Pheonix is happy we past the 100 page mark.

http://kyriene.com/K...c.php?f=66&t=38

I can only imagine what will happen when there is something actually on-topic from Bioware to talk about.

I'm going to make a bold prediction: most, if not all, of the delicious new weapons we've been handed in the "free" multiplayer DLCs will be "unlocked" in single-player courtesy of the supposedly upcoming payware single-player DLCs.

Which won't make the ending suck any less.

*sigh* Yeah... I've not even bothered playing MP for the past three weeks or so... :?

Yeah, I was surprised to hear that the new pack came out the other day. Whoop-dee-doo. Shame about that whole "unlocking" thing that means I would have to continue to play the same characters some more in order to get the new ones. Can't be bothered to.

MP grinds harder than a windmill.

Resurgence and Rebellion are the only multiplayer DLCs that I know about so far, the only ones period besides the disc-locked From Ashes (my copy was digital, tho).

Which is still less than SW:TOR :(

Someone mentioned paid DLC for SP, has that been leaked or are we just treating it as inevitable?

I think it's inevitable though I would be happy to buy SP dlc if something is done about the ending that actually improves it and doesn't leave us with..... that.

The reason Mass Effect ultimately failed as a trilogy, is because not even the most major of plot-points were planned out ahead of time. Granted, this is a game trilogy and not a movie one, so you can’t pre-plan everything before the first game is even released. Though they could have stuck a broad plan in place and leave enough wiggle room to see how the reaction to the game is, what the fans/critics say etc. They didn't have enough of an eye on the ending while constructing a complex series, to be honest you can see what their “new direction/audience” was as early as the Pinnacle Station DLC in ME1. (I.E. from RPG/Shooter lite to Shooter/RPG lite.)

I agree completely to the point people have brought up, that you shouldn’t be “catering” to anyone but your fans when you get to the last act. In-fact if I were in charge of ME3 production, I would have had it designed and released with warnings that if you don’t have a finished ME2 save game. Then ME3 is a bogey for you, it can’t be played till you get one. You had a free pass in ME2 to skip the first game, you’re not getting it for ME3. That in itself you could even reverse into a sales pitch, makes folk scratch their heads and think: “oh wow, you actually need a savegame file from the previous title to play this 3rd one, I better check these out!”. I also don’t buy the need to cater for a whole new audience, your first game sold good enough for a sequel. That’s 2/3rds of your trilogy secured already, and that sequel done well enough for the 3rd to be made. So stands to reason your 3rd and final one will do equally as well, if not better right?

I sure don’t know anyone who’s first Star Wars experience was Return of the Jedi. I’m also 100% sure George Lucas wasn’t thinking while making that movie “hmm, how can I make this plot accessible to someone that ain’t seen Star Wars?” Granted, he applies this thinking in the new prequals, and we know how those went. They failed as movies first, then also as Star Wars movies. He tried to make them so general and try to pull in a many demographics as possible he diluted it to the point the movies just didn’t make sense. Listen to the bitterness in his voice in The Phantom Menace special features, about how much money Titanic was making and that he’d have no hope of matching it. He tried though anyway, and BW tried to match the CODs of this world and maybe in terms of sales they did a darn good job, but the plot is left in runis when you go back to ME1.

It's not just about the end of ME3, there are other flaws too. The suicide mission, as great as it was allowed for too much potential party member death, in a game where another sequel was pretty much a sure thing. It created a situation where BW felt they couldn't give the vast majority of them large role (or return as squad mates) in ME3. This made new squad mates an unfortunate necessity, it increased the amount of unheard/alternate dialogue in each player’s game, thereby reducing the amount of heard dialogue to compensate. This all coming from a game (ME2) that is heavily focused on these characters that can die. Yes, it worked in ME2, but as soon as you factor ME3 in the equation it seems like not as good an idea (looking for the payoff too early).

I feared the worst for ME3 after Dragon Age 2 and sadly a lot of them were realised, some I didn’t even think of also popped up in ME3. (Such as the dreaded over use of auto-dialogue and horrid quest journal.)

A lot of fixing is needed to repair this trilogy, but I doubt we’ll see much of this if any at all. There aren’t even the tools for a mod community to do this at the moment. I'll see what this EC brings to the table since it's free, but I doubt it'll restore my drive to re-play ME3 again.

Oh, it was planned. Know that Dark Energy stuff? In the original script, the Reapers were supposed to be wiping people out because use of Mass Effect tech was causing it to build up. And your final moral choice was to be either letting the Reapers make a human reaper because humans are special and they thought a human reaper would hold the secret to solving this problem, or blowing up the reapers and trusting the existing species to solve the problem.

But then the lead writer left Bioware and that was apparently pitched in favor of Star Brat. Vast improvement, right?

Checking in since the last thread got closed. No ME of any kind since March 9th for me. I keep seeing these multiplayer actions on Twitter, but what is the point when it doesn't matter. I haven't downloaded any of the free DLC, because again, what's the point. Here's hoping that Bioware will fix the ending (again). As I said before, ME is currently ruined for me. Just making my voice heard (again) just in case anyone from Bioware is even listening. I guess I'll check back in after a few more weeks.

This thing still going on?
I'm surprised, given the fact there is zero info from BW, you'd think some of the more enthusiastic mods would've closed this one too. Because it is really hard to be on-topic when everything has been said already.

Oh well, still waiting for the EC, stopped playing MP, it's too boring, hoping the EC will be released late July or early August.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll continue with my off-topicness at KAAS.
