Hey there,
I know there are a ton of threats about this problem. They all haven't helped me.
Okay, to sum up ...
- Bought the retail NWN Complete-Pack with NWN 1 und 2 + All Add-Ons
- NWN 1 works fine online
- I have a nwncdkey.ini with all 3 correct legal keys in it. Had this from the start (after installation)
- I also kopied the exact file again in the folder and renamed it nwn2cdkey.ini ... just for fun.
- The game was up to date after installation (no updates available)
-> My goal is to play a lan game ... would be awesome.
I am searching for a solution for some hours and I'm sick of it.
The Atari support does not exist and Bioware is not the fastest company either.
So, has anyone an idea what to do next?

try flipping the 2nd and 3rd keys was an issue at one point.
Make sure the ini files don't have oddball characters - should be plain ascii and not extended unicode characters which translates to open it with notepad. You might have to just retype in everything yourself since extended characters can look completely normal. ( This is mainly issue with those using steam as it copies it using the more advanced encodings )
File should be in your install folder like so. ( this works and i don't have any other file with this name )
c:\\Program Files\\Atari\\Neverwinter Nights 2\\nwncdkey.ini
contents of the file are the following
That should be saved with notepad.
I need to figure out how to validate cdkeys enough to determine if a user has transposed the keys from SOZ and MOTB and fix it for them.

So, I tryed flipping all codes in all possible combinations. But I didn't close the game while changing because of the bioware community login (takes forever). Didn't helped solving the problem.
I'm not that much of an expert to understand fully what you said about ascii and unicode, but my ini looks just like what you've posted.
I opened it with notepad and retyped everything. I even changed the coding from ANSI into just normal UNICODE. All that changed nothing.
If somebody has some ideas, be free to tell me. It's late in Germany, going to bed and try it again tomorrow.

Almost forgot ... Does your codes have capitol letters or is everything except of "CDKEY" and the "K" of "Key" small?
And I changed my game location to C:\\Games\\NWN2 ... so, no Atari and so on ...
May does thos cause some trouble?

I had the same problem, but was fixed once I realized that the key was case sensitive. I reinstalled and re-entered the exact case sensitive keys and it was fixed for multiplayer.
