Like I said, the game crashes intermittently in Denerim. Doesn't seem linked to a particular place in Denerim, though I have yet to venture out of the merchant district. If I attempt to load the last save game in said city, the game CTDs, requiring me to backtrack to an earlier save and re-enter the city.
I was suffering from CTDs pre-1.02 if I tried to play the game with sound, but the patch appeared to resolve the issue. Disabling sound now has no effect.

Try lowering all graphical settings to minimum, including disabling the frame buffer effects (or whatever they are called, the check box under the graphic quality sliders).
This isn't a "fix" but it is a workaround, if it works for you, until they start patching things like this. Note I am assuming the crash you are talking about is the one where it drops you to the desktop, sometimes with, and sometimes without an error message indicating there was a problem in module daorigins.exe.
I get the exact same thing, in Denerim, Lothering, Ostagar, the town square of Redcliffe, etc. Sometimes it seems to be specific to a part of the area. I.e. in the Denerim Market, if I walk up to or move the camera to look directly at the little tent in the center of the area with the merchants, it will crash 99% of the time.
Note: if this works, it should let you load the saves that keep crashing on-load now. You also might need to get into the habit of lowering all settings when you enter these areas. Not fun, but thats what we got until they drop 1.03.

I am having a lot of problems with Denerim too, although it is just when I zone between certain areas. It crashes to desktop and gives me this error:

When I am trying to zone back to the market district. I can get to the map screen then the blood trail starts moving towards the market district an boom, crash. Tried lowering gfx settings, turning off Catalyst AI, limiting what cores the game runs on, but getting very angry now as cannot progress in Denerim any more. Any ideas how to sort this?

The only other suggestion I have heard is to try underclocking your video card by about 50-100mhz, gpu and ram. Otherwise you just listed basically all the "crash fixes" that currently exist, short of underclocking your card.
I am very familiar with that crash, unfortunately I got nothin else for ya. For me, lowering all graphics to minimum and disabling post processing or frame buffer effects or whatever it is called, makes the crashes not happen. It's to the point now where I am on my second playthrough, and I just reflexively lower all the settings when I go to certain areas, and raise them again when I leave.
Can't wait for the actual fix patch.

Yeah, I had problems in Lothering and Redcliffe as well.
I disabled frame buffering, anti-aliasing, and lowered all graphical settings. It let me reload and I have continued playing. I have even restored most of the graphic options, save for frame buffering and I've kept the a.a. at a low setting. It ran smoothly for about 1 1/2 hours.
Is this a symptom of the memory leak I've been hearing so much about?
Thank you and looking forward to the next patch!

Thanks for the responses
Don't think it's due to this memory leak thing as I get it if I have just turned on my pc or been playing for a few hours. Denerim Market is the problem I believe, doesn't happen anywhere else now! Strange as it let me in fine first visit, now I can't return, even if I leave Denerim totally and try to come back in! Kinda sucks as still on my first run through and this is one of the last things I have to do I think
