Only when I'm actually on this site. When playing the game though, no.
Do fanboys and fangirls effect the opinions you have toward a character?

To the OP's question:
No, but particularly negative takes on characters do tend to color the way I see that poster. You don't like a character, fine, but when people start attacking a character's fans and dismissing any value a character has at all in a character centric thing like Mass Effect, it bothers me a little. Strikes me as a little bit selfish, a little bit condescending, neither of which are attractive qualities, 'specially that second one. Condescension will flip my switch very quickly in real life.

I know that femshep fans really have gotten me despise femshep, to an extent.
But, really, any of the extremist fans that infest this forum and the internet, like parasites with a mission, have built a real ugly and diluted frame around some of BioWare's characters for me. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's ok to like a certain character, or to have a primary love interest, but after all the avatars, signitures, and banners plastered over people's profiles, the blatantly terrible fanfictions, and the laughable arguments, you start to paint a real ugly picture. All of BioWare's characters suck. Everything sucks. I hate everything.
Or perhaps I'm just too cynical as a result of all this.

No. I couldn't care less about what rabid fans of certain characters say or do. Only what Bioware does with the characters affect what I think about them.

Not really, you cant blame character because few idiots. I dont hate Ashley because of some hostile Ash fans, i dont suddenly hate specific character if someone favors it and bashes Tali. I dont like specific characters because of game, not their fan base
