I have to work weekend shift every 4 weeks, which happens to be when there is an Operation going on. So I try to work around it, last Operation I only managed even one full extraction on gold...

Just because the US happens to have had a public holiday this weekend doesn't mean the rest of the world should adapt to it.

Really, yes. Bioware should have posted the exact start and end times of the operation in the post. the event posts are containing less and less info each time. I mean, this time, we had somebody from bioware telling people through twitter that promoting any three characters from any of the four gamertags in the lobby would get everyone the pack. not only is that stupid, but it's ridiculous that even the people running the op don't know what they're talking about. And if they weren't sure, they should keep their mouth shut and stop misleading their customers.

Secondly, while yes, the op did not last as long as the others, if you deliberately waited until the last second to promote, this is also your fault. It is after all, a weekend event, and while it's regrettable that some people simply couldn't find the time to put the work in, that's how it goes. if you're not playing the game over a whole weekend, it's obviously not as important to you as what you were doing, so it's not the end of the world.

I think Bioware needs to clean up the act a bit and post the exact starting and cut-off points again, because it is a bit ridiculous, but people also need to stop expecting so much. if you can't play for the weekend, I get that, but don't whine when you don't get the reward for playing over the weekend.

if it bothers you that much, keep your hated classes maxed out so you insta-promote on promotion events, and you won't have to spend any time anyways.

That is what Talon is talking about. The total lack of any notification about when the operation ended. Especially when all the previous operation weekend events ran from Friday at 6:00PM PST until Monday at 5:00AM PST. Although in the blog, it has Silencer ending at 5PM PST but that’s probably a typo.

-Shield Wall: Friday at 6:00PM PST until Sunday at 5:00PM PST.
-Silencer: Friday at 6:00PM PST until Monday at 5:00PM (AM?) PST
-Exorcist: Friday at 6:00PM PST until Monday at 5:00AM PST

12 hours may not seem important to some of you, especially the holier than thou crowd in here, but it can make the difference to everyone else with their individual schedules across the world.

By the way, in Ireland we have until 1pm on Monday to finish the challenge, and this is when I normally complete it.

In the UK we tend to honour our armed forces on November the 11th (we call it rememberance day), I'd be surprised if Bioware gave it consideration, not really on their radar as far as I can see.

Honestly though, if you have important stuff to do at the weekend, maybe just give the operation a miss?  Personally I had most of my characters at level 20 anyway, so I completed it in about 5 minutes, which was another option.

EDIT: I just wanted to add, I'm not really mad. I was quite accustomed to them ending Monday mornings, so I didn't think this was going to be any different. Sunday night was the only night my gf and I had to get our characters to 20 for promotions. Sucks, but oh well.

On a side note, how did it end at 5 pm if we were still seeing banshee's with non-reaper forces?

Now, I've just noticed that Operation Shieldwall was a short event, from Friday 5pm PT to Sunday 5pm PT.
This would have been acceptable ON ANY OTHER WEEKEND. This was MEMORIAL DAY weekend, many people were either out of town with family or having a family based weekend and wouldn't get on until TONIGHT.

Sorry, but this is not acceptable. And why was this weekend the only "short" weekend event. Most go until Monday morning, in fact many people are USED to these events going until Monday morning.

Although I don't give squat about military honours, Talon is totally true that they should have a) Warned us extensively, or Extended the duration up to the "normal" events. I mean, here in Europe they start at 1a.m. on Saturday, so being able to play or not during Monday morning is not a big deal, but in other timezones, or for people that have personal schedules that don't allow them to play much, those 12 extra hours could make or break the completion of the event.

In any case, you should not have used the "Memorial Day" excuse, rather than the fact that they just made the event shorter without properly announcing it, it misleads people IMO.

P.S: No, we don't have a "Memorial Day" here, we have a sort of Army Day with parades and so, but it mainly because of the discovery of America, seeing the only soldiers who died in our army were killed in wars that should have never been fought, but again, what wars should?

All you gotta do is promote 3 chars. most of us had chars already 20 so just logged on promoted them then went about our day. Plus you are saying the rest of the world should not have an event because of an American Holiday. That's Bogus. You gonna stop events on holidays for Mexican, Canadian, Portugese, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese etc etc ?? You know what, while I'm having a rant you should show more frigging gratitude. You are getting FREE weekend events from Bioware. You know how many multiplayer games dont do this?? even triple A titles don't often offer FREE events or any events at all. These events are after release support that Bioware aren't technically obligated to give you, let alone as freebies. I think his point is mostly about BioWare changing the usual cutoff time from Mondays to Sunday evening and only mentioning it on the blog (not mentioned in the forum post here or in the in-game scene thing).

I'm more curious how the event as cut off at 5 pm if I was still seeing Banshees on non-Reaper forces. If anything, before checking here, I thought they were doing something special since it was the first time I've seen two large elites spawn on one wave on Bronze (Banshee spawning right after an Atlas kill on w9, for example).

Hey, it's worst for people who lives in different timezones and have to deal with starting/ending of events at sleeping hours. And I don't see anyone crying. Also, this weekend event was very easy at both objectives, so I don't see any problem.

I just realized something after reading all the ups and downs of this thread.... "maybe because of memorial weekend there is no trailer for the upcoming dlc". right... i mean they had a trailer for resurgence like a week before the release (correct me if im wrong). Maybe its another way Bioware (a canadian company) is showing respect for memorial weekend... i mean nickelodeon didnt show the new episode for legend of korra out of respect for the weekend... just keeping an open mind .

If you're too ****ing thick to read and find out the date for yourself then tough luck. Whenever an event like this comes up, always be sure you manage to get it done prior to when it finishes.

"Welcome to the next N7 Weekend Operation, Operation SHIELDWALL, beginning this Friday, May 25 at 6:00PM PT until Sunday, May 27 at 5:00PM PT"

Do the challenge on Saturday. Problem solved.

Its been that gloriously sunny in the UK I bet a lot of people didn't really play much (a spot of sunshine is that much of a rarity in britain). I work 12 hour shifts and worked Thursday to Sunday and managed to promote four AND do my garden..but that's because I stayed up and only got 2 or 3 hours of sleep a night. I'm fooking knackered today and it serves me right!
