Operation Shieldwall... BioWare I am dissappointed!

Ok, before I get started, let me say I already promoted 6 characters. So no, I am not butthurt that I won't accomplish a goal for myself.

Now, I've just noticed that Operation Shieldwall was a short event, from Friday 5pm PT to Sunday 5pm PT.
This would have been acceptable ON ANY OTHER WEEKEND. This was MEMORIAL DAY weekend, many people were either out of town with family or having a family based weekend and wouldn't get on until TONIGHT.

This is unacceptable. And before you say something like, "Well that's an American holiday, we don't celebrate it here."
It's a holiday for remembering our Armed Forces and their sacrifices, I'm pretty sure other countries have similar holidays. Oh, and BioWare is associated with EA... an American company, and BioWare has an office in America as well as many, many, many American employees.

Sorry, but this is not acceptable. And why was this weekend the only "short" weekend event. Most go until Monday morning, in fact many people are USED to these events going until Monday morning.

BioWare, I am officially disappointed in you. This IS NOT cool.

Sincerely,

Staff Sergeant Talon Westfall
US ARMY 1st Cav Div, Fort Hood Texas

EDIT - The point is that the information on the event was located in one spot where the timeline for the event is concerned. And with no notification anywhere else that the timeline had changed from previous events. And to compound the issue is that there was no link to this blog information for us to check. I'm pretty sure the majority of players don't visit the blog. They either check the announcement thread here, or they get the splash screen on their platform/s of choice... neither of which contained this information.

The ball was dropped. Plain and simple. And THAT is what I am disappointed about most.

I agree. This was the most time-consuming one also. I only got to promote two characters on this Origin acc.

EDIT: BioWare's Canadian, right?

Isn't this a short event due to the upcoming DLC launch?

well if you keep track you know about event 3 days before and in absolutely worst case it takes 10 hours to go from 1lev to 20 lev => 30 hours in 5 days? possible if you have no life
I'd personally want to know at least 1 week earlier about operations and have them last 72 hours

On the other hand if you do geth farming and have some credits stashed or characters higher than lev 1 then it was really easy [I promoted 10 characters and helped a ton of people with their levelling]

Err, I dont think is that bad. Think about people from other timezones, some could be having it begin and end, in the sleeping hours. That for ALL operations , so less time to grind whatever bioware asks us to grind.

Like Poland: The event kicked in 2 hours after Friday/Saturday midnight so it was 26-28 for us

Not anymore, no. Even though Bioware HQ is in Canada, they're a division of EA which is American.

It's just a game...don't see why the entire world should stop for a US holiday. The game is being sold to players all around the wolrd.

Head office is in Edmonton anyway and many players have to deal with timezones constantly, not just during one weekend. Many people end up unable to play the game for periods of times for various reaons: business, family, traveling, etc...what's with the drama and the sense of self-entitlement?

What is memorial day?

I don't have that here and I saw plenty of people playing this weekend.

Absolutely agree. I have been away from home since noon on friday and won't be back til tomorrow afternoon so I missed the entire event. Last event was mother's day... they could have just started this every other week thing one week later and everything would be fine.

Yeah, I'd like to know also. If so, then that's a pretty badass name.  A friend of mine is named "Street"... needless to say nobody ever forgets his name.

4 day Ops would be nice. Then we might have actually gotten 3 mil. Banshees.

Yeah, this weekend I got asked by my family to help them around the house (yardwork and landscaping), made it so I got 2 promotions and my Infiltrator class to Level 19 - 200k XP from 20 - before the event ended.

Needless to say, disappointed in myself.  And tired.

I'm pretty sure this event was a gimme in preparation for the DLC/ a makeup for failing several of the recent challenges. It should not be that hard for even a casual player to promote 3 classes assuming most players like to keep a few high level classes for silver+ runs, let alone the entire ME3 group to reach the higher goal.

It is unfortunate that some will be unnable to complete the task due to family committments, but sometimes schedules can't be accomodated and it is just one of many challenges that will occur giving them plenty of time to make up for it.

I was under the impression that Memorial Day was the reason the operation didn't run through Monday. I figured that whatever extra staff are needed to run these little events on EA's servers had standard holiday things to take care of.

Nice thing was that they told us about it ahead of time. I knew I would be busy studying during this weekend so during the week leading up to it I maxed out my characters. Once it started I promoted 5 classes, not a huge number but I think I did my part. Not sure if we have a Memorial Day in Canada, maybe a parade or two but no holiday.
