It is clearly stated on the back of the game box, system requirements : Internet connection is required to play. (Does not say for activation/authentication only, like other games). If you do not have a permanent internet connection, then why did you buy the game?
Because the devs said it more than once, that you will only need internet to activate the product. It was stated a lot of times in the origin threads.

You can run origin in offline mode I belive, although you might not be able to use the DLCs.
Offline mode is not the same as no internet according to EA. Offline mode to EA still means "As long as we can connect to the internet when you boot up."

Exactly;. "You will only need the internet to activate this product. To play single player internet is not required after the first activation." which is a complete line of bullsh*t.

If you're not connected to the internet the game will not attempt authentication if you already did it at least once. Running Origin in offline mode is not enough. Unplug your internet or temporarily disable your internet devices. I did this a couple of times before and it always works.
That doesn't work, all it does it tell me it can't connect to EA try again later, and that it can't authenticate my DLCs which means I can't load any of my saves.

That's what I suggested and apparently it doesn't work. Works for me though.djharris10 wrote...
What you do is force origin into offline mode, when your internet is disabled, take out the cable, and disable all of your adapters, it won't even check for DLC authorizations at that point, I hope I helped, because I had the same issue

I can fully vouch for this. When my computer is completely disconnected (cable unplugged) then Origin opens in offline mode and allows me to play ME3. The authentication is skipped (auth message briefly appears and then disappears in about a second) and I can resume my game, even though I have From Ashes and the N7 collectors' edition weapons pack.
However, it appears that maybe this doesn't work for all players and maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones.
