Lykke Li - Get Some
Health - Tears (the Max Payne 3 theme)
BRMC - Beat the Devil's Tattoo
My hands down favorite band right now
The Bellrays - Zero PM
Not sure if they're what you're looking for. I'm mostly a hip hop head anyways.

maybe someone suggest something more modern. its kinda sad when the only song i know is katy perry's fireworks and pony music videos.
In Flames is still making music, the song I posted from them was recorded last year.

As in never been done before?? Or does it have to be popular?
And if you haven't heard some specific genre before (I bet you haven't heard Zeuhl from the 70's, for example), that will be new to you. Or do you want to be acquainted with most "fresh" "widely-accepted" music to understand what's "today's music"?
Well, that's an empty set. Non-existent.
We live in post post-modernism where the new stuff is in memes and such.
There is no music nowadays that's "widely accepted". At best (not "quality"-wise
(if you want something like Katy Perry, just turn on the radio - if you want something specific, ask here)
Does any suggestion in this thread answer your question however remotely?

"Tragedy's A'Comin'" - Primus.
"The Last Salmon Man" - Primus.
"Terra Firma" - Buckethead & Travis Dickerson.
"Shatter Shell" - Buckethead.
All these songs have been released within the last two years. With a pinch of rock.

Also, if you do not find this song catchy, there is something wrong with you.

Garbage just released a new album.
Bought the deluxe version, listened to it and it was okay.
I guess it's just too difficult to make another album as epic as Version 2.0.
