I like Control ending the most story wise. It has a powerful potential to go oh so wrong and to turn into another paradox. It doesn't feel like a victory either, watching the reapers retreat slowly back into space, and depending on the Shep the choice could make them feel like a traitor. Though, I don't see Shep as really becoming immortal. Her memories erase the old catalyst and become the foundation for a new VI, AI? I still can't decide. It annoys me how synthesis is still pushed during this ending where Shep claims to finally understand the reapers because she merged with them which works vice versa as she is now a machine<_<.

That's one thing I really like about Sci-fi. The potential to be something greater, AI, Entity.
That's why I merged with Helios in Deus Ex, and that's why I became the new Catalyst in Mass Effect.

This Leviathan DLC is just a rumor right now. But I like the idea... Ex-Reaper? Maybe the original Catalist tried local-synthesis on thousands of Reapers, and this one was the only one who was affected and gained its own mind? And then became rogue?...

I'm going the the Proto-Type Reaper  Theory,   Dis or Leviathan what ever its name is  was an Reaper Prototype that the Orignal Catalyst made the  had too much free will  and so how escaped a  "Failed" orignal Reaper.

Yes, the Leviathan could be the very first attempt to make a Reaper. Or one of few first attempts... With its own mind it could be capable of disagreeing with its creators. And then it just escaped. And after that all subsequent Reapers were made without their own minds or personalities.

If Leviathan is indeed a rogue Reaper, it would establish the precedent that the Reapers can in fact resist the Catalyst's control.

Why would this change under Shepard's control? I can totally see a few Reapers going rogue and causing conflicts.

it all depends on the time  when Leviathan went rogue... was it a  Prototype Reaper that  Catalyst discarded or was it a Reaper that   rebelled?   If it  knows anything about the Reapers in depth I am going the discarded prototype

Am expecting Bioware to think about how this could pontential affect the endings...absolutely not considering they want everyone to pick synthesis anyway time to start  undermining the other endings.

I am interested, what squadmates are you talking about? Because the only squadmate IMO that represents control is Liara.

How does Tali represent control? Or Mordin? Or Miranda?

As far as I know, Miranda always regretted wanting to implement that control chip into Shepard's brain, and Mordin saw it as a mistake to control the krogan reproduction!

I can see Javik and Morinth, but Tali?

Tali would like control because she changed her views on the Geth. More so, she said after the mission on Rannoch the Geth are helping to rebuild. I don't believe she will doom the Geth, and she will want to help her people.

There is a difference between putting a control chip to a human than to a reaper. Miranda was always a control freak. And she still finds her implants usefull. Contorl represents power, and she is practical enough to take it.

Javik was a joke.

If anything, Tali is for synthesis, not control. She doesn't want to control the get. She wants to work peacefully together with them.

Don't confuse control with cooperating peacefully. Two totally different subjects.

Again, Miranda shows in ME3 what she thinks of controlling a sentient being, and she despises her father for trying to control her and Oriana's life. Miranda represents nothing. Not anymore, anyway.

Synthesis is also problamatic. There are still scars on both sides. Even if Tali cares about the Geth more, merging with them... I don't think she will want this. Nor would the Quarians. And possibly the Geth.

I'm not talking about cooproration. I'm talking about not messing with the galacitc community. Total different things. If the Geth and Quarians will want to kill each other afterwards that their business. For now, Tali shows a lot of support for the Geth.

There is a difference. Unless Miranda did a 360 degree turn from her ME2 self (which means I will not care for her anyway), she will choose control. Controling a reaper is different. Do you think any of us that chose control will still choose it if it also meant to control humans? Or Geth? Or whatever is not a reaper?

And I think I forgot Mordin on my last post. =]

I will give you an example as to why Mordin will choose control- Maelon's data. He took very unethical reaserch to help his goal, curing the genophage. So why wouldn't Mordin use the reapers, unethical machines, and use them for everyone's advantage?

Shepard had to talk Mordin into doing that. Mordin didn't do it out of his own free will.

As for Miranda, she wouldn't chosse to control the reapers, otherwise she'd probably think of herself as her father, which sheprobably couldn't bear.

Tali still does NOT represent control because she wants to work together with the geth. How the hell did you come to that conclusion? She would represent control if she herself wanted to control the geth! That's like saying that Liara would represent control, just because she's the shadow broker, even though she has said time and again how much she wants the reapers gone, or saying that Kelly represents control because she loves all species equally.

A person doesn't simply represent control by not representing any option. The person has to have the personality for it or even have a precedence for choosing control, and out of all your squaddies, none of them have shown any other desire than to see the reapers dead.

As a matter of fact, their despisal for control can be seen clearly after deciding to preserve the collector base; nobody approves of that decision.

Does it matter? The point is that Mordin used it. Hell, Shepard only told Mordin to keep the data. He decided to use it to help.

About Miranda, I think we just see it differently. I see her as the woman in ME2, you see the change she had in ME3. I don't think we can get to an agreement on that.

Contorl doesn't contorl the Geth. Only the reapers.

And it's true that preserving the collector base is wrong by everyone. But there, you would have only lost intel. Here, you loose the synthetics. You will waste the reapers, a huge power. And the keeping the collector base was a very big risk. You are told (with the EC) what will happen if you control.

Ok, so let' break this down.

You see Miranda as someone who would control he reapers. I don't. Fine.

Tali has no precedence whatsoever for wanting to control the reapers. Nor to control anything. As such, she cannot represent control.

You think Mordin represents control eventhough he strongly shows his opnion on tying to control another sentient species, and even dies for those beliefs. I don't. Fine.

The point for the collector base stands. All your squaddies despise control.

You see the reapers as a resource to be harnessed. I see them as an abomination that needs to be destroyed. That's just differing opinions. I can't argue against that, and neither can you.

Let's just say you see control as inslaving sentient beings where I don't see it as enslavement (not exactly anyway), and our squadmates will decide what to choose based on that question, is control enslaves the reapers or no.

Now everybody can walk out happy. :police:

Other Reapers just don't have their own minds. So they are not "enslaved", and can't "brake free". I'm sure the Leviathan is unique (or one of few unique ones), which have their own mind. Some early stage of the Reapers development maybe. Or maybe some unique result of local Synthesis attempts, performed by original Catalist. The original Catalist mentioned that there were some Synthesis attempts, but they've failed. The Leviathan could be some unique test-subject passed through Synthesis and gained his own mind in the process.

Thanks :)

I think each ending deserves its own constructive support thread. And there is actually one nice thread for Synthesis as far as I remember. But all Destroy threads are gone... Well, I guess it's up to Destroyers to make (or resurrect) their support thread.
