True. I just saw nothing to indicate that synthetics didn't have emotions, nor do I see any reason to believe it would be so.

Hell, the whole geth revolution started over a question of whether a geth had a soul. Are you really telling me the answer is no?

That depends on few things:

1. Do you need emotions to have a soul?

2. Can only organics have a soul?

3. Does anyone actually have a soul?

4. What exactly is a soul?

(Oddly enough, I've seen a lot of people claiming 2 is true without knowing the answer to 4. )

Those are very good questions indeed.

^ Don't worry.

Until we'll get an answer to 4, neither do anyone else.

A soul does not exist. A soul is something we humans invented, most likely invented by religious men. A soul is something we made up as an easy explanation why we are so advanced and show free will and whatever while other animals do not. We invented a soul to separate us from the animals.

I think that words "entity", "essence", and "soul" are synonyms.

Anyway, what I personally like the best of the Control ending is the music, which I can't get enough of. The Control ending music is just that great!

I have to say, the music goes better with the Renegade Control ending than the Paragon Control ending. I saw the Paragon Control ending on YouTube and I didn't find the music that fitting with the Paragon speech.

What do you guys think?

I love Control theme. It sounds so beautiful, powerful, and masseffectish.

I think Control theme is great both for Paragon and Renegade versions, and is the best theme in the game :)

When I first heard it, I felt it was a little too dark for the Paragon route. I've since rescinded on that.

I do still feel like as far as the three individual musical themes are concerned, the one with the best lead-in to the track that begins with the memorial scene and closes as the Normandy ascends is still the one from Synthesis.

Well, personally, I don't actually understand why some people find Control theme "dark" or "sinister". For me it's just a very beautiful and powerful music :)

Just remembered that I find one more ME3 theme as perfect as Control theme. I'm referring to the music about synthetic life. It plays when EDI introduces her new mobile platform, and before Geth Concensus mission:

I wonder why this track wasn't among others in Digital Deluxe version OST, by the way...

...Maybe they should release a full version of ME3 OST with each and every track included... Even the tracks from EC epilogues? I could buy that just to have high-quality Control epilogue theme :)

No.. her organic feelings and emotions are removed. She'll no longer feel love for Liara :'( She's no longer an organic. She's an AI based on the memories of a dead spectre.

AIs are pretty clearly capable of both emotions and love. Really, unless you buy into the idea that there is any real difference between organics and synthetics this line of argument makes no sense.

As I said, I think that synthetic emotions work differently than organic ones. Catalyst-Shepard can't have LI anymore, but it will remember Human-Shepard's LI as a person it feels attraction to. Catalyst-Shepard will still care about LI, but not in the same way as organic would. They can become friends, and LI can consider Shepard-Catalyst as Shepard's offspring, which will be pretty correct I suppose.

Though I went with Synthesis, Control is my choice if they choose to make one of the endings canon. So huzzah for a great thread, you have my support :-)

I respect your opinion but disagree with it strongly.

If EDI is capable of loving an organic, then so is Shepard.

Well, I think that it's not the same love as the organic one. But it's definitely an attraction of some kind. Catalist-Shepard can have the same attraction to Human-Shepard's LI.

That's actually exactly how I feel. I love both endings though. The only of the big three I'm not huge on is Destroy.

I really doubt they will make any ending "canon"...

...And I really hope for a new RPG Trilogy (based on ME Universe) with ME3 save import feature :)

...ME3 save import, plus some options for reconstructing ME3 events (as an alternative for save importing) of course.

I won't allow my renegade Shepard to be anywhere near the control handles. If anyone deserves to replace the catalyst, it must be the most paragon Shepard. ReneSheps would decay quicker than ParaSheps. And yes I got some sinister vibes in the control. in retrospect its really similar to the Saren theme from ME1. Probably the devs did this to sow doubts in the controller's minds. ;)

I think an AI built on such an advanced tech can't "decay". But Renegade Shepard already has some corruption inside, and so will Renegade Catalyst-Shepard. This is how I see it...

...Well, and it's not a problem for me, because personally, I can play only Paragon Shepard :)

Yeah by decay I meant that, not actual decay. :P That is why I only let my pure paragon Shepards pick Controls, renegades pick destroy and paragades pick synthesis. :D I did let one of my paragade Shepards pick control to see the other side but that was about it.

Nice Synthesis banner you have by the way. Do you think Shepard VI can also become alive in Case of Synthesis? :)
