Do fanboys and fangirls effect the opinions you have toward a character?

Of course not.
I do feel a bit sad that some of the characters I like don't get enough recognition in the fandom- but then, I have fringe tastes, and many of the characters I'm fond of are pretty minor (Toombs, Talitha, Veetor, et cetera).

And I cringe a bit inside anytime someone celebrates killing one of my favorite characters, but hey, that's what I get for glomming onto the antagonists.

Nope....not swayed one way or the other about character "liking". I pretty much like all characters, and will poke fun at all of them as well......(yes....even pretty green Drells are not immune. <evil grin>)

Yes, Talitha and Veetor are great. Selling Veetor to Cerberus and forcing the sedative on Talitha myself instead of letting her do it are a couple of the only Renegade actions I can't bring myself to make.

To be honest i've always thought people who based their opinions on a certain character cuz of their fanbase were kind of silly. But to answer your question no not really. After ME3 came out certain fanbases went hella crazy and a new batch of weirdos came out. Still hasn't affected my opinion on those characters...They are just annoying. : x

No.  My views on these characters are based on my own game time.

They affect my opinion of the other people that play these games though.

Nah, i've always had my own opinion and how some zealots act and think won't change that.

I don't tend to let other opinions influence me too much, and the label like 'fanboy/fangirl' has negative connotations that suggest a more narrow-minded viewpoint. Everyone has their own reasons for liking or disliking characters. No point getting bent out of shape over it.

Having said that, most Miranda fans I have seen here are very mature, well-spoken people and actually gave me an even deeper appreciation for the character.

Maybe I just haven't been on these forums enough, but I haven't seen many annoying Talimancers. I myself am a Talimancer and have absolutely zero problem with the other romances (well, except maybe Jacob). I have a Shepards that romanced Jack, Garrus, Ashley, and Thane, just so my playthroughs have some diversity.

To answer your question; No, I don't much care what others think of a character. I try to judge them for myself.

Liara fans telling me I'm dead inside because I dont care for her character, posting those "deal with it" pictures and claiming she is the SOLE reason Shepard is alive have realllyyy made me dislike her character even more. Not sure why though.

Actually Garrus fangirls, made me dislike Garrus a bit. I love him, he is my one of my most famourite characters and I take him everywhere.

But with the amount of VS bashing thats goes around in their threads or their complaining about Kaidan. That was just too much. Cant you leave him alone and stick only to your guy... I dont go around writing that Garrus is stupid or something.

And thanks to them I cant even romace him. It doesnt feel right now.

I can see how you would feel that way. Even though I rate Liara pretty high on my likeable list, all the blue babies posts were kind of cute at first until it became overkill.

But to answer the thread question: No. I may not understand how people can like certain characters but to each their own. I'm sure not everyone understands why I like the characters I do.

The only thing it has ever done is made me laugh in the middle of playing the games, because a post from a talimancer, mirimaniac etc. came to mind during some scene. I shake my head at the poster and not the character.

No, doesn't bother me. It's my game, I won't ruin it by hating some character because of something someone I don't know said in some random thread.

Also, I don't mind people who *really* like a particular character. You think Blasto is the greatest character ever, and that he should have been the main protagonist across the trilogy? Fine, its your game. So long as they don't start attacking other characters/fanbases to stir up trouble.

Talimancers and Liara fans turned me off the characters. That and I was never interested in them.

A little bit. I like Tali, for example, but not more than any other character in the game. I see people rave about her like she descended from the heavens, however, and it's almost like I want to subconsciously counteract that praise by getting annoyed by all those things those people like about her. I'm not proud of it, but it happens.

No they generally don't however characters i left on the sidelines during missions on my own playthroughs do get some mission time after i read some of the forums (Tali during the first game, Mordin).
However my favourite character stays Jack and my least favourite Thane and no matter how many kick-ass fighting scene's they give him or how many fanboy and girls keep going on about how great he is.
He is most of the time dead meat during the suicide mission (yeah even now that i know the repercussions of my actions i still give him vent duty)

Not really for the currently-playable romances.

I get a little terse when someone insists that a certain character should have a romance option against the existing story. Fan-fic things like trying to comfort Bailey over his losses or getting on Aria's good side are funny and fine with me. (I always liked trying the notion of Shep trying to hook up with Chakwas or Adams -- possibly to the chagrin of the other.)

Trying to make Cortez, Traynor, Garrus, Tali or some other existing and specific romances go bi in-game seems against the writers' intentions IMHO. The more they push the issue, the more I typically get put off by them.

Some of the Miranda fans disgust me with their objectification of Miranda's ass. It makes me unable to take her seriously, anymore.

Nope, I like to keep an open mind, extremists of any fanbase can be pretty juvenile and narrow-minded anyway so I don't go out of my way to engage these people or try to change their minds on an issue.
