Phantoms are the one unit that adds a bit of fear into cerberus . Everything else is a walking joke. Guardians ,Troopers, the Atlas, and Engineers are all free kills. Phantoms are the only challenging thing in that whole bunch.

You see a phantom in a group, take cover and call it out on your mic.Have your team focus fire on her. Problem solved.

Each enemy faction needs that unit you need your team to focus on.

I know this has been brought up a ton of times but If the phantom is too hard then switch your main class to Asari adept . They are the anti-phantom, ok they are the anti-every unit, lol!

turrets are also incredibly deadly. stasis is not the answer. im not changing my class for that. my team doesnt help me when im with randoms and you cant focus fire if you have multiple phantoms around you on gold. changing their damage resistance would still keep them a deadly unit too

What bothers me about Phantoms the most is that they sometimes seem to be invulnerable despite not seeing their shield show up. That, or their shield is just hard to notice from a distance.

I think the issue is, while they move, they can snipe you with 100% accuracy from the other side of the map, same with the Marauders in higher difficulties.
2 shots and you're probably dead..
the dumb thing is.. they are very easy to hit once they stay still.

I wouldn't say phantoms themselves are OP, just that their spawn value is ridiculously low. I could swear that I saw 25+ in one round of gold once.

My two keys to dealing with phantoms are the claymore and the talon on a Geth Infiltrator. speced for weapon damage, a cloaked GI with hunte rmode can sneak up to a phantom and one-shot her with a claymore (lvl X, choke V, shredder V) to the head and if you dont hit it just right the talon is perfectly capable of taking one down in 3 to 4 shots (lvl I, AP V, barrel V)

its even easier if you hit her first with a proxy mine

Have seen 2 novaguards with shotguns spam charge and lock down a phantom and decimate her. I was using level 3 warp ammo last night with the Scorpion and that also hurt her. Warp v barrier followed by the explosive round was stripping her defences pretty quickly.
Any weapon than stuns and powers that to damage over time seem to work best (putting aside stasis) Grenades are probably the easiest way to take them out . Biggest problem is that they have immunity for short periods of time when
they form an energy pulse  in the palm of their  hand and shooting them at this time is useless.

They do not bother me i M-99 everything and i ALWAYS shoot for da melon. The interesting thing is that with the M-99 i may not kill it with the first round, but i will stagger it even phantoms. If i can get a phantom out in the open field where i have clear fields of fire i will kill it single handedly.
Bang stagger. Bang stagger. Bang stagger. It stealths Bang unstealthed and staggered. Bang staggered. Bang dead. Next.

It is completely different if the phantom is in close then it is RUN AWAY! Seriously i just try to drag it into a situation where i can follow the procedure from the previous paragraph. The isue is once you start on it you have to keep up the pressure or it will regroup which is bad.

I disagree, your class set up is just not suited to kill Phantoms, simple as that.  If you have poop team mates who won't help, then you are out of luck man.  I don't think the answer is to nerf phantoms so they are easily killable by everyone.  Either get some people who can help kill the phantoms, like someone with stasis or deal.

Lots of BE's work well for me.

The flip makes less sense than SP's ending at face value. Which shouldn't even be possible. You guys know that mission where you're unlucky enough to find Jacob? I'm at the part on the roof where you've got a turret and you get to murderize some troops Cerberus drops in, okay. Everything is going down like Kelly Chambers after a bottle of Thessia Red. Except phantoms. A phantom is able to survive an entire thermal clip FROM A ****ING TURRET because she's apparently invincible during the flip she spams.

No, I'm sorry, that's completely retarded. I don't care "lulz use stay-sis cuz every1 everywear haz that powar" or any of the other nonsense about phantoms being fine. They're not. Do other Cerberus units, especially the atlas, need to be re-evaluated when they fix phantoms? Definitely. But that doesn't mean phantoms aren't broken. The fact that virtually everyone is scared of phantoms and nobody pays any attention to atlases should be the first clue that something is dreadfully wrong with Cerberus.

I would say any enemy that you can stick a sticky grenade to, have it explode AND NOT DO ANY DAMAGE AT ALL!!! is overpowered.

Here's the values for each unit BTW:

Assault trooper: 20
Centurion: 30
Nemesis: 40
Engineer: 40
Guardian: 40
Phantom: 80
Atlas: 100

Husk: 10
Cannibal: 25
Marauder: 35
Brute: 70
Ravager: 60
Banshee: 100

Geth trooper: 25
Geth rocket trooper: 40
Geth pyro: 40
Geth hunter: 40
Geth prime: 100

Although there's also a "maximum number on field" value too.  Which, for phantoms, is 4.  Needless to say, it's 2 for banshees/primes/atlases.

They are.  No one is scared of Phantoms.  They aren't broken.  See I can make generalizing sweeping remarks too.  Not everyone has stasis no, but in a team game, killing phantoms is just not that difficult if you are working together.  If you have no team work, then that isn't an issue with the phantom...

I have a generalizing remark for people who assume the game should be balanced around people who player with friends, using mics, and don't pick the random options.  Unfortunately, the rules won't let me post it.  :(

I personally like Phatoms being cheap, sure it sucks when you are downed and one is standing right on top of you rendering medigels and revives pointless, because she is just going to sync kill you when you get up. But hey, that's what makes the game more difficult and interesting and worth playing IMO.

I don't want to clear gold every time. Sometimes the computer needs to kick your ass with cheap tactics such as op Phatoms, geth stun locks, and banshee vacume sync kills. Without these computer AI tricks they would hardly ever win, and what's the point in that.

God you are so f'en annoying.  All you do in threads is just post bull**** and leave afterwards with no proof of anything.  Do us all a favor and get off the forums.

As for the topic again, since all you cry babies are asking for class balance, the PHANTOM is NOT a BALANCED unit in the game.  its thee most lopsided unit with all of its abilites.  Also on Gold you get a max of FOUR rushing at your team.

1. if a Phantom Dodge you're looking at 50% DR, IE the flip

2. a Phantom will ALWAYS dodge if you use a power.  IE Warp, throw, etc etc

3. when a Phantom puts their hands up in the air it will rend almost all abilites useless and null all weapons, untill you stagger her

4. Her Iron Man handcannon can shoot you from anywhere as long as they have a LOS to you.  Three shots can take you down to your healthgate and then boom, you're dead.

5. They camp corpses, if you get up while she's on top of you YOU WILL get OHK in your animation to get back up

So with all that knowledge
- Graal/GPS is the best weapon to use as it will stagger her at full charge
- shoot 1st, power later
- wait till she's in cover as she'll have no ability

Even with that knowledge the Phantom is still a BS class.  They will only take cover if you take cover, you're 1st shot at her when she's in cover will bring her out and she'll always put her hands up in the air rending even your BW useless, NOT EVERYONE PLAYS A ****ING ASARI SO GTFO THAT HORSE, she can go from slicing animaton right to her ONK animation.

Nerf the Phantom!

Yes, cause, like, people post proof of stuff all the time.  And if I annoy you too bad.  You surely can figure out how to get over it.

And I think it's hilarious that you wanna say all I post is bull****, when if you look at 99% of the posts in any given thread on this entire forum the posts are nothing but bull****.   I post what I post, sometimes thoughtful sometimes not, but always honest, blunt and willing to stand up to people who bully or bull****.

And don't we all leave afterwards?  Or do you actually post in a thread and then never leave?

Oh, and I have no plans to go anywhere for the time being.   Hopefully you'll be able to find some way to adapt or something.

(and really, is it so hard for you to debate on context?  Nothing weaker than when people like you can only use personal attacks instead of logical argument.   I really got to start ignoring these childish attacks more.  So flame all ya want, it just makes you look weak, and unless ya can debate me on the merits then don't expect any further responses)

You say you don't want to clear gold every time, and that's reasonable, but none of those tactics you just listed are limited to gold.  They do the same crap in bronze.

How often do you fail bronze or silver? Rhetorical, don't answer. The Ai has very few ways to actually win against competant players. Without cheap tactics multiplayer would be boring and have little replayability.

I assume you say "rhetorical" because you know damn well that it's not a matter of how often the hardcore players, like ones on forums, fail but rather how often the casual and unskilled players that the low end modes are meant for fail?

Well I always use projectile powers and they'll flip and block incoming damage, a perfect time to attack them.

Oh my gosh...

Certain Phantoms are out to troll me I swear...

One of them dodged count it.... 32 shots in a row.

Every shot hit it, yet it did no damage, and was aimed at the head.

Sorry, but even with adrenaline rush slow-mo, you cannot dodge a bullet from a Saber.

Not exagerating...

It really dodged every single shot for about 4 reloads.

I was trying for headshots so I didn't shoot twice or anything and apparently it had just enough time to recover from the dodge and roll into another one.

The only way I finally killed it was the Adept heard me shoooting so much and came over and stasis'd it.

I was in shock at that time and just sat there for a minute..... then realized I had no ammo left and ran to an ammo box.

(This was during the Phantom challenge, so maybe they turned up the dodge?...)

I am sure I will get SOMETHING Ultra-Rare soon, but I have decided to just wait until Tuesday and try my luck then. :?

Had something similar. Left on my own with 1 phantom to kill to end one of final waves. Team mates had to suffer on spectator mode as I tried to kill it. Unbelievable how many times I hit it with a high level talon and warp and throw BEs and could not remove the last 3 bars of protection. Everyone thought it was amusing (except me) - used missile (shame on me)  to end the saga so we could get back to the game..
