Well, we've seen indoctrination works that way, yes. But we also know that indoctrination is a mind-control ability. I think we can't just deny it can't be used for some good purposes. Radiation can kill a human, but it also can cure the cancer if used in a right way. Using mind-control to cure mental illness (like depression) makes sense. But this mind-control must be used very carefuly and wisely...

...Galactic Civilization clearly isn't ready to have such abilities. But Shepard-Catalist could use indoctrination to help some people, if they really deserve that help.

Indoctrination is soley based on the purpose of inslaving minds to work for the reapers. Indoctrination has a specific task. Maybe the reapers will be able to create another technolgy for medical help. But indoctrination itself is, well, indoctrination. Brainwashing.

You can't compare radiation to indcotrination. You can compare it more to mind tricks or something. Mind tricks can brainwash people (in this case, indoctrination), or get people out of a coma.

...Or they can calm people down, inspire them, force some dire thoughts to go away, etc. All of this can be done with mind control tricks (when they used wisely).

I'd be very wary of god-shepard interfaring in the daily life of people, inspiring or calming them. He/She better stick to larger scale :P

100% Agree. What I meant is that in some particular cases Shepard-Catalist could use the Reapers' mind-control mechanics as an analogy of Human-Shepard's Charm/Intimidate skills (from ME1)... Much more powerful analogy in fact.

So tell me what do you think: Is Shepard turning into an AI-god completely awesome and well deserved or do you see it as a fate worse than death?

On some level I find it awesome that Shepard has ascended to godhood, if you may. Its a fate well-deserved for Shepard. But its also a reinder of what my Shepard was, and what she's become. She is no longer the thing she was, she could no longer be reunited with Liara  and I find it very sad indeed.

By the way. I think that Shepard-Catalist may become to Liara something like grey box to Kasumi. And considering the fact that the Catalist is not just a record, but the most advanced AI in the galaxy, Liara and Shepard-Catalist may at least become very good friends. Liara may consider Shepard-Catalist as... Shepard's doughter/son I believe.

O.o Liarais lover suddenly became her son/daughter. Implications... unpleasant.
Anyway I like to believe there is a real chance that Shepard in synthesis, can reunite with his/her LI. In synthesis you see Kasumi reunited with Keiji, who has come "alive" as result of synthesis. Maybe Shepard can store his/her memories in something like the memory shard, or Liara's project and similarly come "alive" :P

I'm sure you will be able to create a Shepard clone in synthesis. All you need is a piece of DNA. Assuming synthesis will only go for DNA in living organics. Otherwise, I doubt Shepard will be able to come back, since the DNA will be changed. Though synthesis DOES use Shepard's DNA on everyone in the galaxy, so it might be possible it's exactly the same DNA as it was before.

As for Liara, I doubt AI Shep will be able to communicate with her. In fact, I doubt AI Shep will be able to communicate with anyone other than EDI, since s/he'll have more in common with her than with any other organic. Even than, it'll be for a short amount of time, since AI Shep and the reapers will probably advance further than they already are, s/he will be way out of EDI or any other AI's league, if it wasn't already too much for them to understand.

Kind of cool actually. Shepard will not be a thing you can comprehend...

O.o Though I find it cooler for Shepard to exist as a Prophet-holo (Like in control s/he is God-holo) than a living-breathing being. That would make her sacrifice... trifling. And I don't know why synthesis would need Shepard's DNA in the first place. Synthesis is the ending I like the most but it also is the ending that is the most poorly thought out/executed, which is baffling since Bioware considers it their "best" ending. You'd think they will put in more effort in their favourite option.

Actually you need Shepard's DNA because Shepard is organic, and partly synthetic. So I'm guessing everyone turned into something similar to Shepard? At least from the organic side. From the synthetics, they got Shepard's organic mind. And the side effect of taking someone else's DNA and implant it into yourself will result in you becoming greem. I think.

Though it sure doesn't explain why you can't simply pee to the synthesis beam, or donate blood to it. Even cut your thumb.

I think BioWare just wanted the ending to be the happiest with Shepard doing a heroic sacrifice. So naturally, they'll overlook few things about the ending which can somehow make it look bad. They sure as hell don't want that synthesis will actually use some sort of reaper tech, so everyone will think the galaxy's people turned into reapers (not that people don't already think that).

Yes that makes sense. Use Shepard's body to rewrite organics and her mind to do the same to synthetics. They could have just said we want your body! And mind, and avoided the whole DNA thing. Too bad I can't use TIM's body for it, though I'm not sure not rewriting synthetics with TIM's mind is a bad thing or good.

TIM has reaper tech in him. Do you really want the galaxy to have reaper parts in them? All those idiotic claims about everyone being indoctrinated in synthesis's future won't sound so idiotic as they do now.

Even though I dislike synthesis the most, I never thought that the idea of people being indoctrinated in the future makes much sense.

People need every reason to hate. Even when it makes sense at all. Or clearly not BioWare's message. <_<

Synthesis is indoctrinating everyone.

It's not Shepard who breath in destroy, it's another N7 operative.

You will restart the cycles in control.

The cycles will continue forever and everyone will die if you refuse.

Yes she shows up in the slides. In my control ending she sat studying the greybox, in synthesis she is talking to Keiji's hologram.
