I might quickly just break down your points.
- Understanding of spawn points and knowing where your enemies will spawn/come from you at
No. WGG specifically focuses on letting the enemies spawn on the other side of the map and slowly come to you down very specific paths. The same places every time. You are not learning. On all other maps you need to think "if we are here, where are they going to spawn? ok so we need to go [here] to flank them or [here] to be in a good position." You don't adapt to spawns on WGG. They are the same everytime.
- How to grab kill and use cover effectively
You don't need to 'learn' this. If you can't press O to grab or know how to take cover then....wow.
- Value of an Infiltrator
Infiltrators aren't even in their zone in WGG. They can be much more effective on other maps. A lot of farming maps don't use one.
- Clearing hack zones and moving to hack zones
I have seen many teams getting wiped doing this. Hilarious because I get thrown into the match in progress so I just leave again. Hack zones vs Geth are ridiculously easy because they have no major threats. Pyros are too slow to get close, Hunters can be annoying. But WGG doesn't teach you how to hack vs Reapers when you have Brutes, Banshees and Ravagers on you. That is when you need to learn how to missile.
- Two manning disable objectives
Uh no. Having someone come with you just draws aggro to the hack. White is small enough that one person can do it while the other 3 stay put and draw all fire. If the hacker can't do it without dying then use medigel. On other maps you won't have the luxury of being able to control the spawns to make the hacks easy. You will have to think on the go.
- Weapon choices and mechanics.
Again no. WGG doesn't teach you anything about weapons. Your examples involve equipment. You don't need that on Gold. And the GPS? one of the best guns in the game, you could put it on any class and score well. WGG involves 1 enemy type. Different weapons are good vs different factions. You learn none of this by playing just Geth.
- Value of Tech Bursts/Biotic Explosions
It might teach you how they work but not how and when to use them. Other than Glacier you aren't going to get all the enemies bunching up nicely waiting for you to detonate them. Being good with detonations involves being able to set then off when you are in a tight spot (i.e Hack vs Reapers, over run by Phantoms) or in broken play when you and the enemies are spread out.
- Bubble placement
Again it teaces you one spot. It doesn't teach you how to use the offensive bubble on open maps like Condor, Hydra or even mid maps like Ghost. It is very useful to predict enemy spawns and place a bubble where they might come from. WGG is the same 2 spots over and over because you know 100% of the time where the enemies will come from. Again - you are not learning. I'm still getting better with the bubble - I can score 80-90k on normal maps, 130-140k on White. Does that mean I'm now good because I scored 140k? No, because I know exactly where to put the bubble every. single. time.
- Crowd control
WGG is all crowd control. But it is through dumb AI and spawns, not skill. Actual crowd control is when you are getting attacked from multiple points and you need to lock one side down. The ability to control a group of Phantoms coming from your flank is the type of skill you need, not relying on the AI not to use the back door.
- Teamwork
This is fairly limited. You don't have to do anything other than have 4 people in the building causing some form of damage. The only real team work comes in when you have a hack on the LZ and need to coordinate. Other than that you don't need team synergy. It helps but you don't need it in farming.
So yeah, a lot of your points only teach lessons
relevant to WGG. This is not useful for any other Gold, which I assume is what you trying to argue these lessons were good for.
Gold is not that hard. People need to get out of their comfort zones and play other maps and enemies. It won't be some Wave 2 wipe "OMG so hard!" but the rounds after 7 might be difficult when you don't have the skills to adapt to whatever comes your way.
