The fact that people think this is an admirable trait makes me sad.

Liara risking her life to prevent the Shadowbroker from obtaining Shepard's corpse is an admirable trait. It is also one that was crucial to the story, as the Shadowbroker intended to turn said corpse over the Collectors. If we accept that the Reapers win without Shepard, then Liara and Miranda are the two most important squad mates in the entire series.

That being said, I don't think it would be fair to criticize Ashley for not seeking out Shepard's corpse. As active duty military she had other orders and does not have freedom of movement. She also didn't have access to the same intel that Cerberus provided to Liara.

Liara risking her life to retrieve Shepard's body was admirable. Handing it over to Cerberus, however? No.

At any rate, GSN was referring to Liara's alleged "unconditional love." Agape is all good and well, but when it passes into obsession, especially when the other party is abusive (and Shepard can be), it isn't admirable. It's pitiful. I'm not saying that Liara is "obsessed" (and I don't believe she is), but the way she is portrayed if unromanced is very unhealthy at best.

...Especially the encased armour. That was a blindsiding WTF if I've ever seen one.

So, I've held true to my girlfriend in spite of the fact we literally live on opposite ends of the planet and I had to scrape together every bit of cash I had just to visit her for two weeks - it was still worth it even though we're physically incapable of consumating our love together, and after all that, I'm still together with her 8 months after we last touched eachother because despite of the fact there's about sixty billion tons of rock between us and no way for us to communicate except through text chats, I will never cease to adore that woman despite the fact she's American.

What can I say? I'm a romantic. So f***ing sue me, ya goddamn cold tart.

You've entirely missed what GSN was trying to say.

Also, does "despite the fact she's American" indicate some sort of new form of sexual selection? Because I am all over that.

Do, or do not. There is no try. I can only read what he wrote, not what he wanted to write.

Liara (but I am biased :D)

She has the most "complete" romance arc and probably the best overall. I love how Bioware developed her character.

Well, most people would call loyalty an admirable trait. I don't know why this makes you sad?

It becomes sad if the other person would not do the same for her, or is apathetic - perhaps even abusive - towards her.

Anyway, OP. If you're stuck between two options, maybe you should flip a coin and let chance decide for you? That's what I always do.

Blind loyalty is stupid.

I don't know; didn't see her with me in the Collector Base, did I?

That's true, but unlike Ashley she actually had a reason for that

Your bias is showing.
