I'm thinking about taking my original DA2 team through MoTA, as I finished that run before the DLC came out. However, before I try it, I have some questions.

I'm sort of presuming that if you play this DLC post-game, it assumes you're playing it during Act 3, before the endgame happens and everyone goes on the run (in my story, anyway). If that's the case, do all the decisions you made during the endgame affect what you get in the DLC? If you killed Fenris during the endgame is he retroactively "dead" and unavailable as a companion in the DLC even though the end "hasn't happened yet", or does it not work this way? In my case, I was romancing Anders until the Chantry explosion, at which point my Hawke not only dumped him but told him to leave the party. So I'm wondering if I'll have access to my healer/LI in the DLC post-game?

Is that a "No, the decisions you make during the endgame don't affect what you get in DLC" or a "No, you don't have access to your healer?"

DLC accessed from the post-campaign save happens before the Act 3 end-battle events (which start when you go to the Gallows to meet Meredith & Orsino). So you should have access to any companions that were available prior to that point in Act 3.

Actually, for me it appeared to take those things into account despite officially taking place before The Last Straw. When I loaded up a post-game save to play Legacy, I did not have Anders available in my party roster (I had sent him away at the Gallows). I don't remember if this was the case specifically for Mark of the Assassin, but it definitely was for Legacy.

I haven't tested it with other characters, i.e. with games where I killed Fenris or Merrill at the end.

Yes.

Well played! :P

Seriously though, thanks for the responses, guys. Guess I'll just dive in at some point and see what happens :)

Yes, this was the case for me as well with Legacy.

I'm not sure about Mark of the Assassin, but I know that Legacy takes into account some of the end game decisions (i.e., who is available, if you romanced them or broke it off at the end, etc.).

I had all characters become available, when Bethany/Carver were in the circle/Grey wardens i believe when they die in the deeproads they aren't available. I even tested it to see if i could choose Isabela after Act2 (before talking regret quest) and there she was. This was for Legacy though.
(If you didn't notice Carver/Bethany being available in your party when selecting he/she will show up at the beginning saying 'the circle/grey wardens' let me go to blabla...)

MotA i believe only shows available characters.
