What is memorial day?

I don't have that here and I saw plenty of people playing this weekend.

Wiki:
"Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces."

Basically, its a day to honor our military and those that have died while in service.

Plan ahead...we had plenty of notice to get our characters ready for promotion ahead of time. It takes almost zero time to promote if you have them ready in advance.

Only a true gamer would complain that they had to spent too much time drinking to play a video game.

In the USA, it's a Federal holiday for remembering members of our armed forces who died in active duty.

I think they should continue in the format they currently use. Its easy to remember (2 days or bust). Being disappointed in a multinational corporation for catering to 100% of its user base instead of 20% is a sad state of affairs. This company is giving us fantastic continuing support, and a forum to speak directly with them, as well as bi weekly operations. They don't need to acknowledge specific holidays to make me happy, they just need to keep doing good work. Besides I stopped celebrating holidays when I started putting friends in body bags during my time in the service. Holidays are for everyone else to celebrate, and for me to quietly remember.

Is anybody going to correct the thread title's grammar?
The proper usage is "I am disappoint".

Just don't QQ about the red, white, and blue. Honestly, trying to pass this off as some sort of affront to patriotism is in poor taste. It's a video game; if you can't get the ultra special commendation pack because you were busy doing something else, kudos to you on having a life.

It's unfortunate, but things like this happen. I'd like to think that it was an oversight, but as things stand, they had to have seen this coming.

This. It's obvious you're on the BSN, so you'd know about this event beforehand. I was able to promote 7 (6 were ready to go before it started) all because we're given advanced notice via these forums. So quit chur *****n'.

You're actually named Talon?

Yes. I'm actually Native American also.
My name has both an English meaning and a Native American meaning.

One other thing I would like to add is that this BSN community is actually the minority of the players and there was no notification of what times it would run on the event splash screen on Friday. So people who don't visit the blog had no idea of the times it was running.

They run them every 2 weeks, this one happened to fall on a weekend when the minority of the player base had a holiday. This weekends was even a really easy one you could plan in advance.

I would be far more upset if they failed to have an op BECAUSE of memorial day

Good on ya for your service, Talon. I was aiming to be a pilot once upon a time.

Then I found out I was color blind. FML.

Sorry, I immediately thought of Little Miss Sunshine. [mild SPOILER if you haven't seen the movie yet]

I don't blame you, the irony isn't wasted on me. My type of color blindness (Deuteranopia) affects only ~1% of the male population. Go figure.

Not quite sure why you're so upset. I haven't been able to do all the bonus weekends because of work or school and I don't view it as a personal affront. I understand you may be a vet and all, but seriously, get over it. It's a free bonus weekend that was relatively easy to achieve

Ok, before I get started, let me say I already promoted 6 characters. So no, I am not butthurt that I won't accomplish a goal for myself.

Now, I've just noticed that Operation Shieldwall was a short event, from Friday 5pm PT to Sunday 5pm PT.
This would have been acceptable ON ANY OTHER WEEKEND. This was MEMORIAL DAY weekend, many people were either out of town with family or having a family based weekend and wouldn't get on until TONIGHT.

This is unacceptable. And before you say something like, "Well that's an American holiday, we don't celebrate it here."
It's a holiday for remembering our Armed Forces and their sacrifices, I'm pretty sure other countries have similar holidays. Oh, and BioWare is associated with EA... an American company, and BioWare has an office in America as well as many, many, many American employees.

Sorry, but this is not acceptable. And why was this weekend the only "short" weekend event. Most go until Monday morning, in fact many people are USED to these events going until Monday morning.

BioWare, I am officially disappointed in you. This IS NOT cool.

Sincerely,

Staff Seargent Talon Westfall
US ARMY 1st Cav Div, Fort Hood Texas

Before I say another word, sir, allow me to say thank you for your service to this country, to your devotion to the Armed Forces, and to your dedication to the holiday in question.  I mean all of that sincerely.

With that being said,  I think you're being more than a little oversensitive about the whole matter.  An event scheduled on a holiday such as Memorial Day is not meant in any way to disrespect those being honored during said holiday.  Operation Silencer was scheduled on Mother's Day weekend, and I saw no commentary here about said event disrespecting mothers and those who love and honor them.  You might think that's a foolish comparison, but technically the same logic you're using applies.  I agree that little thought was given to the timing of the event, but I seriously doubt any offense was intended.

Talon mate, I take your point, but as has been mentioned it's probably short because of the upcoming DLC.  At the end of the day, isn't free new content a great reason to run a short event?  Admittedly, some people will lose out on an N7 weapon but there'll be another event in two weeks and on Tuesday/Wednesday we'll have some new maps/guns/characters to play around with!

It's the silver lining on the cloud, but if they **** up the launch, we'll all come back to complain! :P

I'm Australian, but thanks for your service too.  Our guys are serving alongside you guys and I'd love to think that maybe that cooperation means that some more people get to come home.

Something else to consider: Maybe Bioware/EA employees who would be responsible for monitoring the event on Monday have the holiday off?  Thus they had to cut the event short since no one would be present to do it on Monday?  Or something along those lines.

It's a fairly easy challenge, but I think it should have been better advertised that it would end early Sunday night, instead of Monday.

... not to mention that I made a thread called Operation Misfit and offered assistance in levelling. And kept it bumped.
You just have to be around and read stuff.
