Hmmm, you call people trolls but still keep throwing snide remarks back in retaliation. Just be the bigger man and move on, as someone already said, it's just a game bro!

Well to be honest it's frustrating that quite a few people who have posted in here either can't read or can't understand the point I am trying to make, they misunderstand what I'm saying and post something ridiculous like they are somehow cool for being a complete ass or something.

Secondly, I'm really just poking fun back at some of the more obnoxious trolls. Telling someone they disgust you is really just inflammatory and trying to provoke a response. So I try to come back with something a bit witty. Makes me feel better and less frustrated. And there are quite a few frustrating people here, which I'm starting to realize are just being frustrating on purpose.

Its been that gloriously sunny in the UK I bet a lot of people didn't really play much (a spot of sunshine is that much of a rarity in britain). I work 12 hour shifts and worked Thursday to Sunday and managed to promote four AND do my garden..but that's because I stayed up and only got 2 or 3 hours of sleep a night. I'm fooking knackered today and it serves me right!

Yes it has been lovely and sunny in the UK. Beause the Operation was announced ahead, I had a few days to get 3 characters to level20 ahead of the weekend, then it took me 5 minutes to promote on the Saturday ahead of some lovely sunbathing, knotted handkerchief on my head :-)

Seriously though, and I do have respect for American national days, but I don't see how the fact that an operation part-coincides with such a day affects the ability to read and comprehend an announcement that a game event lasts for 48 hours. That is not an unreasonable time within which to promote 3 characters if so desired.

I don't see how it's hard to comprehend that not everyone knew or knows about the blog. If they had at least linked it in the announcment page and in the OP thread here, we wouldn't be having this discussion lol.

And you're right. Except that information was not clearly passed along. Many people had no idea of the timeline for this event. What is boggling my mind is that BioWare should have known how hard it would have been for many people to get this done in such a short time. It makes no sense that the event would be cut shorter than other event weekends.

Not everyone visits the blog. In fact, I'm willing to bet MOST people don't.

have you considered removing all mention of memorial day from your post, that should reduce the people posting about that part of your point.

Agreed - more clarity on the Announcement on BSN would have been helpful.

Pity I can't remember if the exact timings were shown on the Xbox/PC splash screen - I assume they were (excluding PS3 users I understand) but I am told they were not - I will take a shot of it next time.

In truth this Operation was both the easiest or hardest to complete. If 3 characters were ready, then a 5 minute task. If you had 6 x Level 1 characters, I guess that's 60 x Bronze missions, or 20 hours play to promote (Less if your teammates carry you for some levels on Silver/Gold)

Types of Operation should vary (which they do). Some people don't want to do Gold extractions, others don't want to promote. It should not have to be an obsessive requirement to complete every single Operation. My pending Hurricane IV (if luck follows a trend) is not worth that level of frustration.

Now if you did play for 20 hours with this Operation in mind and did not spend 5 minutes to confirm the timing and so missed the window, then I feel for you.

I imagine BioWare will further highlight timings in future.

Ok, before I get started, let me say I already promoted 6 characters. So no, I am not butthurt that I won't accomplish a goal for myself.

Now, I've just noticed that Operation Shieldwall was a short event, from Friday 5pm PT to Sunday 5pm PT.
This would have been acceptable ON ANY OTHER WEEKEND. This was MEMORIAL DAY weekend, many people were either out of town with family or having a family based weekend and wouldn't get on until TONIGHT.

This is unacceptable. And before you say something like, "Well that's an American holiday, we don't celebrate it here."
It's a holiday for remembering our Armed Forces and their sacrifices, I'm pretty sure other countries have similar holidays. Oh, and BioWare is associated with EA... an American company, and BioWare has an office in America as well as many, many, many American employees.

Sorry, but this is not acceptable. And why was this weekend the only "short" weekend event. Most go until Monday morning, in fact many people are USED to these events going until Monday morning.

BioWare, I am officially disappointed in you. This IS NOT cool.

Sincerely,

Staff Sergeant Talon Westfall
US ARMY 1st Cav Div, Fort Hood Texas

EDIT - The point is that the information on the event was located in one spot where the timeline for the event is concerned. And with no notification anywhere else that the timeline had changed from previous events. And to compound the issue is that there was no link to this blog information for us to check. I'm pretty sure the majority of players don't visit the blog. They either check the announcement thread here, or they get the splash screen on their platform/s of choice... neither of which contained this information.

The ball was dropped. Plain and simple. And THAT is what I am disappointed about most.

Bioware is a Canadian company with its playerbase from all over the world.

The United States of America is not the centre of the world, nor is it the centre of Bioware.

Why should they skip it just because some US-Americans wont play?

No "ball" was dropped. Stop being so Americentric.

US holiday. Game produced in Canada. Problem?

Apparently so.

We do not observe the US "Memorial Day" in Canada and the primary staff contingent is based in Edmonton so.. it just amazes me how many folks don't seem to get this very simple concept at all.

Actually, you're wrong. As was mentioned earlier in the thread, BioWare is a division of EA, which is an American company. BioWare STARTED as a Canadian company, but those branches are no longer in charge (obviously), not to mention that the studio handling multiplayer is in the U.S.They have every right to observe the holiday. The OP is just butthurt he forgot to check the times posted in several threads AND in the in-game announcement.

I'd expect the same if it were a game based in another country with a big holiday encroaching on the playtime. That's just reality. Plain and simple. It's not a sustained service like MMOs, Account accessibility, etc, so quite yer bellyachin', OP.

You know, I found out too late that the deadline was early. So I missed my promotion and my crappy promotional weapon.

But anger has its place and there's going to be a lot of grief play tonight. Revenge is really a useful tool sometimes. And sometimes it is good to be a tool.

Its the most reasonable opinion, a thing that affects only a small portion of the world should not take priority over the majority of the world.

not really, if they observe an american holiday, then they'd have to observe other countries holidays too. That's only fair. And quite obviously they have respected this holiday hence the early ending of the op, it's not their fault you turn a one day event into a weekend thing.

It's probably because the dlc is coming out on Tuesday and they want to make sure they do all of the necessary fieldwork regarding the issue of the packs related to operation shield wall before then. I'm guessing they might try to issue some packs either tonight or simultaneously with the dlc release :)
