
"What is that thing?" Delexia asked with fear.
"The All-Thresher." There was also a hint of reverence in how Jorall explained this. "The ancestor of all Thresher Maws, living in the very core of the planet. I thought it was just a myth."

Thank you very much!

Truth be told, I was probably more worried about the general writing. Hopefully that's OK then.

Not that I wasn't concerned about the characterisation, but I think you can play a little looser with that in comedic stuff.

As much as I don't like Mass Effect 3 in many ways (Dianna Allers, Cerberus Arc, Kai Leng, Thane's Death, Liara being forced at you every other hour of gameplay), Its...passable for me. I can live with it. It certianly isn't the giant blow out it needed, but there are a lot of places that did have me crying manly tears, like Mordin's passing and Rannoch. So, Its passable for me.

I agree, in part. It's... passable. I'd call it a fairly average game. Problem is, this was freakin' Bioware with their flagship creation, freakin' Mass Effect. It should be so good that nerds like you and I will be grinding it up, melting it down and injecting it into the crevices between our toes for years to come. That's part of why I continue writing, now. I can't rest easy until the franchise has an ending that the game series, the fans, and even Bioware deserves. that's why i do things like the 6 possible ending battles (Omega, The Collector Base, Citadel, Earth *SPOILERS* and *SPOILERS*) my fic will have, or the further four possible outcomes for each battle, or the 23 equally killable squadmates (depending on reader choice), or the 19 organisations who may or may not have a future when the credits roll on this thing, all of which adds to the overall ending score that decides how successful Shepard is (all the way from utter failure to Disney ending). I have a story planned out, but I have no idea what version of it I'll end up writing.

And to pique my curiosity, over whether someone has ever made a Blasto and Aethyta fic (or Blasto and Anyone fic....sadly, there are none)

Oh my God, you never fail to make me giggle, m'dear. Thank heavens the other half is in the shower, or else I'd be getting weird looks.
And just for you I might attempt one... maybe after an especially harrowing one-shot / NoV chapter ;)

Hm, wait, Blasto, or the actor who plays Blasto?

…Or…Last Action Hero cross-over?

Definitely Blasto. Last Action Hero plotline would be a neat idea, for sure. :o There are so many possibilties with Blasto, the only limit is yourself.

Just, after the Mass Effect 2 and 3 audio clips of Blasto movies, I can't shake the urge to write or read more Blasto-related things. I would pay Bioware cash money for Blasto-related DLC

Edit: made a bunch of spelling mistakes in my excitement over Blasto story ideas

You know what I'd love. A continuation of the Blasto films with Aethyta in a starring romance role. Sounds like an excellent crackfic idea.

I don't think I'll finish Chapter 46 tonight. Still got a little ways to go and I'm exhausted.Posted Image

Curse this frail organic body! If only I had some way to upgrade myself beyond the need for sleep, like a robot. a sort of fusion of machine and flesh, if you like. A synthes- NONONONONONONO! *Beats self over the head with a golf club until common sense returns*

That way lies madness....

Meh. Go for the low-hanging fruit. It always seems to work for me when I'm trying to work references into my fic. I mean, hell, there's a Doctor Who one in the snippet I posted above about the All-Thresher.

Still looking for feedback on Echoes, by the way. If any of y'all have a chance this fine eve, it'd be much appreciated if y'all could stop on by and let me know what y'all think about it.

Y'all.

YES
OMG Blasto could be the father of Aethyta's half hanar daughter! It could be this weird, alternate dimension travelling crackfic that's the best thing of all time as the two go on awesome adventures with Elcor sidekicks and Vorcha enemies and all those wonderful things. <3

Finally finished Chapter 5 of Returned! Took me, what, 2 months? I'm hoping the rest of my summer will be as light as what I'm getting now so I can get the rest of the story out the door.

Signed up for the Mass Effect Big Bang over on LJ. I haven't the foggiest idea what to write, as all my ideas are either short one-shots or 40k+ stories that I have no hope of completing in the allotted time frame!

Ahh Blasto... and all of the Lethal Weapon references. I actually considered including a hanar in a story. I think they'd be fun to write. But for the life of me, I couldn't figure out how they would get around. In the game it always looks like they're just floating in place. Do they stand on those tentacles? Float around using Mass Effect fields? What?

It would be an awful lot of fun to put Blasto, Mordin and Legion into a fic together. Three unique and abnormal methods of speech... It would be so much fun to write. I already giggle like a madman when I write for my salarian character, and nothing he has said has been even remotely funny. I can just hear the rapid speech in my head while I write it.

I could swear that it’s mentioned Somewhere Official™ that they do use some kind of ME fields to keep themselves afloat (and inside an atmosphere, or something).

Question regarding my fic. Where would you teach someone to shoot? I can't imagine a firing range on the Normandy unless it's a holograph interface, but I can't imagine how useful a HI would be regarding weapon recoil.... I sort of wrote myself in a hole there. I guess the Normandy will have to dock at the Citadel for a bit to teach Liara how to fire a gun properly....

Citadel would work. I think they could rickshaw something together on the Normandy, but it could require a lot of effort.

Totally possible though.  Take her to the hangar, where the Mako/Hammerhead/shuttles are kept.  Then, reinforce a bulkhead with a large block of metal plating you scrounge from anywhere (junk yard on Omega, derelict spaceship, etc).  If you REALLY need reinforcement, for power weapons like a Prothean Beam or Revenant, hook up a very light mass effect field generator to absorb some of the impact before it hits the block.

Also, let's consider how often Liara is shooting by ME3, I'm sure that she picked something up being the Shadow Broker.  Moreover, the HI would still be useful for aiming practice, then use the live fire to help for recoil compensation.

Question: If an earthquake around 8.9 on the Richter scale hit a major port city that destroyed some of its oldest hospitals, its main bridges, its airport center, downtown, as many schools around it, do you think it would be feasible that within 30 years, it could repair itself to its former/better condition? Especially if this earthquake happened in say...2154?

Even now that's possible, but lets all just see how long it takes Japan to completely recover. In the future you think it would take even less time. I imagine they would work on major centres first.

I know now that they can build a community pretty damn quickly, they've been doing these new community things for years. If your trying to base a story on it then like I said Japan would be the best reference.
