I counted a bit over 200 on 3 pages here. With 13 pages of posts, that is at least 1200. I think the 50,000 has already been met.
But...there are a lot ofplayers who have no idea this challenge is even on for the weekend. Last night there were 3-4 players who were startled by the appearance of Banshees with Geth and Cerberus.

1. Anyone already playing the game prior to the launch would not have seen that message unless they exited out and went back into the game
2. Anyone not paying attention to what they're doing or are impatient might be button mashing trying to hurry through menus and might have skipped it without realizing
3. People didn't bother to read the description of the event, or did read it and somehow misunderstood
Only ways I can think of to not know what's going on, excepting PlayStation of course, I heard they still aren't getting those screens for the events.
I almost envy their confusion, I would love to have not known in advance and be one of those dumfounded people surprised by those Banshees. Being warned just ruins it. I'd have probably thought it a glitch but I'd have kept playing, they'd have to do more than throw a few unexpected banshees my way to get me to rage quit.

Just this second got my kroguard to 20 and promoted, that's 5 now. Dont think i'll manage the adepts with little time I have left though as they are only level 6 right now.
