For me FBWGG was a great way to get into gold matches without being yelled at for being crap and ruining it for the active team.
It sucks being called a "stupid ****ing noob" just as it sucks playing with a working team and some poor sob who doesn't have a clue joins and messes up bad.

I'm all for the training wheels.

Be a leecher you mean?  There's no other way to do nothing and get credits in this game.  FBWGG farmers work for their keep just as much as you do for your 75k credits.  And that simple fact burns you, doesn't it?

While I agree there are things you can learn from FBWGG, the bolded part is simply ridiculous. Unless you're farmin' on Glacier there's no way you'll have just as much trouble to clear the match than a random/random.

Edit - Freaking commas.

I agree with OP. I have played some truly terrible FBWGG matches cause some people think its so easy from reading some of these threads... When two or even three people are off doing their own thing and not working as a team, things can get out of hand real quick.

When done right, I have had FBWGG matches in under 23 min where the team owned the mission.

Know what's better and more fun than FBWGG? FBWGR with 2 Justicars and 2 Human Vanguards.

Have fun with that setup!

I'll quote the almighty Ankarah

"1. what do you care if someone else loses his/her skills or not? it's none of your business
 2. host your own games
 3. that is the price you pay for going after specific game types that are not as popular,

you want other people to like what you like so you can do what you want when you want with minimal hassles?
and it suddenly becomes a 'cancerous behavior' to the society if other people are doing what they want instead of what you  want?
who are you to say random/random is the only true type of gold games that bioware intended us to play?

you are either too immature or ignorant,
 possibly both.

in my opinion the only cancer is people like you."

and IAMREALITY

"I'll give you the answer that probably has never been said but that is probably accurate in the majority of cases.

They hate it because it makes them feel less special.

Fact is, most of the elite snobs have learned exactly which classes, powers, tactics etc to apply to whatever given gold  game to the point that they actually complete the random game just as quickly if not more so than FBWGG  and it's every bit  as easy. I mean yeah, takes such skill to spam biotics and let things walk into bubbles LOL.

The point is, these hypocrites find ways, and then share them all with each other, to make  gold runs as quick and easy as  possible. They farm in their own way every bit as much and once they know the right strategy, characters  and builds, have  gold games every bit as easy.

So know why they hate FBWGG? BECAUSE IT'S A STRATEGY THAT CAN BE TAUGHT TO NEWER PLAYERS.

That's why. Because even a noobie can be taught almost immediately what the strategy is for beating FBWGG. You don't  have to read message boards and learn all these complex things in order to beat it. They don't hate it  because it's easy,  since their games are just as easy, they just hate it because you don't have to be elite to learn it. You don't have to be part  of some super secret club that knows all the tricks in order to learn it. They hate it  because it enables newer players to make  money just as quickly as they do, and they hate that. They have this  undying need to feel special, to feel superior. They  hate FBWGG because it means that just any regular joe can incorporate the SAME tactics they do, but without the steeper  learning cuve."

WoW has been qq for 7 years now, first the scripubs called it too hard (naxx 60 which wasnt that hard but still) and after TBC it became easy as hell and now the elitists and even the mediocre players complain its too easy which it is, deathwing HC (both spine and madness) are a complete joke. :/

Anyway you dont learn anything from fbw except to know how easy it is to take profit from a not ao intelligent AI.

It wouldn't be that much of an issue if these people kept playing silver etc. But they spoil random/random/gold lobbies and they find out that reapers on condor isnt sit behind a bench and get 75k credits.

Agree with OP.

FBWGG is a great way to cut your teeth on gold. It teaches you respect for gold health n damage. You stick your head up long enough and act like it's silver it's going to get blown off. It also shows you if your build is potentially viable on gold. If you're way down on the points total it lets you know you're not pumping out enough damage to play on gold. Try another loadout/class.

Most of the time you do sit behind the counters but hack objectives are still there frequently and that's just as hard as a geth hack on any other map.

Last but not least it does keep people just testing the gold waters out of normal random/random lobbies. Everyone is much better off this way.

Are you saying that people LEARN stuff from White/Geth/Gold?.....

Here is my reaction...

They learn how to play like CoD.

Really useful in other non White/Geth matches right?!?

It helps your team get the 15 revive medal.

People do not LEARN anything from those matches, they just LEARN that they are going to be getting 75k by slacking off and doing hardly anything. Hence the 70,000 combined scores that the other 3 guys always have when I get that map.

I have friends who learned the basics of gold from FBWGG. So it's clearly a viable entry-level scenario.
Anyway, since you're one of the more rabid tryhards here, I figured I should give you something that you can keep yourself busy with.

Sorry, didn't read your post yet..... still looking......

Okay!

Sure they might learn that enemies come from in front of them when they sit at the back of the map, and that powers do damage to people... but they would learn that stuff much fatser if they actually had a chance of failing other than the off chance a Hunter gets behind the table or you get a bad hack wave.

They still learn. How fast is none of our business.

People forget that the vast majority of this game are barely silver qualified.

FBW/G/G does well in teaching these people how to play.

Having played FBW/G/G numerous of times, I can safely say that a LOT of those would've ended in failures if I hadn't been there to carry the team.

You make a couple decent points but personally I think that Cerberus/Gold/FirebaseWhite makes a much better set up to learn how to play gold. The grenades, smoke, and phantoms discourage simply camping behind a desk and spamming powers (to an extent) and emphasizes team play and roles a bit more such as working effectively to bring down a horde of phantoms. Ultimately though, the sooner you learn to cover flanks/create escape routes/be mobile on gold instead of camping the better you'll become as a player. Unfortunately camping at the bottom of FBW does not enforce these skills. Reapers/Gold/FirebaseGiant is probably the best in that regard.

My main issue with the popularity of Geth/Gold/FirebaseWhite is that it pops up 9/10 times I look for a lobby and no one joins the lobbies I host :( Private matches somewhat make up for it but I've met some players who refuse to face any enemy besides geth. But thats me, if you enjoy it then by all means.
