AI thing was executed awfully Why have all that siccess on rannoch and then throw it all away as part of the "problem".

Seems silly.

Looking back on Mass Effect as a whole I think it really shows how different people wrote different parts. Individual sections, characters, and sub-plots were often very well written but the overall plot has been pretty poor right from the start. We just overlooked it because the details were usually great.

"Speculations for everyone" should not be the result of the most important decision in the game.

What the Reapers did in Dark Space between cycles? Speculation is fine.

Could Liara get pregnant with her "embrace eternity" events with Shepard? Speculation is fine.

At the very last of the series, we decide the fate of the entire galaxy and don't know what happened from our final choice. That's harsh.

This quote pretty much nails how I feel about the end of the game :

"I personally prefer the hanging questions," says Green. "Life doesn't end with a medal ceremony or dancing Ewoks, and even when it does, somebody's still going to have to clear up all those discarded streamers the following morning. But there needs to be some form of emotional pay-off for all those people who stuck with the over-arching story from day one. When it comes to a huge game like Mass Effect 3, to have an ending which negates any of the travails of the player is a mean-spirited and lazy thing to do."

They hit just about all the major points. Open-ended endings are good for stories because they let the reader's imagination fill in the blanks. Video games are different, especially if they claim to give players control over the way the story develops. They have to provide some kind of pay off. The Rannoch and Tuchanka mission do this incredibly well, but the ending fails completely.

Very good article indeed, I liked.

I dont hate the end, but I think that the writting team was not fully happy with it either, if they did know how to finished they would polished it. It seem that they made a lot of endings try to find a good one and in the end choose the most popular on the office and no time to make it look decent and meaningfull, seems so forced and out of place.

But anyways I would buy it again and not even mad that Bioware, just a bit sad that people have to come up with theory to explain an ending for a series, its not right.

I might be able to take that. 

But I can't, because the ideas are even worse than the execution.

Gotta agree.  They are no more legit than the "actual writers" on the Bioware team. In fact, I would say less legit because they have no experience writing multiple paths and endings.

Someone above mentioned that the story in mass effect was disjointed because it was written by several writers.  While I wouldn't deny that that is partially true, I would also say it is part of the nature of the beast for video games.  But I think a game like Dragon Age Origins was more affected by this problem.  It seemed to have completely separate adventures that were done by separate  teams and then stitched together.  I thought the ME team did a fairly good job of bring all the pieces together into a whole.  They hid the seams better.  And honestly, after ME2 I was wondering how they were going to work the giant robot of death into their story.  It was the one part of the series that I cringed at.  But they actually managed to add some legitimacy to the robot in the end.  ME2 didn't rub me the wrong way as much after they revealed and concluded the reason for melting people down as preserving the last species generation.

There were zero moments in ME3 that were cheesier than the "Human Reaper" reveal in ME2. That moment really knocked the game down a bit, IMO -- especially since BW didn't do an adequate job of explaining why they were creating a Human Reaper in the first place (i.e. to take over Sovereign's role in activating the Citadel relay to usher in the Reaper invasion).

You wanted an explanation why a sentient race thought it would be a good idea to reproduce?

Reproduction has nothing to do with why they were creating the Human Reaper.  The Human Reaper was being created for a very specific purpose.  You can tell this when Harbinger tells the Prothean after you destroy the Human Reaper at the end that "You have failed.  We will find another way."   He means they will find another way to start the invasion, as opposed to going straight for the center of galatic civilization (i.e. the Citadel) to cut off all planetary communications, like they did in the Prothean phase.  This is why in ME3 the Reapers begin the invasion from the outer rim of the Milky Way and work their way inward.

Anyway, I am getting off my original point, which was that the "Human Reaper" idea was really corny, IMO, and didn't exactly pan out with the lore.  For example, if new Reapers take on the physical characteristics of the species that they were created from, then why do all the Reapers look the same -- like a squid?

Where did you hear that? They've been mostly silent, we don't know what they are up to.

Ray Muzyka. He cited artistic integrity and said that they would not change the ending. Only clarify it.
