Hello, after playing ME3 for a while I decided to play ME1 again to alter some decisions I made in ME1 that effect ME3.

But somehow I can't install ME1 now, the whole setup is automatically cancelled after I enter my CD-KEY.
Then the next step is the setup has been cancelled, there was no further message.

I've tried to run almost all the program I can find on the disc at Windows XP SP2/SP3 compatible mode but no luck so far. (including main setup program , launcher, code verifying program on the disc)

I think I found a guy have the same problem as I do.

Anyone recently try to install this great game again have the same problem??
Could it be some windows update mess up the game again?

OS: win 7 64 bit pro
Game version: a normal retail ME1, no origin, no steam or other stuff.

How many times have you installed ME1 previously? There's a chance your licenses are used up, but it usually gives a message saying so. Still won't hurt giving EA support a call since if it is in fact a license issue, they can just renew the license/cd key for you again. If that's not the issue they might be able to walk you through the installation process and troubleshoot that way. There's a lot of other things that can happen to cause an install failure, depending on your configuration, anti-virus and/or firewall blocking amongst other things. You could always try turning off your AV and firewall and see if that works.

Also - Did you actually troubleshoot compatibility first, then run the installation in compatibility mode?

When and if you resolve this, you should post what happened in detail here and edit the title of this thread with [Solved] so others can learn from your experience.

You could try the deauthentication tool for Mass Effect (Second Row Down, Second From Left) assuming the computer you have still has they registriy keys installed on that machine. Then try a clean install. Your best bet as jk mentioned would be to try EA customer Support.
